Thank you so much for this video! I have been struggling with trying to figure out how to add the ditch quilting foot to the acufeed foot and have been unable to locate instructions. This video was perfect!
Perfect explanation. I didn't know the Accufeed foot has several more attachments for various types of sewing. Well done. I'd love to learn much more about my new Janome 6700P machine. Thanks!
What an awesome idea thank you so much for this video it’s so helpful as I research the type of machine I want. Janome seems to have covered all I want 🥰 as a new quilter!
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I am 5 hours from my Janome dealer so these videos are very much appreciated. Will you be doing ruler videos as well? I have a Janome 8900 QCP and a Skyline 9, I have purchased the 16 00P ruler foot and holder but am apprehensive to do any ruler work because of the automatic presser foot.
Which is the best option for doing a rag quilt meaning just three layers. Cotton quilting fabric first layer, cotton batting second layer and flannel third layer.... Noticed a little shifting not much very slight but a little shifting... At times the flannel shifted from lining up with the cotton quilting fabric
Susan with multiple layers, we would definitely recommend a walking or AcuFeed foot. Probably just the standard foot will work, unless you need a 1/4 guide.
@@JanomeJAI I have since bought the standard open toe walking foot before your post. Really wanted the accufeed but it won't fit my machine I have a Janome skyline S3.
@@JanomeJAI you mentioned either one when I was at the quilt shop she had your manual for parts and in the book it said that the accufeed would not fit my machine? Is that true because I really would like that one I can use different feet with it that I would use more often than just the standard walking foot
@@MC1RPOSITIVESusieQ The Skyline S3 is a high-shank 7mm machine, it is not a machine equipped with AcuFeed (which are 9mm machines and have the AcuFeed system installed). There is an Even-Feed foot available for your Skyline S3 model, and is part number 200309008, and we're happy you were able to purchase it at your Janome dealer.
@@JanomeJAI yes Janome dealer even long arms....shout out to Hartland quilt shop & studio Hartland, Michigan 💕 that place! Great ppl! Emily & Saedi they're great!
What is the difference AcuFeed Foot and AcuFeed Flex are they the same thing? If not can you make a RU-vid to clarify that? I love your videos you are very thorough:)
You can, but you could also use the Straight Stitch needle plate just as you would for the same stitches without AcuFeed feet. For example, a regular straight stitch can use the SS needle plate and AcuFeed foot.
Susan, the Skyline S7 is a 9mm, high-shank machine equipped with the AcuFeed system. To make sure you are attaching the foot correctly and have the right part, please see your local Janome dealer for evaluation. Thank you for watching, and happy sewing!
Great video. Thanks so much for all the great video's. I own the Janome 8900QCP and now own the AcuFeed feet. Do I have to make any setting changes on my machine? Thanks so much.
I'm contemplating on the Janome mc9450 or the Juki DX-3000. Is there a difference between the Janome Accufeed and Juki Smart. The Jukis is built in. But is it better?
What are the settings for the stitch in the ditch foot? I keep getting puckers on the bottom. I changed the nob on the side of the machine from 0 to + and then half way in-between. The top looks perfect, the bottom stitches are shorter and puckered.
In the manual it says to push the dual feed key, which greys out most stitches, including all zigzags. I noticed you were doing a zigzag stitch at one point, so I’m confused. Can you use the the dual feed device (which appears to be the acufeed device) with all its features such as the balancing dial, without using the dual feed key?
Great question! To get the best straight stitch sewing with the AcuFeed foot we recommend pressing the Dual Feed Key. However, other stitches like a basic applique, zig zag, serpentine, and others, can also be utilized with the AcuFeed foot in place. We do suggest using caution when selecting decorative stitches that require a lot of back and forth movement under the needle as these don't receive any value by using the AcuFeed foot over the appropriate applique or decorative stitch foot
@Janice Ebel Cook yes I thought I would be able to utilize the various decorative stitches also especially for quilting. I guess it might work if u go slow
Hi Winnie, Thank you for you feedback! We are always looking to bring the best and most helpful content to our Janome family! We will be sure to add this to our list of improvements.
Thank you for this great video, I just purchased this machine and I wish you could have gave the part number\foot number for each so I could purchase them, there are so many different ones, and I just wanted the ones you have there, where can I find this information?
Love the video but just wondering what the acufeed foot attachment is called with the single hole. Is it OVD? I tried to zoom in but could see the letters. Thank you. I am trying to find the best foot for a scant 1/4”. I have a 9450 and love the HP foot but this gives a perfect 1/4” rather than a scant 1/4” which I need for a quilt with lots and lots seams!! Thanks again.
