Daria: "Your choice of words, stumpy."
Food in someone else's house, no touchy without asking. Basic manners. This excuse is right up there with "Well, why were you wearing a mini skirt anyway?"
@@snem9381 Well there *were* all those rumors about Daria and Jane. It's even been said that it's why the writers brought Tom's character in - to heteronormalize Daria.
Another thing I love about this episode: Daria: Andrea? Andrea: Well, you found me. Now you can make fun of the pathetic goth chick whose parents make her work at a crappy job in a stupid warehouse store. Go on, cut me up like you do everyone else. Daria: I just wanted a shoe lace. Jane: Besides, I don't think we could cut you up any better than you just did. Andrea: Oh, shoe laces. Aisle 197b. Daria: Thanks. Um, we never saw you. Jane: We never saw each other. Andrea: 🙂 Andrea has a point, but with the type of students Daria and Jane are surrounded by, it's no wonder they do that at all. And I think I'm starting to understand why they took pity towards Andrea rather than "cut her up". Although she is not close to them, Andrea is an outcast like Daria and Jane. She also never changed herself for anyone or pretended to be something else. She was also one of the more tolerable students at Lawndale High, compared to, say, well, the majority of the students. I think that's why they were a lot nicer to her than she expected them to be. I also love how they never told anyone her secret. They really are kinder than they come off as.
Daria and Jane also cut down students who are blissfully unaware of themselves and think they are untouchable hot shit, the cheerleader, the quarterback, the popular fashion girl, that doesn't mean they are "mean" but they are very out of touch. Andrea on the other hand isn't trying to be better than anyone, never had, she isn't trying to be popular, she's just working a crappy job, there's no reason Daria and Jane should cut her down for that.
Really? I *almost* fancy Brittany. Well, I envy Daria in just one respect: her Jane's so much more "sympathique" than either of the horrible Janes who were in my class at school!

One of the rare times when Tom actually gets a pass here. The worst he did was eat them without asking but they were also on the kitchen table rather than with the other art supplies. Easy mistake to make and he likely wouldn’t have eaten them if he knew what they were.

This is why you should always ask before raiding the kitchen in someone else's home. But also why, if something is important and nonperishable (non-fridgable?), maybe you shouldn't leave it out where others can mess with it. I feel that both of these rules are especially important in houses with the sort of "college roommate" vibe we see in Jane's home.

This is why I don’t like using food for art supplies. I made a beautiful mural with goldfish crackers covered with blue plastic wrap in preschool but my sister ruined it by ripping into the blue plastic wrap and eating them.
Is it me, or did this show switch to digital colouring in its later seasons? If so, this is probably the best digital switch I've seen on a show - it took a while to notice. Even with _The Simpsons_ , I swear the frame rate sped up when they went digital.
In the great Jane vs Daria debate, I end up going with Daria because her strict moral code is compatible with my strict moral code. I'd love Jane to pieces but I don't think she'd love me.
I think that Jane's name should have been Constance(or "Connie" for short) instead because it means "steadfast". It would fit her because she's a very loyal friend to have.
