Please not another year.😊 - History shows that great athletes did well to end their active careers when it was time. I think, it's time now. Especially after his great win @PTO US Open. Leaving the party at the right time is (mostly) a wise decision! This is also what distinguishes an exceptional athlete & human. In my eyes, Jan is both. I'm German, admire Jan and without him I might not have started our great sport a few years ago...yes, I "love" him & I hope he sticks to his decision. Greetings from Berlin🙋‍♂️

History shows one thing…. We all die and never return. Life is not a fairytale so why seek a fairytale ending.? If you love what you do then do it for as long as you physically can and milk every ounce you can out of this life while you can. You’re retired a long time. If he still has the fire to train and compete then keep going.

I dunno. I absolutely get exiting at the right time... but also maybe coming back like so many of the greats in other sports did? Triathlon is young... what if he took a full year off, and then returned for a triumph run at Kona when the men go back? Then he could have 2024 off and plan to come back for one last loop on the island - send him off in even greater style?

He should retire because he wants to. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with him continuing and falling back in the field for years IF he wanted to keep racing though.

@@yesitis1395 Agree. But I also think that's just a fan problem, it's not fair to strip Jan of more fun because some fans have imaginary beef with other fans, but that's just me, would love to see Jan for another year.

I can’t remember Triathlon without Jan in the top flight, but Father Time waits for no man. There are so many young athletes pushing the standard ever further now, the competition is brutal. Still, it’s wonderful to see one of the all time greats still pushing.

Not few suspect a form of doping. Seen nothing else like that in the running world. Maybe a future Lance Armstong moment. Which was clear for me from the start. I would not be suprised. Or he has some special geenes, and or there is a special norwegen training secret. Time will tell. But he supposed to have 74-76 kg which is in line. Maybe very light bone structure 176 is not tall.

Yeah. Lacks humility. Thinks too much of himself. Look at Messi. Even though it is another sport, he is the undisputed goat and it never got to his head, showing humility is a quality you have or you don’t. Just winning lots of championships doesn’t mean you must be cocky. I don’t like him either.

Jan could never match KB or MA. They could crossover all distances in a season and be at the top. That took Jan 7 years because he was always a one distance ability athlete who lacked GOAT ability. Jan was never a well-rounded complete triathlete, and with well-rounded, complete athletes like MA, Taylor Knibb, KB, and Iden, we know just how incomplete Jan always was. And Jan can't win on tough courses like St. George or Nice.

YOU have no idea of Triathlon! Jan is the GOAT and nobody says something different. No media, no fan and even more important, no athlete. He dominated in 70.3 and IM over years!!! You should do your homework and respect the GOAT
@israel_started_it_ALL_in_1948
@israel_started_it_ALL_in_1948 7 месяцев назад
@@jonathan9506 Waiting for anyone to prove Jan overtook MA's GOAT standing.. Then we'll move onto KB. How many people have won Kona? How many have won short course and IM world titles in the same season. Game. Set. Match. First tri in 88', U.S. Jr. nat team (2 years). Trained at the OTC in the Springs to prep for Jr. worlds. Later, collegiate national champ (non-drafting days), then professional. So, when did you get your IM tattoo? The year after you got your first 70.3 finishers t-shirt? Stop disrespecting our sport with stupidity. Jan's best ever Kona was beaten by 3 Kona rookies, two who are SHORT COURSE athletes, and 2022 was a windy day. A short course athlete is ranked #1 in the world. He is better than everyone on the planet and long course is only his part-time SIDE HUSTLE job. Jan was never good enough to ever have a side hustle... his ability always limited him to focus and excel at ONE FOCUS during a season. crossover is reserved for GOATS.... But let us know when Jan goes back to WTS and super league while he is also winning IM / 70.3 world titles in the same season. 🤡
@pal_lokomotivet2679
@pal_lokomotivet2679 7 месяцев назад
Pleas use arguments. What is wrong with what was written? Jan wasn't good at short course at all. Short course is much more competitive. Jan used years to transition. Kristian could go head to head with the best in sprint and ironman within weeks. And the long course circus was just semi pro this years Jan dominated. Full of old race horses. When the norwegian train came and showed a new level of professionalism the rest of the field kicked up their level to.That and PTO putting more money into it. Making it worth it for the best athletes to do longcourse in their prime age. Not being a retirement place @@jonathan9506

@@israel_started_it_ALL_in_1948 you are talking too much… Jan is the GOAT and no You Tube discussion has to prove that. Just ask the people… the athletes and you‘ll get the answer. Bye
