Society has become fixated on monitoring lives of people who oftentimes showcase very private issues, using very unflattering language, and put their family angst on display. This family has known crisis. Health and other issues that put them in a challenging situation. They are making a concerted effort to bring this beautiful property into the Awareness of others, generate flow of tourism, therefore counteract the last year and a half of deficit. The small staff that runs this estate has a livelihood.. Unless it is a living museum, it's going to be jeopardized. Considering the amount of work to be done, including livestock, it seems that 10 people is a very small staff. I would much rather watch The light-hearted adventures of this family as they creatively band together to maintain this historical home. Some people gravitate to other sites where families display their eccentricities, their indulgences, and broadcast their marital woes. I find this refreshing.... this couple of almost 20 years has such a flow, a comfort level to put their banter on display. It is always Kind and whimsical and those who love them "get" it.
For honoring the past Julie. Thank you. You honored those that walked before you as if they are going to walk in the door at any moment. And you are doing your utmost to prepare in a way that is worthy of them. Bless you.
Julie, I'm at my parents house. Mom passed away and Dad is in a nursing home currently. With great ceremony and respect I'm cleaning and moving her Asian dolls and her huge gold fan on the wall. Even if they have chips, they were sacred to her. I have begun to give away her clothing. Her red silk jacket, embroidered in black flowers, hangs on her door. I am playing over and over again your videos. I know you would understand. Thank you so much for getting me through an incredibly pivotal time in history. I close my eyes and look ahead and peek over the fence. I see them coming back. Mom, Alberta, Gorgeous Grandma with a soul to match.I wish I could save every treasure that she cherished and duplicate her home for her. Her silver plated water pitcher has tarnished. Bought her a replica. I don't care if I have to bury them somewhere to that they make it through the end of this insane chapter in history. I want her to come back to find that some things were set aside for her. Japanese kimono that hung from the ceiling. I wish you were closer. I would give you her silk Chinese ivory dress. Floor length. It would fit you...her anniversary gift from years ago.... It is a very rainy day here and I appreciate being able to have your company, even if it's through the beautiful videos that you have so carefully proposed with your heart. People want modern, updated, renovated. Mommy was the exact opposite. She would run her hand over old scarred wooden table and said " Just clean it. Put a coat of sealant on it." An amazing caring human being that treated everyone and everything with respect.
Julie, I am totally blown away by the wallpaper that was behind you when you were reading Alberta's letters. We had an attic and the house was from the late 1800s. I begged my dad to leave the wallpaper undisturbed. I have a photograph up there with a gas lamp. I bought the house in a tax auction. After being damaged in a fire. We restored it. Unfortunately my dad ignored my plea and went up and tore down the wall that had the beautiful turquoise and brown wallpaper.... spitting image of what you had on the wall behind you.Rich, velvety, I don't know if it was a screen, was mesmerized looking for a close up of it again. I sobbed when I realized my Dad had disregarded my very specific plea to leave the wallpaper intact. Today I found the picture.
I can't wait to see this. The aerial view of the city was beautiful. i am an American and plan on visiting the UK for the very first time next year and Bath is one of the stops along my tour. I am VERY excited! Greetings from Northern California :)
Hi, you may enjoy looking at these videos by Kirsten and Joerg, if you have not seen them before, they film at many gardens and country estates, ru-vid.comvideos
@@gerardacronin334 Yes, that would be my thought about this video also. It needed to be longer so that the Roman Bath (and tea room) and the cathedral could be explored inside. Also the assembly rooms need a fuller treatment.
Bath and Jane Austen...definitely linked together for literary romance! My favorite novels by Austen set in Bath were Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. JJ Feild was to die for as Henry Tilney in Northanger Abbey! Sigh!
You are SO IMPRESSIVE in ALL you do! Thanks for showing us Yanks up as loving, appreciating, and embracing a new country and wow, what a life! Busy lady 🙏🤗💪🏼😁

What a delightful surprise! Julie, this was perfect. I saw the movie Emma in March 2020, just before the first lockdown here in San Antonio, Tx. During the chaos of the last year I turned to someone who always makes sense, Jane Austen. I have reread all her books in the last year. Just picked up Sense and Sensibility again this weekend. The shot of the street as you approached the abbey was gorgeous. How wonderful to see your family's crest on the abbey's door! Great choice to explore Bath.
I loved this episode...I have always wanted to come to England and immerse myself in the history, but unfortunately it is not going to happen...Thankfully I can get a glimpse into your serious it's just wonderful.

So blessed to have this beautiful city as my hometown! It's always lovely to see people make videos about it, walking around the streets I know so well and being so awestruck.
Oh my gosh, that was spectacular!! Bath is one of my favorite places in the world!! Unfortunately I didn’t know to eat a bun while there!! I guess I’ll just have to go back! Love from Southern California 💗
Hello Julie I have the Royal Crescent as my background on my laptop. I have found your show and Mapperton and I just love it. As I have said before I am an American lady who has loved British history for over 25 years. Not just the monarchy etc but the actual history. All periods you cannot make this stuff up. Thanks !!

