A tour of our new Janssens Junior Orangerie Greenhouse. The greenhouse itself is manufactured in Belgium, exported by Exaco Trading, and we purchased ours through Sam's Club. We purchased it in the summer of 2020 and put it together over 4 days in September 2020. So far we've grown a few things over the winter and are looking forward to doing a big round of seed starting in it this spring.

That's a beautiful greenhouse! The black color, as well as the shape is really pleasing. LOVE the cedar potting bench too. I'm not really in the market for a greenhouse, but if I was you'd have sold me on this one! :)

Thank.you! It is a good size! Not too big not too small. You see so many tiny yards with tiny greenhouses in the UK, I wonder what people do with them but I guess it's better than nothing.

It’s a great greenhouse! We have a similar one in our garden, same company...we live in Belgium 😉. Keep in mind that the automatic window openers need to be removed in the wintertime, they can get damaged in freezing temperatures. Happy gardening.

Interesting, I have heard that about the windows from someone in Italy too, however the US version didn't say to remove the window openers...maybe I will check with the company that sells them here.

Thank you for such good information and showing process of building this. I will look into this company. Looks like very sturdy metal construction. I heard that US made green houses come with a stronger metal construction than imported. So much to find out about when buying a green house.

Thanks for such a great video filled with so many useful tips. We live in Massachusetts and are awaiting delivery of our Janssen Greenhouse right now! We bought the Royal Victorian Antique model which is 13 x 13. We haven't figured out the heating yet but it's so reassuring to see how well yours is doing. We're also in Zone 6B and hope to grow kale, spinach, Swiss Chard and some herbs over the fall and winter and of course, seedlings in the spring. Your idea of creating small micro-climates inside is inspiring. You've just been through the winter of 22. Anything new to add to your learning? Thanks again!

If you want/need another tray-like thing like those gutters look into 'wallpaper water trays'. They are cheap, easy to make holes into em' and when you don't need them they stack into themselves..

I have the one under this one. For an anodized aluminum and glass windowed greenhouse, the price was right. 1400 sent from France. The same kit purchased in town is 2400. Go Belgium!

I just stumbled upon your channel and happen to be a Rhody too! That price is awesome for the the greenhouse. I was looking for a garden shed but omg those cost the same!! I will have to look more into this option as I have a small 6x8 polycarb greenhouse which I’m not a fan of. How did it hold up with the storm this week?

I’ve been trying to find a greenhouse for our property, and this one is at the top of my list. It’s going for about $6500 from what I can see online. Wonder if the price has gone up due to demand with COVID, like you mentioned and if they’ll go back down. Hmmmm. Food for thought. No pun intended hehe

The prices ranged from 5-6k when I was looking too. The best deal I found was getting it through a subscription club (like Costco or Sam's club). But they have to have it in stock. I believe Exaco only imports one or two times a year so it might be worth contacting them to find out when the next batch is coming and where they will be sold through.

Yes, greenhouses were a pandemic purchase item apparently. Exaco does 1 or 2 imports a year, so they might have more coming to Sams Club, but I would suggest getting on the waiting list if anyone is looking for one!

This is great! With this did you have to secure it to the ground in some way or did you just put it on top of the brick?

The company we purchased from recommended securing it one of two ways so it doesn't slide around in the wind. The way we ended up doing it was by pulling up the bricks in the 4 corners and sinking anchors into the ground below. It is just to keep it moving laterally. The greenhouse itself is heavy so it is unlikely to take flight.

I loved ur green house. How hard was it to keep the green house warm enough during the winter?? I live in Chicago and think of building one from used windows to keep the green house warm as oppose to yrs that might be expensive for heating???

Thanks! The greenhouse gets pretty warm during the day in winter, but drops close to the outside temp at night. I have a small heater on a thermostat that keeps it above 28 degrees f and only grow cold hardy stuff in there over the winter. It costs about $20 extra per month for the electric bill. There are other passive heating options I haven't tried yet. But yes, I think a wood frame greenhouse would help some, but you would probably still need a heating source for very cold nights.

Hi, My husband gifted me the Junior Vic 24 for my birthday and I’m anxiously waiting for it to arrive. I’m curious about water. Do you have a water source inside of your greenhouse and do you think it’s necessary? What about a small sink would that be useful? I’m also curious about the placements of the vent windows on the top is there a right or wrong placement for them? Thank you Jude

From the outside front of the corner to where the corner post goes into the brick, how many inches/cm is that? I have a brick wall with pillars in the corners and want to leave enough room to do a concrete pour for those corner posts.

@@kathryn.yeaton I guess, how wide is the frame? and the bracket that goes into the ground, the video shows cutting it if you can't sink that into the ground. What is the dimensions of the bracket? I have a brick wall that I am installing this greenhouse on and need to know how wide to do the top layer of bricks

Ahh I think I understand now. The frame is 2 1/4" thick. The bracket is about 1 3/4". So I think you need at least 4". The door assembly does stick out further than the frame but it's floating so I don't think you have to add that in.

@@ATappin no, I did not. I have been meaning to add some weatherstripping to help with the heat retention but haven't gotten around to it. I would recommend checking out the FB group for Janssens greenhouse owners. I believe there was a discussion about this. Also, I wish I had added a drain to the floor inside the greenhouse. This is discussed in the group.

My wife and I have been looking into these for the last few months. Do you ever wish you would have purchased a larger greenhouse, or do you have plenty of room for your needs? We have thought of decorating ours for Christmas as well as putting a small fireplace in one.

We only have a 1/3 acre property so the greenhouse is plenty big for the seed starting and other garden projects we do. We don't use it as a hangout place as the temperature is too erratic (very hot during the day when it's sunny and cold at night/winter) and also kind of damp. I might consider getting a rectangular greenhouse instead of a t-shape just because it would have been SO much easier to construct. But we love the one we have.

I gave a range in the video, 5-7k for this brand of greenhouse. Depends on the size and options you get. I believe we paid about $5500 which includes tax and shipping.
