@@joannamilano3542 if she was so important to the groups success, how could they let her go unabated with her heroin use? But you can't make anyone in that situation do anything if they're not willing themselves. DAMN. Drugs spoil everything.
Can this be anymore different to the gutless plastic music of today!? I think not. Love Janis musically but she was a total wild child and it was always going to end in tragedy.
Big Brother was great for that pshycodelic time even out of tune 'for that time's when you were stoned it sounded like part of the musical scale and even in tune other guitarists tried to get that lead guitar off scale part to sound that way in they're own songs. Janis was the only artist to get signed at this Monterey gig. I was 14 years old in 1969 when I first heard Piece Of My Heart on the radio and her voice sent me to the moon and I wasn't even stoned. The downfall of the Holding Co. was although they highly praised Janis' singing they often said she was uglier than a tramp dog and laughing. Who needs that? I'm 67 yrs old now Rock and Metal musician and she still Rocks without today's expensive vocal studio tools and live P.A. console autotune equipped mixers!
Just to be clear, as someone who was there, Janis was not universally liked or respected in her era. This was accentuated when she left Big Brother. Her "legend" grew tremendously after her passage.
I love her...but...oh my, she had no monitor, and the others out of tune...no way she knew she was off... I don't care, great camera work to see her up close with good lighting!
@@silviapistone1794 Man,what? Janis is flowing, look at the pretty flowing big hair, slip on pump heels. Janis can do no wrong. Nice body too. That screaming is some form of metal. God she's awesome.
Extremely ragged compared to the powerful launch of the CHEAP THRILLS album . This version makes plain some of the weaknesses of the band . Still , its cool to see Big Brother - there isnt much footage of them - and Janis looks great .
@@chasbodaniels1744 I dont know if youve ever noticed , but this version was available years ago , not visually , but heard in the background of the opening credits of the monterey film . Will we see the rest of the set someday ? Maybe in the old peoples home ...
