That guy that said there is no solution to bullying must have been a bully himself.. There is always solution. Putting the solution into action is where problems start to arise

I’m not totally sure but he may be that sick bastard the eugenics guy right wing loser with deranged ideas, if he’s not I’m sorry but by here is a politician like that and he resembles him. If it’s him can’t really take him seriously listening to him is like looking at an insecure little man, basically a bully himself, someone must have held him down in life. Every bully I’ve met was abused by someone else in their life

Indeed and furthermore his reasoning is flat wrong. I was bullied through high school simply because I had good grades and the morons hated that. How does being a victim makes you weak? It is what civilisation itself tries to put us human beyond. This is a sick idea that I thought was put to rest after the end of WW2, This man should be dismissed of any responsibility he holds regarding kids.

That was a real giveaway. Those that are or sympathize with the bullies are *not* the strong ones. They are the weakest of all. I do agree with the bald guy Nobita was sitting with that it can become training, especially if you end up 'disqualified' from 'just a girl' considerations for not performing properly, but there comes a point where you must *fight,* and and that was the start of my raining for that, too. No one seemed so alarmed here in America until I started *winning* fights. Otherwise would blame me for being the target. And bullies got more power over bystanders. And Japan has a big bystanderism problem. They could take a lesson from the 80s.

It's a typical attitude of the older generations in Asia: suck it up, grow a thick skin, persevere, etc. For that matter, a previous generation of Americans and Europeans were like that as well, the people who grew up during the Great Depression and WW2 or earlier. But yeah, not great advice for young people today.

Sorry. No. My daughter was bullied in Japan in school. I gathered evidence and then called out the teachers, the administrators, the kids who did the bullying, AND their parents. I made a big spectacle of it. Shame is a big thing in Japan, and people definitely move to make changes (even if not 100% earnest) when their wrongdoings are put on display for all to see. I WILL NOT tolerate bullying in any form, particularly physical assault. You can't stop people from thinking what they want to think about others, but you can be damn sure you can do something to put a stop to harassment. Keep and eye on your kids. Watch them closely, and get them to speak up.
@mariners6015
@mariners6015 2 месяца назад
I’m glad you stepped up since none of your daughter’s classmates or teachers did. Were you able to reach out to the parents of the bullies and explain to them that their child was making trouble for no reason?
@saishowaguu2
@saishowaguu2 2 месяца назад
@@mariners6015 In my case, I was able to communicate with the parents of 2 of the kids in the school who participated in the bullying. But I was confident the other students and parents (even parents of kids who were not part of the bullying) knew what was going on when I confronted them. However, I know of many other cases of bullying where the parents of the bullies denied the claims (due to lack of evidence or because they didn't want to believe their kid did something wrong), or the parents were indifferent. Look, I'm not naive. There's always going to be a certain amount of teasing happening in schools, and on "some" level, children need to learn that there are bullies and mean people out there (and in Japan, there's still a strong Senpai-Kouhai hierarchy), and you have to confront them/it sooner or later, but not everyone is equipped to deal with it (and not always right away either). We place our kids in the care of these educators. Education is not only about academics, there are basic societal lessons to be taught as well; and if the teachers and parents aren't going to get that job done, you better believe I'm going make sure it gets done. That politician wants to talk about "survival of the fittest"? Well how about "lions that protect their young"?

In my case, the teachers were the bullies. I'm a 帰国子女 so I didn't speak fluent Japanese when I started junior high. Homeroom teacher disliked me because I have strong opinions. 国語 disliked me because I fail her class no matter how hard I try. English teacher disliked me because my English is better than his.
@neonnwave1
@neonnwave1 Месяц назад
My parents did something similar. The worst year of bullying I had, I was sent home after getting into a fight and breaking down in front of everyone after because I couldn't take it anymore. Unfortunately, even though I named everyone, the school had no proof to suspend or expel anyone (this was before security cameras were common place). The dumb bullies then started to harass me while I was at home with prank calls the entire day. My dad told me to not answer the phone and the dumb bullies actually left a message on the answering machine. Their voices were clear as day and my parents used that as evidence to show the principal. Every single bully was suspended and their parents found out. One was supposed to be expelled (the leader) but his parents came to his rescue by threatening the school with lawyers, saying 'you can't expel my kid for teasing someone' (no wonder he turned out to be a psychopath).

