... and here is one of my "This and That Only" jams, and believe me: I just love them. It is so satisfying to get the most out of it with few buttons and functions.
I have also found that jams that I do a little practice with or do a little preparation for don't usually work afterwards. The result is simply not nice. I actually have the best results when I sit down, press record, and then upload the jam exactly as it is. Out of the mixer, so to speak.
Such a "sit down-record-uploading" jam is today with the Volca FM, in the depths of which I still have not fully penetrated. I am still fascinated by what I can do with FM synthesis.

Most of the Time I am using the Specular Reverb v3 for my jams.
Sometimes the NTS-1 with the Cathedral Preset or just the iPad.

I enjoyed that. Inspires me to have a go with my FM. I am looking forward to downloading the DX7 Harp patch from Synthmata. Will have to read up what Dexed means but it sounds very professional . In order to fit in with all this I can see I really need ti get Dexed Man!! Ha ha ha .

Dexed opens up the world of DX7 patches for the volca FM ... There are 100th of 1000th of them. If you need help we can to a discord video session ..

I've actually been using my volca FM in the last three tracks I made. Put in arpeggiator mode and in the 1/4 Tempo setting, it's a beast for bass lines!🎹🎧💫😵👌😎👍

Volca FM is clearly the most challenging of the 6 Volcas I currently own.

Two comments: on the advice of a friend the Volca FM was my *first* and, for a while, only synth. Oscillator Sink's tutorials are true gold. It's wonderful and informative to watch and learn from various youtubers jam, but his breakdown of things is informative in a different way. Videos about style and others about technique, I think one might call it. Each is equally important to music!

Oooh the transition at 5:20 is beautiful! Very nice buildup of tension. You inspire me to do more with my Volca FM (I really should), but I sometimes struggle to get the nice fat bass tone you have here.

Volca FM ist a good choice but not to learn something about synth ...here you better take the bass or keys.

@@Volcaniced Thanks for the input. I might be able to cope with the FM if I weren't so exhausted in my free time. For that reason I've also been considering the Keys. Another You Tuber also mentioned the FM might be a bit much for a beginner. Luckily each is only $150! Best wishes.

@@MrJackal43 Well, I now own a Yamaha Reface CS, Arturia MicroFreak, Arturia MiniBrute 2, ASM Hydrasynth desktop, and Waldorf Blofeld desktop. One of these days I might actually buy some books for beginners in subtractive and waveform synthesis. Until then, I will continue to make noise.😂 Thanks for the tip.

I'm a true novice about synthesizers and electronic music, I own a Volca Drum and am having fun learning it, but would like a new Volca for melodic stuff. Everyone recommends the FM, but I'm a little intimidated by it's depth and the concept of FM synthesis, what say you? Is it a good choice for a beginner like me or should I try something else? Edit: I can only afford one at the moment so it would be the FM OR Bass OR Keys etc..

I would prefer the Bass cause of my style of playing but the FM is full of possibilities cause of the whole DX7 stuff ....
