Damita Jo was completely overlooked because it's a really mellow album, totally the opposite of what was going on in music in '04/'05 which was up-beat hip hip. Not only that, but Janet's image was unfortunatley ruined due to the SB incident and she became viewed as a joke. Everyone instantly wanted to enjoy this album but infact it takes a good few listens. Even though its a grower, it's not the best album. It has some really great songs but some songs and interludes are uneccessary.
there was talk of it.....but at the time (in the past) she felt that what she had with jimmy jam and terry lewis was where she was at and didnt need to work with anyone else.
luved janet so much for years and years but all that whispering stuff on her last albums since velvet rope such a turn off. Damito Jo has some gr8 gr8 tracks, i luv SLOW LOVE, I WANT YOU, MOIST!!! Wow! But when i hear 'strawberry bounce' i think 'dammit janet, just SING'. could be so much better if she sang like she used to on miss you much or escapade or this time. tracks like days gone by show she can still do it...
