To add, according to Alain Prost was also careless in his early years but learned to pace himself and drive fast and learn the track and to gain seconds at the corners and stay humble off the track. This is why they call him the professor. I believe Senna mentor , his motivator or God was Alain Prost. After Prost retired Senna was unmotivated and lost Reality kicked in that the NexGen of drivers like Schumacher hill Coulthard Mika hakkenen were young and fierce and unforgiving.
@@danieldangelo7937 Senna said on a TV broadcast just prior to the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix "Come back, Alain. We miss you." Prost made a mental note to talk to Senna after the race. Sadly he never got the chance.
Imagine if F1 social media fandom existed back then: "Clearly Prost's fault, he didn't leave space for Senna! #CrashainProst" "Clearly Senna's fault, he should've backed out! #CrashtonSenna"
Well, it was mad at the time. Fans were infuriated, some hated Senna, other made clear it was well deserved. Senna was clearly willing to do whatever was needed to win.
You must have not heard that the pole position was moved to the right side where it should be on the left. The accident is inevitable in that position.
@@robertjohnasuncion8837 Except it wasn't. That was proven to be bullshit made up by Senna and Ron Dennis to try and make an excuse for a deliberate ram.
you should have seen his interview after the race lmao he had that huge smile on his face. its funny that people praised senna for that collision but people are now too busy slaughtering hamilton for silverstone
Nah he said it correctly senna actually wanted for the car to be placed even further to the left over the pit lane wall, and he'd attempt to star there
"And it's happened immediately!". Murray knew exactly what was going to happen as soon as Ayrton's request was denied. Given James's tone I imagine he knew too.
@@sz6498 Senna was only making sure not to let people murder his ass, as Balestre was willingly trying to do for the past two years back then. But barely did he knew that you DO NOT FUCK with Ayrton Senna, given his caracter and sheer will. A few years later Balestre was "all friends" with the brasilian on the podiums - knowing he would not have the upper hand anymore. Politics. To put it simple. "Fight Fire with Fire" you know. That phrase did not appear out from nowhere. It has got a purpose. You just have got a simple example of it here. As simple as that. 👍
Great commentary by Murray and James. And I think everyone knew that Senna was gonna punt Prost off the track regardless if Senna himself would be out or not
Senna was fully behind. Not the same. Lewis was alongside therefore max should have backed off. But knowing mad max he never did and fully deserve slaming into the wall!
LOL every comment is just saying "Yas Marina next weekend". I feel like modern F1 stewards would take a dim view of that, however. I don't see them tolerating a *delibrate* collision to win the world championship
Not entirely the same though as Senna knew he had to take out Prost to win the title while Hamilton took verstapen out to try and gain the lead of the championship which after the Dutch gp is being led by Max
Well in his defense senna did start a trend at winning championship in extreme manners. Most likely the same thing will happen in 2021 abu dhabi hamilton vs verstappen. Either come with a plan or leave in defeat.
Or live in defeat... Hope they both live if Max decides to take Lewis out of the race. That makes me wonder, how bad missing the first race of the next season would be? Because he’s 100% getting 5 or more for this and he already has 7. Would he even be allowed to have that title or Masi’s got MB and Lewis? What would happen if he is to gain even more penalty points?
@@grafgra4 well in my personal opinion the FIA has displayed some what a weakness at putting the hammer down, across the whole season most penalties have come on the grounds of a racing incident, even when there has been a clear showing of aggressiveness and possibly ill intent as well from the offending party at triggering the incident. Remember the senna vs prost incident, the fia did nothing, the schumacher and villaneuve on the other hand schumacher really did dare at testing the fia's hand and he got caught, but since then across the many seasons and many accidents the outcome has been mostly a question of trial and error and how luck you are at mitigation your wrong doing. It is like working your way around to manipulate the rules in your favor, penalties these days 5 second or license points only brushes off the real problem, it is likely committing all sort of offences that is classed as Misdemeanor, as you guys would call in America( at least i hope your are from the US) and always being penalised at the same equivalency as getting a parking ticket. It is worth the crime because really the penalty rather than punishing, it actually just motivates you to keep recurring the same offence time and time again. Hope i am getting my point across. Stay safe. Be good.
