The way he is holding the bridal veil as she leaves. Dang. So bitter sweet.

I love the way R is laying on the stairs. Almost like he's a drunk who has passed out heading to bed.

As an early cut I think it is not bad them two in a proper full length adaptation would be brilliant thank you for posting this rare footage never new a young Heston played this role love him in all he does especially as he's a my dad lookalike well x between him and Lancaster

Poor Charlotte Bronte...she must be turning in her grave. While I love both the book and the many film adaptations, this version hurts...so cramped and trunkated. Ick.

It cannot be told in 2 hours in my opinion.

@@lindarichter1068 One of the reasons I wish that the '43 Welles' version could have been at least a half hour more.

Well! That is a hell of a way to take a two hour movie and put into a short film.

interesting adaptation - I liked it. Thank you Capitolinattic for finding this. Not as rich as the BBC's 2006 high budget version which remains my favorite in terms af acting and script, but well done for early TV. Very interesting rearrangement of dialogue and scenes. Acting was good also - not like a later tv Westinghouse version with Kevin McCarthy which really missed the mark in my opinion.

The scene where Rochester is begging Jane not to leave him... Beautiful. That is my favorite part of Heston's performance and this whole movie. I really wish I could have met him once. Sigh.

I like it, but my favorite is 1983. He didn't fight to let her leave.

I'm still hopeful that a 2022 version of this fantastic intriguing Bronti masterpiece would be coming out.

To choose Heston as Rochester is as believable as choosing joan fontaine as Jane in another movie. Their acting ability is ok, but their characters should not be so handsome!!! I love Charlotte Gainsborough as Jane, good actress, and Ciaran Hinds as Rochester (handsome but with heavy makeup).

Wow! This must have been Heston's first acting role. He is not bad. I don't think he was better than Orson Welles (circa 1944? ). TV was in its infancy. The set looks awful.

#What an insult to Charlotte Bronte...This is why, British Classic Books must never be adapted for film or TV programming by Americans because, the Authors write from life...The entire undertaking was tasteless, bare of substance, poorly produced and very shocking to see a great Actor like Heston agree to such a role. This is an adaptation mockery, of unprecedented proportions because, it is NOT #Jane Eyre.

MSE. Dzirasa ////// I totally agree, Heston and the cast were good, however the production itself was lacking the 2006 is my favorite , the 2011 second and Dalton I think the year 1983 third, Bronte was my kind of woman.😚

This version is the worst. My favorite 2006 followed by 1983.
