Also, when a Soldier dies, the beneficiary will receive $100,000.00 IMMEDIATELY and then the life insurance pays out and last time I checked it would have been maybe $400,000.00 per Soldier. I’m pretty sure she was her son’s beneficiary since he was not married or had children.
But this was his mom not a spouse or child. And it was not service related. The idea that Garrison’s passing was a financial windfall is a bit out there.
IMHO, I think that when the OG3 left Kody and got their own bank accounts, they were able to accrue their own wealth. It's surprising how much wealth they were all able to accrue now that Kody and Robyn weren't accessing their funds. I also think that Janelle was the beneficiary if Garrison had any life insurance or maybe she was able to gain some income from the sale of his townhouse. Regardless of how, I think she is financially better off now than she was when she first split from Kody. And she is leaving a legacy asset to her kids. I applaud her for changing her financial situation around. If Garrison's assets have helped her purchase this property, I am happy for the family having a legacy asset to share for generations to come. Good for Janelle. I hope she feels Garrison's presence on the land.
Garrison was not active duty, so the same rules don’t apply. However, it is very likely that he did have a policy through the Army and she was the receiver. If so, I think her buying the land she did is a way to give all the kids a plot of land and build a family “compound”.
I respectfully would like to question one specific thing you said: that Kody has ‘been taking care of her’ for years. I actually think it’s more so the other way around: SHE has been taking care of HIM for years. His employment record was always spottier than her, and apparently it was Janelle who received some kind of inheritance that she put towards the down payment on the Lehigh house for ALL of them. And frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if their tax returns established that she routinely earned more GROSS income per annum than he did, consistently (before the show, that is.). I think Kody was a pretty boy who was ‘kept’ by 3 women for a couple of decades, until these same 3 women were made to keep both him and his new, younger, more demanding, more preferred & overwhelmingly more coddled new ‘wife.’
I have a relative with two children . She worked & works most of her adult life . As her husband always had a different job , every time you would see them. Sadly he passed away in his 50's. So that being said she is also in her 50's living from pay check to pay check. To make ends meet.
I agree with you absolutely. All of the OG wives got screwed over financially. And while Kody and Robyn will have those finances, they will lose on what is truly priceless which is the family.
Christine got the proceeds of her house, in return for relinquishing her claim on CP. She left in the best position of the three. Meri was helped by having already owned the B&B on her own, so she's just left untangling the CP mess. Janelle was in the worst position. She ploughed half the proceeds from her vegas house into the mc mansion, the rest was prob chowed by rentals all these years. Doesn't seem like she had any retirement savings. She's my age, and my little pot looks scarily inadequate. I can't imagine how insecure she feels. Glad she has a home at least.

Robyn and Kody may have a bulk of the show money, but they are big spenders with no common sense or taste. They will be broke again in no time.
I'm with so many others--assumed at least part of it was from life insurance money from dear Garrison. What a better way to honor him, than to invest in something she loves, while (hopefully) securing her financial future. He would want that for his mom. ❤
The show is 3 years behind. Janelle had no ASSETS in her own name. She had a percentage of the CP property but could do nothing with it or sell it without the full cooperation of Kody, Robyn and Meri. She was trapped. She had no retirement investments either. Janelle had income from Plexus, 'Thrive with Janelle' and Sisterwives. Today, Janelle, Maddie and Caleb have invested in over 150 acres of agricultural land. That land can have several buildings on it including a house or 2, barns, sheds, etc. It probably took the 3 of them to pull together the down payment and qualify for the mortgage. I'm intrigued to learn more about Janelle's plans and the property. FYI: The purchase of the property closed 3 weeks after Garrison's passing. The purchase and finances were all worked out long before he died.
Oh that's interesting!!! Everything I can find says 3/28 or 3/30. Maybe those were the dates it recorded? I know it was published in county records on April 1st.
@@L0C0vision Garrison passed away on March 5th. The purchase closed on March 28th. She did not need to be in NC for closing. The legal paperwork and banking stuff would have been prepared and signed at least a week before.

Exactly! Janelle is on her own contract now. I believe that production/TLC learned how unfair Kody was with TLC money and wives with outside income. I personally believe that the digital cooking show with Christine was a way to give her an additional paycheck as she left Kody. I think Kody made the argument that Brian, Nathan and Michael were his confidantes with whom he confided trying to keep TLC from cutting his pay to 40%. Those three popped up right as new contracts were being negotiated and the OG3 were getting separate contracts.

