Afraid that Hoyt's assertion he and Maura are just alike, Maura confides in Jane who offers comfort. From the S1E8 episode I'm Your Boogie Man For Entertainment only. No copyright infringement intended.
About 15 minutes earlier in the episode, Jane was looking at the scene photos of Hoyt's damage to her hands with Korsak and suggested Korsak could never trust her as a partner again because he had seen her broken. He exactly paralleled the way she took Maura's hands into hers, to offer Jane reassurance that Hoyt could never break her unless she allowed it. This episode showed how similar Jane and Maura are despite all their differences...
she does say it; about 6 minutes earlier in the episode, Korsak held her hands in just the same way when she was crying over how 'broken' Hoyt had made her. Korsak comforted her by saying that Hoyt could only break her if she allowed him to. She is now offering Maura a parallel comfort.
I love this show, so sooo much, but it just seems like such a waste of sexual tension. How can anybody denie that these two people are perfect for each other? Honestly, I think almost every single fan of the show expects, or at least wants, them to get together. I'm sick of all this crap from the writers that they're just two strong females who are best friends and so on. Why can't they just accept that they should be a couple? NOTHING would make me, and a lot of other fans, happer. Seriously.
Jane should have said.... and you're my friend or and I love you...or something else that made Maura feel as if someone accepted her. Validation is good, but acceptance is full tilt. Still a great scene!!