What a lovely, informative day in Bath, England. You are marvelous company, I have been transported out of my room on a beautifully historical trip. Thank you so much for taking so many on a to a place we may never see personally. Good on you! ❤️
I came across your channel a few weeks ago and love it! It's nice to see an American's view on British topics especially since you are a Viscountess. I visited Great Britain for the first time in 2018 and loved it. I loved visiting Bath . I also visited my ancestral home of Raby Castle and that was so cool to see where my 18th great grandparents lived. I enjoy your videos and as a fellow Midwestern am happy for your success! Thanks for posting!
I love this episode 💖! Your hat and dress are lovely! Your bun reminds of the Pillsbury Biscuits that are flaky, buttery with lots of layers! 😊 Amazing video!

Thank you for the wonderful tour of bath. The Jane Austen shop, was just beautiful and I could have purchased every one of those hanging ornaments. Re the Sally Lunn Buns, from Bath to New Zealand, we have them here except we usually cut them and butter them because the top of the bun is covered in a mixture of coconut and a type of stff mock cream. Fond childhood memories.
Love Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice as well as Emma are my favorites of her writings. Bath is beautiful! If I ever visit the UK, Bath will be on my list. Always look forward to your episodes. Your energy reminds me of my sister in law, every time I watch you :) It's a good thing, she is a wonderful woman. Thank you for sharing your journey's!

Love this video on Bath! Vicountess Julie was fabulous! It was touching when she showed us the Montagu crest on the doors of the abbey. Julie is so lucky...she doesn't need a Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy when she has a delightfully amusing Vicount Hinchingbrooke!😊
I recognize the tiara in the introduction as her tiara. What a glamorous land to live in. Such architecture, styling and residents. Thank you so much for the tour of Bath. How wonderful to find the Montague family crest on the doors! Wow, what a heritage you have obtained. Blessings, Julie.
Ive visited Bath and it was one of my favorite cities. Loved the architecture, tea rooms, Roman baths, cathedral, pubs, Royal Crescent, and so much more. If I could live in England, Bath would be my choice. York would come in second. Greetings from the State of Maine.
Great video👏👏. I live in Bath and I recommend anyone to visit. For such a small City, there is much to see and do. These people lived in Bath: Jane Austen H. G. Wells Charles Dickens Thomas Gainsborough Mary Shelley Horatio Nelson Sir Winston Churchill To name but a few. Lots of History indeed. The Roman Baths themselves are quite stunning and worth a visit on their own.
this was very nice...from the shopping to the Jane austen era music in the video.the first Time i Heard of bath was from the film the Duchess and then the film persuasion..theres Always that line "what brings you to Bath?"..must have been a important place back then.. can tell that the Romans layed the foundations with that lovely arch..and the georgian architetture on top is just a dream. Lovely video.

Hi Julie, The city of Bath and the Royal Crescent were my inspiration for my novel The Journal of Henrietta Grasso, a story of love, time travel, art, music, antques...I purchased an antique print of the Royal Crescent when I was there which served as my muse. The Palladian Bridge in Prior Park is spectacular. Thank you for showing us your world! Carolyn, A fellow American from Philadelphia❤
Another winner. Combining one of my favourite authors with one of my favourite towns. A great taster but, to anyone who hasn't been there, Bath and the surrounding area has so much to see you could easily spend a week there and not see half of it.
Wow, absolutely loving this style of videos you are now doing, Julie! Currently watching Iford Manor and Gardens and that place is absolutely stunning. Thank you for coming to RU-vid! A sly request for additional Jane Austen locations would be so exciting ☺️

Hello Julie - It is such a perfect weather to capture this beautiful city, Bath! Well done..It brought back a lot of my old day memories. I must say honestly it is so much easier to adapt to your not over-exaggerated, not so loud America tone. Hope you can keep this calm tone voice but also present your personality. Look forward to many more manors, cottages, city discoveries to come. My best congrats!
Absolutely wonderful to see how your channel has evolved to what it is today. Has this ever crossed your minds (you and your team) that unconsciously you are creating a tourism circuit of the British aristocracy? I don't believe it was ever done before in this manner. Bravo!
In the UK we have programmes on TV that explores these areas but obviously they're not accessible outside the UK. I love these videos Julie is making because she's showcasing more of what the UK has to offer.

A cute video of you in Bath! I must tell you, though, it's NORTH-eng-er, not North Hanger Abbey. There are no hangers involved! lol I love what you are doing to showcase your life in England, show us the lovely gardens and historical building restoration. It's all part of the beauty of England and I so admire the way the British honor their historic buildings with restoration, allowing the public to visit and enjoy the homes, gardens, grounds. Wish the US did more of this kind of thing! Keep up the good work! Thanks for making the series on RU-vid!
I heard the North Hanger too (lol), but that's one of the lovely things about Julie---she's so authentic and still very American, which I love. A great quick and dirty video on Bath.

Bath looks wonderful and I love the 👒❤️. And that giant bun that looked like a giant biscuit looked so good, wonder how some gravy would go with it. We love our biscuits and gravy here in the States 🇺🇸lol.
