$399 for an entire S809 5.0 set, (2 tower, 2 bookshelf, 1 center), I think it’s hard to beat lol. Also got a Denon x3500h for $529. Picked up the matching atom speakers for $149 and a BIC PL-200 II sub for $299. Not bad for my first HT set 🤷‍♂️

That was an awesome review. Love all the history and background information.. They sound ideal for my bedroom system with small Yamaha amp. Hearing a pair of Jamos for the first time in 1984 piqued my hear and got me started on my road to audiophilia.

Clavinetjunkie is good, too. He's just not in the bookshelf speakers. He's into BT and headphones. But both these guys are great. Rtings 3rd, Z 4th. Mainly because of the objectivity (factual data) if the reviews rather than just opinions being thrown around by one of these guys (can you guess which one?) 🙄

Hey Joe! Just like all the other comments, I just wanted to say how much I like your style and honesty. One thing that really distinguishes you from the other audio channels is taking measurements of the speakers you review, recording them with calibrated measurement microphones and not fancy rødes designed to color sound and the way you did the sound demo with these speakers, switching between the recorded audio and the original track. That really brings out the sound signature. Keep it up my mans🤙

When I hear them through the smsl as 300 that I bought I'll let you know how I like them. Another impressive product. Just having trouble with the sound. Still working on it. Jamo surprised the shit out of me. I bought a 5 piece set in offerUp consisting of two tower speakers, a center and two small bookshelf speakers all for $60 with an older Onyko AVR. The Jamo S426 speaker package. Was just going to use the towers and AVR for my gym. Wasn't expecting anything other than very low quality speakers. What I actually got are some towers that actually best my $2500 KEF towers. I couldn't believe how good these speakers sound, its very surprising. They look real nice as well.

Hype and emotion is fine sometimes. It can be exciting and entertaining. I try not let my emotions overcome my logic though. I've been hyping up the ELAC UB5's and Pioneer SP BS22LR's for a long time but I really do love them.

As EVERYONE has said before me, this was an incredibly thorough, useful and entertaining review. Great explanation of your opinions. I wondered at first; you seemed a bit wish-washy. But after watching & listening, your “depends” conclusion made total sense. Klipsch makes a couple powered monitors lines, the affordable R-15PM & 14PM, & the reference level R-51PM & 41Pm. It would be cool to see how these stack up vs. Vanatoo & Kanto powered speakers. (I own the Kantos). Thank you!

I have a pair of the S803s in white. I have used them as rear channel speakers due to the imaging. Since I moved to smaller residence they are being used for front channel speakers. I picked mine up from Crutch field for 149!

I own these. I also own 7 other pairs of great speakers so I didn't really need these, which detracts from the excitement level for me personally. If I had no other speakers, these would be worth the price and I could be quite happy with them. They are still a bit revealing for the hodge-podge of available mainstream music quality. They are potent though, and will fill a pretty good sized room with music that is louder (they are clear enough to fool the ears with loudness) than you may realize and they project it well into the room.

I reviewed the F5.2 towers. Similar sound, but they just have more bass. The B6.2's might even play a bit lower but with less authority than the F5.2's.

7:00 so great that you caught those differences! My gosh that randomness. One person could have two speakers without that, another could have two speakers that both had it, or like in your case, one had it. That's a major find and when we look at the ports, we see they have that plastic thing mounted there or whatever, and it's like... somebody on the factory line didn't glue this one right. Whereas if they had made it less pretty, just a slat without all the pretty, they would have guaranteed more consistency between speakers.

Love the style of this review. Personal opinion, backed up by some audio science, and then ranking them in groups the way you did! Perfect for someone who’s watching these reviews and trying to figure out how one speaker compares to another. I would be very interested to get your opinion on the Sony core SS-CS5. Instead of a V frequency response they are flat or maybe a little peaked in the middle. I’d also love to see how the Sony’s fit into your ranking. Klipsch too lol

I really like the sound of Jamo speakers, i'm have build a 5.1 setup at my entertainment center about 10 years ago and use predecessors of these as my rear speakers. For me living in an apartment I won't be playing my setup too loud so I really like how they sound at lower volume's. You should checkout their towers as well as their base is also great in my opinion and for that reason I won't always power up my sub and people are around they suppressed when I tell them I haven't even powered up my sub yet.

Love your reviews. I thought the S803 was too brittle for my taste, and I like speakers with a little bite. But I am accustomed to listening to my ADS L780's or my Def Tech 2002's (I think....haven't moved them in a while).

I'll be trying these in a fairly large room where I'm currently pushing KEF Q100s with a 50wpc hybrid tube amp, from which I recently REMOVED my subwoofer. It's our sitting room and the new KEFs had so much low end on their own (for their size) that I was able to make my wife happy by de-cluttering that woofer to another room. Hopefully that doesn't turn out to be a mistake...

Great review! Haven't heard these but, I have heard some Jamos in the past. Bookies. Demo sounded fine, although colored by youtube compression and my desktop speakers (you might remember these, just bought a pair dirt cheap that have replaced the former Micca MB42X, the almost vintage, now, Pinnacle PN5+ which also have a little of that boosted bass and treble which is what made them famous back in the day! Have to keep them several inches from the back wall or else the bass will overwhelm everything. Cheap Audax Tweeter does a surprising job at imaging, though it can be a little bright and has some sibilance). Also have a pair of Elac Debut 6.2s which I think have a "fuller" sound. A more complete and balanced sound than what I hear from the Jamos in your demo and in Tharbamar's recent direct comparison videos-6.2 vs. S803. The Elacs have greater WEIGHT to their presentation and you can play them as loud as you want, though not quite as bright or perhaps overly lively like that Jamo tweeter. Certainly the Elac tweeter has tons of resolution, equal to or greater than the Jamo tweeter. It's just that the Jamo is even HOTTER, lol!

