Song from old classic movie Pyaasa (1957) starring Guru Dutt, Mala Sinha, Waheeda Rehman, Rehman, Johny Walker, Mehmood, Tun Tun. Director: Guru Dutt, Music Director: S D Burman. Singer: Hemant Kumar.
What a beautiful song, even if i don't understand a single word i enjoying it right now for the about 20 times. i wish i understand the song. don from Australia. cheers
My 16 year old son's favorite song. He use to say amma listen this ! How fantastic this music was composed. We are from chennai. He literally adicted to this song😊
My dad used to tell us how great this song is. And my brother and I used to make faces.. make fun.. now that my dad is no more, I've learnt to appreciate the beauty of this song.
This was the only male song of Pyaasa not sung by Mohammad Rafi. Instead it is sung by Hemant Kumar and only a master like SD Burman could have realised that the underlying theme of melancholy in this sung had to be captured with a heavier (bass) voice. Ofc the lyrics of Sahir Ludhianvi are sublime as well. The line "Hum ko apna saaya tak aksar bezaar mila" is pure class.
I'm Pakistani. These songs are way before my time (grew up in 90s). But since my father passed, I look for these older songs that he kept randomly humming, and I've uncovered a whole beautiful world. Everytime I hear these songs, I imagine my dad hearing it. It makes me sad and content at the same time. Bless the people who uploaded here. ❤
Guru Dutt, I think was the only person not to get national level awards even after many superhits. .A legendary actor. ..These songs simply take you to another world oblivion to everything
Well gurudutt padukone was way ahead of his time... all his masterpieces are in Times 100 all time great movies of the world along with Satyajit ray no wonder when yu see this movie yu get to know guys talent as actor and director true legend and very unfortunate person ..
Aj kal itne deep lyrics songs kaha milte hai. 3-4 lines ko repeat gaake songs hit hojate hai. I'm from this generation but i must say this generation is so fucked up. I love old meaningful songs.
I agree too . Thing is there is no depth to anything these days .. they just want to sell sell sell .. maybe it’s the time and tide ! Maybe in some corner in 1940 there was a young man who would say “purana zamane main gaane better the” 😅 kidding ..I think the one thing I see in the old videos is the purity and innocence .. I mean life seemed simpler .. happier ..that is missing now !
As a child I used to think why my father always listens to these old songs. I used to think he just lives in past and he is old school but now that I have grown up I realised how precious and wonderful these old songs are. Now i listen to these old songs and it really gives calm and pleasure to mind that the current generation songs can't give. The lyrics aren't just lyrics they are the facts and truth that a person experiences throughout his life.
Same. I used to think what this is. After my father passed away, I realized the greatness of these songs. These songs give me very strong nostalgia and fills me with tears every time.
I started hearing this song around 1966-67. My father who just returned from Armed forces used to listen to these songs. Though i couldnt appreciate it, i felt that there was something sad in it. Hindi was quite new though i had started studying it. It was after seeing the movie Pyaasa around 1989 that i started liking it. Now its one of my favourite and i know the full lyrics by heart. Grest lyrics. Hemant kumar sang just 1 song and just see how apt it was to the occasion. All others were by Rafi sahab. It was a tragedy film like his life. 1967 to 2023 is long years and yet i enjoy it much. So many comments from all generations is a rare thing. Great Gurudutt.
I have wrote two additional lines for this masterpiece. "Jaane Woh Kesa Daur tha, Jisme Yaar ko Yaar Mila. Humne to Jab Baat bhi Ki , To Sirf Inkaar mila."
When i was a small kid, my dad used to sing to me ' Isko hi jeena kehte hai toh, yun hi jeelenge .. Uff na karenge .. Lab seelenge .. Aanson peelenge .. Gham se ab gab raana kaisa .. gham sau baar mila .. ' !!! .. Never understood what he meant back then when he sang these lines. But now, after 25 years , they make my heart cringe with sadness about the realization of individual experiences in life !!
Let's appreciate the legendary singer "Hemant Kumar" (Hemant Mukherjee) even 90% people don't know him, he was actually a legendary Bengali singer, in our Bengali community our grandparents knew him as the best legendary singer of their time, i still remember when i was a child my grandfather used to listen the same songs daily but never tired, what an era it was..😌✨
Probably the best part of old songs are that they rely on beautiful vocal more than the entire music arrangement, makes it more natural! Hats off to Hemanta Mukherjee.....
Hemanta Mukherjee had never went to Mumbai due to his love for Bengal, that's why he is regarded as the best singer of all time in Bengal, even Manna Dey does not have that magnitude of popularity as Hemanta have even today. Legend
Whenever i see something good related to films of that era ,, bengali people are always involved with it ,not being a bengali dont know what happened now
@@KT-ws7jz Because that time No Bollywood mafia culture was there. Although Some of the great singer musicians of todays era are bengali Like Arijit Singh, shreya ghosal, Shaan ,Monali thakur, Music composer Pritam ,jeet Ganguly, lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya etc.
Sorry to interrupt but it's wrong to compare Hemanta and Manna, You can't edge someone over the other and as an ardent Bengali music lover both have the same magnitude. We don't have that capability to rank them. Sorry if I offended u
Safraz Chaudry & particularly those lines: 'gamse aab ghabrana kaisey, gaam sau baar milla.....' which remind a line of Chitraji: 'U kitna baadnasib hey, gambhi jissey mila nehi..?' Well!
@@danish6958 No, Sahir Ludhiyanvi was also broken heart in real life. He couldn't got his love coz she was married. But sahir was matured enough to understand the situation. But he poured all his emotions in his songs with flavour of real feelings.