Not really Senna's fault, he is allowed to be inside of Prost and he just turns into him, it is not like he got there with late braking, he was alongside.
uma coisa temos que admitir, sejamos fãs de Senna ou de Prost, esses dois com certeza proporcionaram os melhores momentos da F1 , não tem pra Schumacher, não tem para Hamilton, quem não viu não tem noção do que perdeu
By this time Senna and Prost simply despised each other by that point. Prost was his teammate and got him disqualified the year before when they had the collision, but Senna got his car back on the track by driving around the cones. Prost caused the accident trying to keep him from finishing, then when that didn't work, went and literally used a technicality that no one else would have protested to get him disqualified, so he'd be out of the championship. Prost deserved every bit of this one, and that's why Senna was so completely blatant about it. It was so interesting though to realize that Prost maybe did not like the person, but clearly had unbelievable respect for him as a skilled driver and competitor. It showed when he took over Senna's charitable foundation after his death.
To this day I can't believe that the FIA gave senna the WDC, even after senna admitted he did this on purpose, He should have been excluded from the season...
Are you crazy? Lulu is going to cry, play the victim, make an announcement that he is lucky to live, then complain to the stewards and they will disqualify max for the next 15 years!
Highly doubt it, Adu Dhabi turn 1 is too sharp, the two drivers would be going too slow to make it look like an accident. Max may be highly aggressive (which I do not blame him this year for, he's on the verge of dethroning Hamilton in a less superior car) but he also isn't stupid, and he certainly isn't stupid enough to think he can get away with intentionally ramming Hamilton off the road, Jeddah was an accident that was the FIA's fault
@@jremyy Calling it revenge is a little childish. He was on the inside and hit a sausage curb, which lept his car into the air and onto Hamilton's Merc. Max is highly aggressive, but he's also probably highly stressed right now as you would expect, he's going to make mistakes. Anyone who thinks he's just going to "forget" to turn into the first corner at Yas Marina clearly has something wrong with them because I don't think there's ever been a driver who has gone to a race with the intent to just slam into someone and knock them out. Even Senna wasn't that bold, yes he hit Prost, but that was out of a crazy attempt to go on the inside, not to take him out
How is it legendary ? It's just disgusting, the guy is on pole but gets a bad start and Prost goes ahead, so what does he do ? He crash on purpose into him in order to win the championship, it's absolutely disgusting. Not to mention how dangerous it could have been they were going at really high speed, crashing into Prost on purpose could have easily injured or even killed him. Prost deserved to have 5 championship titles and Senna 2
@@madsharkz8640 because rules back then were iffy. It was a clear intentional wreck, and its pretty disgusting, and some genuine pussy type driving. Just pass him like a normal person, unless you aint good enough kek
@@madsharkz8640 Senna didn't admit it was deliberate until later so people assumed it was a 'racing incident'. Schumacher wasn't stripped of the 1994 title even thought that was pretty blatant given he'd later try it in 1997.
31 years fast forward, 2021 British GP, title contenders Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have a similar incident at Silverstone's Copse. Edit: I'm back after their Monza collision. Another edit: I'm back post-Saudi Arabian GP hoping nothing similar would happen in the Abu Dhabi GP. 3rd edit: Eventually nothing similar happened, but still a hollow feeling.
Yeah but senna locked up the championship with that crash. Im pretty sure if prost won that race he would’ve had a chance of beating senna for the championship. So smart move for senna😂
@@evanjones288 that's even worse lol If the British gp was the deciding race then they woulda hated on Hamilton much much worse. People clamour for the old days except when there fav driver gets taken out or a driver they hate wins
"imagine?" Gotta be honest, I'd be more surprised if it didn't happen at this point. I'm not sure max would *try* to do it like Senna did, but he's just so hyper aggressive
