Beautiful song, I was sitting with my mother in her last days, playing her music. This song was playing as she took her last breath...a beautiful love song!

Mark.... Your comment just blew my mind!!!! I mean REALLY!! When I was 11 my mother died, leaving me and my two younger brothers with my poor dad, trying to cope. I had just gotten into Yes at the time. I sat with my 9 year old kid bro and played him Turn of the Century, showing him the lyrics. To this day we both weep (literally) when ever we hear it, and we are now in our 50s. But what really blew my mind is... my name is Mark Roberts.

@@emdiar6588 Hey Mark, Thanks for sharing your experience with the death of your mother, it truly brought tears to my eyes reading it. Apparently your family had a wonderful love for your mother, and miss her still everyday. It's wonderful how songs trigger certain memories and emotions whenever we hear them played. My best to you and your family. By the way, I live in Birmingham, AL. and there is also a fellow here, with our same name.

Jana, You nailed it. Yes was always meticulous in taking all their music through changes, sometimes chaotic, sometimes spacious, yet, each note is their by design. Even a long piece like Close To The Edge, has a complete resolution at the end, of all the movements of the song. They are Master Musicians.

OMG!!!! I watched 3 seconds of you guys and started laughing because I connected with you........so I had to see what you thought or felt about my all-time favorite rock band who I consider is the greatest rock n' roll band EVER performing "Turn Of The Century" from their "Going For The One" album. YES is the Greatest...no disrespect to The Beatles who I love them too...But YES just gits me......hahahaha.....lol...hahaha

Love the humour and great chemistry between you two. Adds a certain something to the reaction, good job you. 😅 I can see where you need to go next and apart from the others mentioned already, my guess is (and I think I'm going to be right 😉) is with 'Wonderous Stories' from the same album (Going for the One) and 'And You And I' from the 'Close to the Edge' album. If you do 'Close to the Edge' Jana will run for the hills before the intro is finished 🤣🤣

@@NathanOnShuffle I’m a Genesis fan (70’s mainly ) Floyd ,Sabbath , Hawkwind (70’s again lol) , Yes type of guy with every other era and style thrown in so even if you branch out your probably into some of that stuff too good luck with the channel it’s not overbearing like some are which come across as fake I’m sure there’s plenty of people out here who prefer a pleasant channel to a fake one. , have a great weekend 👍

I hope you caught the story in the song and not just that it had a poetic feel. There is so much to enjoy in Jon’s reinterpretation of the Pygmalion story. Just to say also... you talk about the complex bits and then say you like it when the melody comes ‘back in’... there are melodies in the complex bits too! If you re listen again and again to this track and become more familiar with it you’ll slowly access those complex parts as brilliant melodies too. It’s a kind of music that keeps on giving more - the more you listen to it.

You could have done Wondrous Stories also.(same album).And I am not sure either one of you got the meaning of what the song was really about. The music and the story work as one. The instrumental section were feelings of Ronan coming to terms with his wife dying. At first he was obsessed with sculpting a statue of her to keep her in his life.It did not work.There was no future in it so he decided he had to keep her alive in his mind with the memories he had of them together in the past.Hence the instrumental section which respresents his struggling on how to honor her life.

Thank you, I'm glad you are liking the channel! We had comments criticizing our setup on the Roundabout video so we are trying to re-arrange the room and figure out a better spot. I do plan to put up some records behind us on the wall in the future to hopefully improve the background. But, thanks, feedback is always appreciated!

I see a number of other good songs in the comments. 'Wondrous Stories' is probably the most accessible, but 'And You and I' from Close to the Edge is great as is 'Onward' from Tormato and 'To Be Over' from Relayer. I think she would like all of these...
