Quakies. If you put them above the mainline, you create a small patch of aspen. If you put them above and below, the mainline, you create a giant organism that the railroad had to cut through... maybe unknowingly.. with trees 60 to 70, 80 feet on either side. Quakies are huge, and beautiful, and not always dense. Watching your trains pass behind them would be epic.
Good information. I do have some that the tracks cut through. Mostly prevalent on the far west end of the layout. I will be sure to do the same when I "Aspen up" the area mentioned. It does look good to watch a train pass behind the trees. Cheers. -grant
@@SouthernAlbertaRail A lot of modelers like to move behind the scenery. Many spots on your beautiful layout where you can do that. Trees, rocks, roads, an unexpected industry.
Great restoration job, Grant. The Aspens look very nice and some additional color in other locations will be a nice touch. Such a spectacular model railroad!! Mike
Thanks Mike. Really appreciate you stopping by. Definitely going to have to have an Aspen build session come the warm weather. -30C here right now......
Watching just how well your N scale stock rolls never gets old. I just started in with some N scale so I can participate at a club and I am ruined for anything less now, Your stock looks heavy as it rolls like a train should.
Thanks Jeff. I've made significant modifications to most of my rolling stock to get it to run the way it does. I'm happy that you noticed! Cheers. -grant
Looking good, I've always liked the vistas with the long trains... Makes me wish maybe I should have stayed in N with the amount of space that I have available😂
I'm curious how you measure your mileposts. You mentioned 1 mile is 13 feet, do you have 600+ ft of mainline, or where do you start/stop from? Great job on the scenery!!!
Thanks. I have 540 feet of mainline from staging to staging. I use the 40% rule on visible track. I employ several areas of hidden track (25 + feet) that can hide an entire train which extends the mileage.