It sounds like you're referring to the Single AcuFeed VD foot. Here is the link to its product page from our Janome website: www.janome.com/accessories/sewing-machine-feet/single-acufeed-holder-and-foot/
I am confused. I have the Janome Horizon 8900. I do not have a dealer. I want to use the decorative stitches, zigzag, serpentine, etc. with the acc walking foot. I sure don't want to break a needle, or worse. I did not there was an option to change the foot. I cannot see how to snap on and off the feet or when to snap on a different foot.
Sally, the part numbers can change, so giving them in the video would eventually be incorrect. Please see your local authorized Janome dealer to purchase. Happy Sewing!
Janome 11000...just received a used machine. Can an even feed work on this? I have another janome 3160qdc... will it work on it? Love the machines But like the idea of changing feet
I have an "OD" an "SD" and an "AD" Acufeed foot. Also, an HP2 foot. I'm confused as to what each are used for and when I can substitute these feet when machine asks for non Acufeed feet. Manual not very intuitive. Thanks for your assistance.
Millie, what machine model do you own? in the Standard Accessories listing in your instruction manual, each foot is listed along with the one or two letter code along with the longer name. the OD foot has a 1/4 guide and is for quilt piecing, the SD foot is the ditch quilting foot, and the AD foot is the basic foot (compares to your zigzag foot ). The Dual Feed feet are meant to be used whenever you have layers, or something slipperly like a thin fabric to sew. The HP feet are there to give you a perfect 1/4 piecing.
@@JanomeJAI Thank you but it does seem the feet for the machines is vast. It would be helpful for you to at least have a list here naming each one and a corresponding inventory number, so anyone knows what to look for when searching various vendors for the feet.
I want to use the wide acufeed foot OD. I don't know which stitch I'm supposed to use. It never shows the OD foot. Do I just use stitches that show the O foot? I'd prefer that it tell me which stitches are available per foot, rather than guessing a stitch and having it tell me which foot to use.
DeAnna, the OD foot is a foot with a 1/4" guide, which is typically used for piecing fabric. This video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kEx5mE3kwB4.html is an overview of Janome's 1/4 feet, the AcuFeed OD foot is featured at the end of the video. When you use the AcuFeed system with your machine, you do need to make sure to engage the system - please see your individual machine's instruction manual for how to do this on your model.
@@deannas1515 , yes that is the main point, making sure that it is plugged into the mechanism at the back of the foot. However, if you wish to have more control on how the AcuFeed foot feeds, you also want to make sure the Dual Feed button on your screen is turned on. Although only straight stitches will be available, this will allow you to change the rate of movement on the upper AcuFeed foot using the dial on the far right side of the machine. What this means for you, is if you are sewing satin to velvet, you can make sure that both types of difficult fabrics are feeding beautifully together. Hope this helps!
I have a Janome Sew Precise. It is no longer on Janome's website. I cannot find much online for it either. I don't know how to know which feet my machine can use. I also cannot find a service manual for this model--I have for many other models, but not mine.
I have serger, embroidery machine, and a (sewing machine - never owned a Janome before). This is a Model #811 and can't find on the Janome website. Will this fit it? I need a walking foot, or this whatever for my sewing for thick layers. What will fit it please. Please answer.
Is there a Compensating Left Foot (Left 1.5mm) for the Janome Sky 6 machine? I saw this type of foot for Juki machine and would like one for the Sky 6, which I have. thank you.
You ocul duse the open toe acufeet foot for stitch inthe ditch but there is a stitch in the ditch foot for the acufeed holder. this had a guide that owuld fit in the ditch keeping you in line with it.
Barbara, thank you for your question. As it can be difficult to troubleshoot machine issues through social media, we can refer you to pages 16, 41-42 of your instruction manual. If these instructions are not helpful, please consult with your local authorized Janome dealer for an in-person demonstration. Thank you and happy sewing!
Linda, the flange should come already attached on both our AcuFeed and regular ditch guide feet. We suggest contacting the authorized Janome dealer where you purchased the accessory so they can assist you in this matter.
@@JanomeJAI the blade came off. I went to a Janome dealer, this a.m. and THEIR blade fell off their new foot, as well. I returned the foot, that I got from Amazon, after buying another one, from SewVac, only to get home and have IT come apart, too. I'm NOT a happy camper. They didn't have a clue, any more than I do. I've NEVER had any problems with anything Janome, so I don't understand.😭