Two years have passed since Janelle found herself in a financial hole. She had been involved in MLMs and working. It's weird that someone would expect her to be in the same position that she was before.
That comment was absurd. The commenter was clearly very fiscally uneducated. For a 50 yr old to buy a very cheap home, at under $300k, does not make them financially secure. Janelle most likely has a mortgage and no retirement savings, which is not a good place to be financially at that age.
I think her plexus sales could be quite lucrative so, yeah, she could easily have put away a down payment for this $289K property in the last two years. Building on CP would’ve been way more than this. And yes, it’s so important for her to have property separate from Kody. He might refuse to take his name off her property ever, hoping to cash in on it when they sell it.
It is not the fault of polygamy not being legal. It is the fault of the state for not locking these people up ages ago. They are financially entangled in business. So AZ could do a financial audit possibly. She made terrible financial decisions which is why I don't buy into she's so independent or smart. Imagine a man telling you hand your own money over so the new woman he's banging can pay her credit card debt. Robyn would have had to share a house with Meri because not my money. Since Garrison was an enlisted soldier there is a $500K insurance and we all know the beneficiary wasn’t Baldylocs. I had a friend suffering PTSD and she said that if she killed herself while enlisted her family would get that money, her discharge papers greatly reduced amount. Her and Christine are big in MLMs and she got the TLC money. She moved into a nicer apartment after they were done and was keeping her own money.
It is my understanding that to be awarded the trips she has been getting through Plexus, she has to be making about 300K a year. She was financially drained a few years ago but she is doing much better now. No matter how much she makes since she left Kody, she is still owed for her share of CP. I cannot see her admitting to Kody she is doing that well or he will use it as another excuse that he needs it more than she does. I would not admit it if I were her until I got my money back. I don't think it is about lying. She is protecting herself. She could have been secretly stashing money away for years as a safety precaution & I would not blame her for never sharing that fact and claiming she has nothing after all they took from her.
I think your theories on recent years of filming and having her own contract, a life ins policy and Plexxus (?)$, she’s doing ok. For now. Even Christine said to someone who asked, why she sold that stuff with false health claims, “I have a job and I’m making my own money”, she even married a well off guy. The first 3 wives have been financially abused and traumatized enough, they’ll never trust a man when it comes to their personal income again. I think Kody breadcrumbed the OG3 each season before we realized how much was gone and it was probably too late for legal action. Yes! Janelle entered the marriage as a homeowner that she partially rented to Kody and Meri. (Apparently their personalities blended fine when the rent was cheap.) Kody had to move back to Wyoming to work on the ranch because he couldn't support himself and Meri by himself. I have never heard what happened to the house Janelle owned coming into the marriage.
Honestly I believe like you two things can be true at the time of filming her check for tlc money probably went to the family fund and she needed to get that money out and she could have sold the rv and used it as a down payment we won’t know until 19 to air for us to know how she made her decisions but I am glad she is closer to her family she may need them after losing garrison
If Janelle and Meri joined forces, for the sake of what is owed to them, a forensics accountant could open up pandora's box on K & R. It would be K & R's worst nightmare to cough up what those women are truly owed after being robbed of their money...and they need to go all the way back to when they cleared Robyn's $40K of debt coming into the family. Better them than me, I'd drag them to the pit of hell for that much money over a 12/13 year period.

I think part of Garrisons concern was the well being of his mom after his dad screwed her over. If he had life insurance I feel he would be honored his mom finally got the land she was entitled too as the legacy she wanted. And I hope she names it Mount Garrison 🥰
This is why TLC really needs to catch up this season! It’s clear since splitting the money, Janelle can actually save hers. I also agree about Garrison 🙏🏾, that is probably more likely than not. Not shocking Janelle would choose to be close to her grand babies 💕.
It detest Kody and Robyn immensely, and I won't watch the show any longer. I can get my updates from people like you without giving TLC any more ratings. But I don't think it's our business to question where Janelle might have gotten the money for her property. She left Kody, she has a job, she's always had a job, so unless she robbed a bank... really none of our business.
I saw that she used Maddie's address. I didn't see that Maddie was also an owner. The county recording only listed Janelle. That's great she's doing it with Maddie.
Let's no firget, the land in NC that was purchased, has 3 names on it. Janelle, Maddie, and Caleb. There is a good chance that Maddie and Caleb put up some of the funds. We really don't know how the financing was pulled together and it's really not our business.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but from memory when Janelle and Christine went on that Plexus cruise a while back, didn’t Janelle win some top seller award? I think when you are at the top of these MLM’s you’re actually making good money right? Couple that with the money she’s making from her contract with TLC (which I imagine would have been renegotiated to a much better fee as individuals especially now they’re doing bumper ratings), as well as the fact that her money is no longer getting fleeced by Kody and Robyn, as then there is the potential of Garrisons property/insurances etc, and of course she is actually pretty good with money and lives quite modestly. I think she would be in a solid financial position. Someone also mentioned that Maddie and Caleb are involved with the property too aren’t they? Doesn’t seem like she’d be too stretched financially. I wish her all the best, she deserves a lovely place to call her own!
Janelle needs to take care of herself financial & secure her retirement. Leaving a legacy for your kids is nice but not required. Getting older & having money set aside for aging is important.
Her finances were bad after all UNTIL Garrison committed suicide...the life insurance that Garrison had paid out at least $400000. Janelle's Coyote Pass property has her nane, Meri's name on it, and Kody's name on it. You can search the property records in Coconino County AZ.
