no need to change the tires. put a full coverage skid plate under the motor and loose all the weight you can from the bike. there's guys that do water-cross all the time.

Ashik Ahmed Nobody said anything about no mods, just about riding on water. You need a skid plate. A lot of dirt bikes have factory options for one.

+eurenton99 .... Up to a point. Get them big and they will span the water, and no longer ride the surface ruining the experiment. Larger, and they block the sun, screwing up weather patterns across the globe. Even larger, and it would screw up the mechanics of the solar system making the weather even worse. Eventually, it would crowd out of the galaxies and trigger a cascade of stellar nucleosynthesis. The mass of these complexes would collapse into a black holes and converge plunging the Universe into an existence where all matter exists as a singularity in the simplest possible thermodynamic state. The worst possible outcome for all sentient life and basically ruining everything for everyone for all time.

Hazardous-Nebula they do make amphibious paddle tires for dirt bikes sand paddles would be a bad choice for water as well as raised fork ski's for the front so you can ride from land to water and vise versa. may cost more but they are specialty items.

it was prob a 250, didnt look like it was powerful enough to be the 500, and he should of been in powerband or at least topped out

Just slicks on front would have made a lot of difference. That rear offroad tire probably has enough of a paddle effect.

It's called watercross, and you can go for hundreds and hundreds of meters with snowmobile on open water.

different operating principles. the bike depends on hydroplaning, essentially pulling air under it quickly enough to keep it off the water. once it's on the water, it's relying on momentum to move forward a snowmobile is more like a tiny paddle boat. the treads actually push water, allowing the snowmobile to remain under its own power.

they actually have snowmobiles do a track on water thats over a quarter mile long here in colorado. they do like 4 lap races and its impressive to see them stay afloat that long.

The problem was clearly not the torque but the power (for these wheel conditions).And btw : a 4 stroke is heavier at the same power so it need more force (so more power) to have the same acceleration and if the torque was the problem, you can just change the sprocket on the 2 stroke.So no, 4 stoke is not the solution

Those 2 strokes are pretty easy to get water out of. He could of hydro locked the piston and bent a rod but more then likely it just needs to be cleaned out and put some fresh oil in the crank case and it should be fine. 4 strokes are a whole different story tho.

I've seen many sunk and running again in less then an hour. (2 stokes that is) Plus.. they are cleaner! (outside only)

Nope. Flux capacitor too big to fit on bike.

The problem with that is it would be MUCH heavier. It wouldn't work as well because it doesn't matter how fast the tires are spinning in the water, just how fast the motorcycle is going. And then, the weight would render the superior speed obsolete.