If you get the opportunity, review one of the Monolith subwoofers (preferably the 12" or 15") and the Monolith Cinema 5 bookshelf speakers and Cinema center channel.

Great review. I have the original Elac B6. I purchased these based off the recommendations from another reviewer, Zreviews. I love my Elac B6, but these Jamo S 803 are amazing, and better, IMO. The detail and soundstage is what I'm most interested in and these are superb. Listening is subjective, but also when measurements are taken in to effect it can have an objective argument. I have only listened to the Elac Uni-Fi at a Demo, and they sounded great. But at $199, these are hard to beat. Even at the suggested price $299, there isn't a speaker out there that sounds better. Thanks again!

Zeos Pantera knew that there was something special & " magical " about this particular model of speaker line up from Jamo but he didn't do any testing like you did to figure out why. Zeos did do a sound Demo though. I am very impressed by your testing and explanation of these Jamo Speakers. You have come a long ways since when you first started out. once again, thanx. I will be purchasing a pair of these in WHITE for my porch. I just purchased an original ( T-amp ) @20 wpc-rms. Texas Instruments amp chip. if that's not enough power then I will use my SA-98 SMSL high power class D amplifier. that will surely do the trick. I also have a mini spectrum analyzer/Equilizer from Behringer. that I will hook up between my CD player & amp

Paired with a decent amp, with optical input, I think these are great with a TV. You may want something with a remote also. I would recommend anything less than an SMSL AD18 which I've reviewed.

Great review style. Love the sound demos with the reference tracks mixed in. Great idea. These Jamos don't seem too far off the reference if you ask me. Certainly not bad for $199 speaker. Jamos impress me every time I hear them. You should audition some of the more midrange Jamo speakers like the C103s. I would also like to see a review of the Buchardt s400. Happy holidays.

I like the look of the white for sure but not a fan of the walnut accent. If we wanted walnut wood color we would have bought the walnut wood color. The grills are beautiful though. @Joe N Tell - please review some Polk speakers. Would LOVE to hear what you have to say about some of them.

Great review overall. Bit different than my experience with them, chiefly that mine sing well when pushed, but you provided quality insight and measurements. Worth mentioning that they can be had for $99 right now at at least one large brick-and-mortar retailer. For that price I feel like they're a truly fantastic value.

@@joentell The 803s; the 801s are marked at $89 and I was just there (Nebraska Furniture Mart) yesterday. Even the S809 towers were only $299 a pair. Oddly enough they don't have any of the Jamo stuff on their website so maybe they're clearing it out for whatever reason or just avoiding being used as a price match. As an unrelated follow-up, how far away is your listening position when doing your reviews? I really like your approach.

Definitely a steal at the price....the Sony is still a better speaker and it's probably on sale for under $75 I'd like to add the 803 to my fleet it's a lil lighter than usual right now...lol

I loved the higher frequencies on the Jamos compared to my Logitech Z906 (Female Vocals/Instruments) which is probably due to my satellite speakers not having tweeters - I couldn't understand why EDM sounded worse on the Jamos from this clip when compared to the source material, I've put it down to the 80hz slope which is causing my speakers to play the music coming from the Jamos with less of a noticeable tonality at lower frequencies, almost like it has been EQ'd - I imagine the recording of the music coming from the Jamos will have an effect on the quality of bass that I'm used to coming through my speakers/sub when the sound coming out is a recording with less of an emphasis on bass/lower frequencies. Great vid thanks, for the price you cant go wrong, and pair them with a sub that has a frequency crossover of 80hz (which is already considered industry standard) then you get the best of both worlds. However, the only negative that stands out to me is they don't play that well at higher volumes, granted I only push around 110 dbs at house parties once a year, I'm still undecided if its worth investing an extra 50% to void this issue.

Honestly....expecting those to not have some level of distortion below 45- 50hz is a bit unrealistic...they're just not designed to produce those frequencies efficiently....I'd probably set the low end cut off to about 50-55hz and let the sub do what it does best....I'm betting those would pair well with the new SVS micro 3000.(white of course) 😀

Hey Joe, check to see if that ~30Hz distortion is because of the white plastic surround/guide on the woofer not being glued down entirely. People on r/Budget Audiophile were receiving speakers where that ring was coming loose. It's hard to tell, but I thought I even saw it move in the video footage.

I got the entire surround package for 299. Not bad considering I got the smaller surrounds and center as well as the 803s

Theese sound really airy and spaceous but have recessed mids and kind of cut off bass. Your words match with what I've heard, great review! Also really really great sound demo format!

Bass is that way because they are 4.5 inch and not 5 therefore they cannot go as low as 5 inch woofers, so it would be good to pair these with a sub.

They might sound better with a sub on 80 hz. The treble is a bit bright and lower med is lacking compared to the other speaker that is a bit "muffly", though.

Could you use a biwire cable with the atmos module, that splits and then one channel will get both speakers? I bet in stereo with those top atmos modules sending additional base up it would be cool...I'll try it!
