Jan Jensen to become next head coach for Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa's women's basketball program has had two Hall of Fame coaches, Lisa Bluder and Vivian Stringer who is the first coach in NCAA history to lead three schools to the Final Four including Iowa in 1993.

Coach Bluder said she's gonna retire soon and pass the torch to coach J. She had a beautiful run and decided to retire on a high note. She did a fantastic job with all these girls. They are good players but they are also good kind funny human beings. She made sure that none of her players lost their personality and let them become a better version of themselves.

Bluder got out at the right time. Big drop-off after CC is likely and Oregon, UCLA, and USC all coming into BIG10. All 3 are better WBB programs right now.

Only knew of her for two years, but what a great coach! As Kate Martin said, Jensen is the obvious replacement..

I think Coach Bluder did her friend Jan a solid and let her take the reigns of the Iowa Women's team. Not sure how they will do without Caitlin but we sure will be watching. Jan will do great and Coach Bluder will get a well deserved retirement. Go Hawkeys!!

Iowa needs to study how SC wins so many games & championships. We need to attract more diverse athletes to Iowa. And Iowa needs much more height on their teams, we look like midgets compared to the elite teams in the country. You don’t win championships with one gifted athlete, as we have found out. All five players on the floor MUST be aggressive and able to put up numbers! I love Gabby, for instance, and even though she was a ferocious defender, she was a very inconsistent scorer. That should not be acceptable! Iowa has every reason to think that it can make another “run for the roses”, but there needs to be some major changes and it all begins with strategic recruiting. We CANNOT continue to be viewed as “Iowa…the WHITE school & state”! This perception is killing our being truly competitive in recruiting the best players in the country. You may disagree, but I would ask you to just be open to accepting this reality, because I promise you, it is true! Go Hawks!!

Hannah Stuelke should've entered the transfer portal and transferred to LSU. Bluder made sure she waited until the portal was closed to retire. Stuelke doesn't get the respect she deserves there. She would fit in great at LSU.