You know what you can do though? You need to have a list of generic insults lined up in your head so u can roast them back. For instance as a chubby person…. Its soo obvious that some immature people are going make comments about being fat. You don’t know ahead of time who will say it, could be anybody… that’s why you have to sit down ahead of time and make a list of different things you can say to roast someone with a big head, or a big nose, or something they are not great at, etc. If you hear a good comeback or roast on TV, commit it to memory because u can use it to defend yourself later. I heard a really good comeback on TV and I saved it in my memory and I actually got to use it in real life in junior high school. There was some ‘cool’ kids seated on a bench and a girl tells me to leave, that I wasn’t allowed because there was no bitches allowed “no bitches allowed!”. And I replied, (as I walked past like I didn’t care), and i said, “I guess there’s only room for one of those around here.” Immediately the group erupted into cheers. They thought i was going to be humiliated… instead, they laughed at her soo hard and told her she got owned . She was soo embarrassed. They thought I was so cool after that. A couple years later, in high school, 2 of the boys that cheered for me that day actually defended me against a guy who tried to pick on me for my clothes. They stood up and told him… “ if you have a problem with her, then you have a problem with us” , and the guy backed off and didn’t bother me anymore and I was never bullied again… Until I started work as an adult, but that’s another story 🤦🏻‍♀️. And i dealt with it too eventually, and it was one of the hardest times in my life.

Well "knowing" and assuming are not the same. It depends on the parents and the teachers. Not everyone will ignore, if that was the case there would be no videos and no reports about it. But if parents are ignorant children have "learned" they won't be heard, which is understandable, but isn't necessarily true for all the world outside. In Japan there are institutions and people that do listen.

This politician. 🙄 Yeah, I get it, but we're human beings, more complex-minded than other species, more capable of making differences, saving people & reducing casualties, especially now in 2024. Not saying it's easy, but much easier now. There has to be a way to improve the quality of life for the young generation and teachers. I think it's an overlooked vital part of our society, especially for the future. I don't think folks understand how much one's youth life greatly impacts their life and others down the line. Great minds aren't born; they're made.

I suffered bullying at school and I had no choice but enduring it. And it's true, it's part of what humans do, it can't be removed, but that doesn't mean nothing can be done about it. There are ways to deal with the problem. What I did was to endure it and try to be friendly and ultimately they became my friends. But that was not always the case. Sometimes I found some bullies were very bad people, I just couldn't stand them. Teachers had to intervene and since they weren't merely bullies but also troublemakers, they were taken out of the classrom and they were given their own classroom with separate classes because of how much trouble they caused to everyone else.

The worst bullying I experienced was in Hong Kong. I was in grade 1 at the time, and one of my Chinese classmates bullied me. One day, he even went as far as taking my water bottle from my backpack, loosening its lid, and replacing it upside-down. That night, I came home with my drenched in water, and my parents were livid. I had to "cook" my notebook just to dry it. I also experienced bullying in the Philippines. When I was in grade 2, a bully (who used to be a good friend of mine) stuck gum in the back of my head. I became annoyed at his antics. One day, he and I had an altercation in the school bus. He punched me in the nose, so I punched him in the teeth. I also experienced bullying in Canada. I've been called a "loser," had a fastball thrown at me with harmful intent, and had my speech impediment made fun of.

There's nothing to be done about bullying? There's PLENTY to be done. Too many even. For one, educate your children to be righteous and defend the weak. It's not even hard. It's the classic hero stuff. We've had it for ages. Push for TV shows, manga, anime or even ads to show righteous behavior as the cool thing to do. At the same time, show that picking on the weak is pathetic, evil and uncool. It's not just about bullies and the bullied. The bystanders are important too. If even ONE kid helps the bullied, it will often be enough. Two, and the bullying will be gone. That politician said these kids need to be strong? THEN TEACH THEM TO BE STRONG. How? Plenty of ways! Teach them how to communicate, channel their interest, martial art, etc. Teach your teachers to be better at handling the shy, unathletic or introvert kids. Geez man.

I never was part of a group at high school, never cared much for that. never did team sports, martial arts were my thing. karate, jiu jitsu and boxing. whenever someone tried to bully me I'd let them know they picked the wrong guy to mess with. that happened twice. after that it was over. one of the popular girls even had a soft spot for me and told that to some of the other popular girls. I only heard about that years after though when I went to university. anyway, guess you need to let bullies know your limits and not be afraid to throw down and get hit in the process. but that's easier said than done, I know. besides, that politician saying there's nothing to be done? b*llshit. they can create campaigns to change public opinion. if it's uncool to bully others it's bound to change. conformists will conform to whatever authorities say, for good or for bad.

I will have to disagree with Tachibana. He claims that bullying is done in a way that the adults don't notice(4:39). When Chiaki was bullied, her classmates were comfortable enough to shout insults from the window. This video shows a bully delivering a beatdown on another kid(5:01). It seems like the bullies are not afraid of the adults noticing their actions.

