Bass cover of "Too Young To Die" by Jamiroquai from their album "Emergency on Planet Earth". Hope you like it, thanks for watching! My Patreon: / juliaplaysgroove IG: / juliaplaysgroove_official
At this point Julia was only playing for 2 years and 5 months. Not 10 years or even 5...And self taught with no Maestro to guide her...This young lady was just born to play...
Susie Qsie AKA SusueMikado very similar to Stuart in respect to being self taught, no maestro to guide him and had only been playing for a couple of years at the time this track was released. Uncanny similarities ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vQ3yv3MluHg.html
OMG… I’m a 65 year old lifelong musician, bass as primary instrument for the last 3 years, and she is teaching me and inspiring me as much as ANYONE ! Janek Gwizdala, Julia Hofer, Scott’s Bass Lessons, this lady is right on top ! Of course I’m subscribed !
Due to your performance I started bass guitar lessons in Holland. You're never to old to learn to play on such a marvelous instrument. Thank you Julia!
I truly can't stress how Pleased I am to see someone so young that not only appreciates these true R&B songs but Learns how to play them so well!! I can't help but wear a big smile as I watch your videos! I keep sayin "Go head, Girl!" Proud of you.
I’m 43 years old and I started learning how to play bass now and I wanted to learn that song. But after watching this talented and gifted girl, I noticed I’m not ready yet.
I've been listening to Jamiroquai the whole week and landed up on this video. It's amazing to see that Julia already played with impeccable technique 7 years ago. This execution is ridiculously perfect.
It’s not just the technical skill, which you obviously have. It’s also your musicality. You have the feel for the song, and it takes your playing to a new level. Amazing!
Hearing you play is literally bringing a tear to my eye. Good Music sees no color, race, or creed. It’s the universal language. Your musicianship is SPACEAGE, FUNKY, NEXT DIMENSIONAL Groove! 🙏🔥🔥🔥💯
Julia, I was listening to this without seeing the RU-vid video. Tucked away down in my office listening to RU-vid take me through some decent funk tracks. I play several instruments and out of necessity purchased myself a Fender Jazz six string several years ago as it was the position within my musical community that required a volunteer. I love Victor Wooten and Stanley Clark, but Bootsy Collins is my man... I was able to use my voice dictation software to rewind the track several times until I finally decided to have a look at who was playing. I was blown away. Your fretwork is accurate and you are a talented sniper. Your timing is amazing and to be able to pull that off with your tiny little hands and the accuracy you projected in your musicianship and command of your guitar was spectacular. I pray you never forget to include music as a daily piece of your journey through life. You have a rare talent and here is the most important thing..... Because of you..... I stopped everything and grabbed my bass.... cause of you. THANKYOU !!! :) :) :)
I'm one of the few people. Back in the old days was a youtube bass dude from Switzerland playing some serious bass funky covers and was insanely good. I don't remember his name.
First off we all know Jamiroquai is amazing!!!....young lady you've got an bright future as an musician...self taught..spectacular!...keep it up don't stop..you are gifted Julia.
The bass sound of this masterpiece it's one of the difficultie's all time...(Stuart Zender is amazing) , but this young girl sound is amazing too....ho can do that?? Simply: she's not human...😄😄 Congratulation Julia, your great👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
When I'm at church there's this old guy that tries to play bass he thinks he's smashing it but he's just playing one note every like 30 seconds dude you have skillllll imagine how well you will play in a couple of years if this is the skill you have NOW. you inspire me
Just a pleasure watching you playing the bass. Awesome song to play the bass on. And the extended version as well. Thanx 4 honoring the classics! Luv this song by Jamiroquai! 😃👍
All the ghost notes, the popping and everything in place => a grooving' playin' that could turn without drums (if it was necessary) ! Beautiful play and clean technique ! If you learned that alone Julia it means you have everything in you to trace the road ! Natural born bassist you are > Use the Force, Julia ! 🙂
This was brilliant back then, and to think Julia has only gotten better is mindblowing! I'm a Guitar player, but since watching this young lady I've got myself a bass too, and I'm enjoying playing so much, YOU did that Julia. 👍😊❤️
The timing and feel almost like you are slightly ahead of the count without speeding up anticipating the notes coming up shows how well you know the song.
Most promising young fingerstyle player I've seen in a long while. I've been playing since the mid 1980s but wouldnt have been able to play like this at the same stage of learning as she Julia was at the time this was shot. The combination of the trills, the little bits of vibrato and especially the ghost notes.... very very very very impressive for one so young.
Yep I agree. This is certainly not an easy song to play - I don't play the bass myself but I know a few things about music - and Julia just nails it with grace. :)
My goodness! Your right hand is so strong and you play with such control in your fret hand, all while playing with a very mature groove with a great tone! Your have such wonderful command of the instrument! I listen to bass players everyday. Even at your age in 2015, you were THE cleanest young bass player I've seen. You are tremendously inspiring. I have to finish this message to go practice!
I think you have absolutely great talent! It's refreshing to see youth engaged in positive healthy activities! Music is life! I'm only 35 but still... Much respect! Thank you!
I recently came across you and im amazed by how good you are. And the fact you play Jamiroquai from the good old Zender days and being so young! Respect to you. Clearly you were born to play bass. Keep bringing the groove.
Julia, I am in Melbourne Australia and love this clip. You are so in the groove with this song and an amazing talent. Reach for the stars girl, your awesome!
Just stumbled across this channel a few days back, thank you for keeping me sane through exams with these videos! This has to be the grooviest one I've heard yet!!
I played this as one of the pieces for my final high school music exam way back in 2010 and i did good but you’re so clean with it and the technique and tone is on point. Love it!
@@MartinKMusicProductions Alright, stop right there. This girl is good. Really good. And for her age, she's ridiculously good. What she is not, is *better* than Paul Turner. I get that you were pissed off when Stuart left the band in 1998, we all were! He was great but he obviously wasn't the heart and soul of Jamiroquai as they have been banging on without him for over 20 years and they are just as good as they've ever been. Also, in my opinion, Paul Turner is the best bass player they've had since Stuart left. He's freaking amazing. If you stopped listening to the band in 1998, I just feel sorry for you, man. They've released a ton of bangers since then and their live shows are still amazing.
I love your playing, but.............. You are not snapping the string where you are supposed to, and that is where I have the problem with your playing!
@@myklallen7184, If you would be so kind as to do a video of the cover played the "right way", I'm sure everybody would love to see it, (at least I know I would). Let us know when you post your video. Until then, we will have to "settle" for Julia's cover.
I've been learning to play this since November, I keep coming back to this vid as the gold standard. Just watching hand positions is so helpful 🙏🏻 thanks Julia you are a legend 😍