A great legend called Guru Dutt Saheb till now ignored by all filmy award giving committees. Perhaps he never pleased them in past even in dreams. Bollywood shame on you.
What a voice !! sanctity with barritone pathos !! the great Guru Dutt took a melancholic flight lending the most masculine voice of film industry for ever - legendary Hemant Kumarji -
The amount of sad energy this song has is overwhelming. Right now i don't have anyone i love or want to love, but this song still brought me to tears even without relating. So much pain in Singer's voice and such heartbreaking lyrics. Truly heart touching and heartbreaking. 🌹
I am 1989 born. I am fond of lyrics And this song is the most lyrical one I have ever heard. A MASTERPIECE I wish I could pass on this song and its meaning to my next and next generation!!
My papa and I sang this song together during our papa-daughter time. Now when he is not with us any more, this songs bring back those happy moments we shared.
Everything in this song is perfect-music, lyrics singer, acting, direction & picturization.Pyaasa is one of the greatest movie ever produced!! It is saddening to think that our Great Guru Dutt is not in our midst!
The lyrics 🥰 har ek sabad kitna pyara sa likhwa hai.. unki gehariya unk matalb.. uff .. it's rare to have such songs nowadays.. can't describe how beautiful it is 🥺
My wives favourite song, now that she is no more with me, Im listening this song while remembering our good and bad times in life that we faught through together. I miss you my dear ❤️
I'm a college guy, whenever i hear this song i recall the person i gave my heart to..... Dil k tukre toh hogaye lekin usko kabhi bhul nahi paya yaar..... Even when i see her infront of me i was not able to relate my feelings to her and just say okay to her everything...... Maybe one day.....
LOVE means to understand each other in every rough tough situation, to stand with the person in his/her bad situation and give him/ her the mental support. But nowaday LOVE is such a available word that no one can feel the exact meaning of the priceful word. Nobody actually stay with someone who loves truely. Now Love is a toxic word that is full of departure and toxicity. And this lyrics predicted the situation very early from the present. Such a wonderful prediction it was!! And the line..''Humne to jab kaliya mangi kanto ka har mila''....uffff... goosebump.❤
I can't hold my tears 😭 Every lines of these song is soo relatable. Guru Dutt such a great actor. I can feel the pain in his eye's. OLD ERA'S WEREN'T GOLD THEY WERE DIAMONDS.
Not only a great actor but also a great director , Sadly the critics bashed him, Kaagaz ka phool the song that was close to him was not appreciated after which he committed suicide :)
My father has introduced me to such beautiful songs. Papa had a radio, he used to tell us about the lyricist and musicians whenever any song starts playing. He was always so enthusiastic about songs composition team. Later we switched to CDs. At night we used to play such songs, moonlight bathing our balcony, my father talking, reminiscing old days with my mom and us, me and my siblings slowly going into slumber while music continues to play. I miss those day, we don't share the same bond now. We had fights but we loved each other. But things have drastically change now. Anger and sadness are eating us from inside.
What could be more complement to Guru Dutt, that I am listening to song he lip sung with phenomenal expressions of pain withing his soul, on his 53rd death anniversary today October 10, 2017
I come here after listening it from a insta reel, really this is a gem, lyrics are so meaning full. Stil remember when I was a kid I used to avoid this gems, you need a level of maturity to understand each lines, love it ❤️
Jaane Woh Kaise Log Lyrics and Translation Jaane woh kaise log the jinke pyaar ko pyaar mila I wonder how many and what kind of people find their love reciprocated Humne to jab kaliyaa.N maangii kaa.NTo.N kaa haar milaa Whenever I asked for flowers, I received a garland of thorns KhushiyoN kii manzil DhoonDii to gham kii gard milii Ilonged for a destination of joy/happiness, but found a circle of sadness Chaahat ke naghme chaahe to aahe.N sard milii I desired tales of love, but I received only the coldness of sighs Dil kea bhoj ko duunaa kar gayaa, jo ghamkhwaar milaa whenever I met someone meant to relieve my sorrow ,They doubled the burdens of my heart-- BichhaD gayaa har saathii dekar pal do pal kaa saath Every companion gave me a few moments of company, and left Kisko fursat hai jo thaame diiwaano.N kaa haath After all, who has the free time to hold a crazy man’s hand? Humko apnaa saayaa tak aksar bezaar milaa Even my own shadow is often weary of me Isko hii jiina kehte hai.N to yuu.N hii jii le.Nge If this is what they called life, then I will live like this Uff na kare.Nge, lab sii lenge, aa.Nsuu pii lenge will seal my lips and swallow my tears so as not to show my sorrow or sigh, Gham se ab ghabraana kaisaa, gham sau baar mila why fear sadness now? After all, I have met sadness a hundred times Humne to jab kaliyaa.N maangii.N kaaTo.N kaa haar milaa When I asked for flowers, I found a garland of thorns Jaane woh kaise log the jinke pyaar ko pyaar mila I wonder how many/what kind of people find their love reciprocated

Wonderful lyrics of Sahir & wonderful composition of SD Burman. Sahir got high accolades for his wonderful poetry & success of the movie at box office. But SD Burman got annoyed as his wonderful music got no recognition despite the fact that its music was the main reason for the movie success. So there was a break up in the relations of Sahir & SDB. Later Sahir & N Dutta team gave numereous sweet melodious hits.
I love this song when i heard this in a Pakistani drama as a theme song. My mother told me that it's a very old indian song. She passed away in cancer nearly 1 year ago. I miss her everyday. This song brings back so many memories
I am only 29 years old but bachpan se sun Raha hu, i am biggest fan of Sir Guru Dutt, Inka dimag hi sabse alag tha, kaash aaj ke time pe hamare sath hote 🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭😭😭