Being attacked by your bullies after reporting them to the teacher or principal is unfortunately accurate. Every time I reported, they kept coming. Partially because the parents of the bullies threatened the principal (or so I believe) but it's also a manner of trying to regain control. It's not really a 'how dare you' thing. Bullies take pleasure in having control over someone - ie: their victim. If the victim fights back in a manner where the bullies can't control, they seek 'revenge' as a means to regain control of the situation. There are three forms of control: Manipulation, subjugation, and destruction. When subjugation doesn't work, they resort to destruction.

dont know exactly how bad the bullying in the Japanese school right now (i think bullying as pictured in anime and movies are greatly exaggerated) but it think learning how to stand up for yourself is an important lesson and experience to become an adult. kids are mostly assholes and it comes to the teacher and parents to pay attention and to discipline them. Shouganaing the problem wouldn't help anybody and its ok to help if the kid is bullied and cant stand up for themselves.

"Go home ugly"??? Those girls must have been jealous, Chiaki, is eye candy. I think Chiaki is astute in assessing that the bullies have problems in the home/family. Anna's comment "we were all hiding our individualities to be perceived normal", is a revelation of the general intolerance of individuals, and the expectation of students being homogeneous automatons (work units for corporations). Masayuki is correct, the schools are an education/indoctrination system, to produce a standard product. Work units. I think this music video, captures it; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qs35t2xFqdU.html Takashi Tashibana, has dangerous beliefs. Instead of championing survival of the strongest, it should be about making everyone as resilient and optimistic, as possible. Not only for the children, it will benefit the whole nation. Fuminobu, "Why do I have to go to school?". Not so long ago, education was a luxury of the rich. Now, it's a legal requirement. However, the curriculum isn't about life skills. Are there classes in welth creation, critical thinking, what about ethics, basic life skills (from cooking to rental agreements. And what to do, when parents become ill or die). School, isn't preparation for life. Bullying as training, is an interesting idea. Giving a child the idea that this is a test, and not a result of weakness, could be empowering. Again, another thought provoking insight into one of the ills of Japanese social conditions. Sadly, bullying continues throughout life. It simply becomes more subtle, though psychologically, equally damaging.

Takashi (the politician) is not incorrect with his belief. Japan as it is now has no solution for bullying, and it never will until Japanese adults time to properly invest time in their children's lives, communicate with them and try to understand what they are going through instead of aiming for karoshi at maximum speed. The west features the same problem where if you ask a large quantity of parents they could not tell you very much about their kids in this day and age. The only way to stop bullying from happening is to have all parents involved in their children's lives and make a better future for the younger generations instead of focusing on themselves, which will never happen. School in general is also terribly flawed and a terribly outdated system that is designed to single people out for their weaknesses instead of focusing on their strengths. I don't know to much about the communication ability of Japanese kids, but of the Japanese people I am friends with and have spoken to IRL in both English and Japanese, unless they are drunk they are fairly reserved, and your kids tend to copy after parents, parents whom rarely express emotion. Even in culture, expressing emotion is considered a negative, so I would not be surprised if children just completely lack understanding of the words, sentence structure and concepts to actually communicate their problems at all.... Compound this with the high expectations of family and society and I would be surprised if you don't end up blaming yourself. I game occasionally with a Japanese lass who refuses to go outside or work and blames herself for everything that has happened in her life and thinks she is not good enough, so if that is how others feel I would not be surprised at all.

Could be said that their "Don't stand out, conform & mind your own business" way of life is a factor on how bullying can easily grow in their community, as both kids and adults ignore it & aren't as willing to cause a scene in order to stand up for the ones bullied. When you add this along with the stress to conform & fit in to the taxing amount of stress from school work & horrible working conditions, it unfortunately makes sense some of them will lash out on those they consider lower or easy targets to them. As unfortunate as that is.

No friends, no one to grow up with, became more & more socially awkward, didn't know how to fight nor even play sports, got pushed/punched/picked up/held/dragged around the floor, took pictures of me, kids from different grades looking for me to either fight or just joke badly to laugh at me. I eventually got tougher and learned self-defense, but I couldn't save myself every time, not if I'm by myself vs a group of 4 usually. Even pushing and punching out of self-defense got me suspended from school. Also, fuск the Zero-Tolerance Policy! What's the point of self-defense if it's gonna get kids defending themselves in trouble with the school!? Anyway, her English is pretty good. Yeah, she slowed down and has to think about what to say, but that doesn't matter bc what matters more is speaking correctly and people understanding what she says. But did that stop discrimination and in extension, bullying? Come to think of it bullying mindset is "Last loser standing". Also ideally, education should be tailored to each individual so that there would at least be understanding of differences. But then, who or what group would love to spend time and effort for that? Its so much easy to mandate people into only one education system then tell the unlucky ones that they are fishes that have no future because they can't climb a tree. The reason might be different in the West, but it would be strongly recommended to homeschool children instead. I'm not sure about other countries, but Japan have this test where if one passes, he/she can be treated as an elementary/high school graduate. Sure, they may lack social skills because of that, but why risk life to learn such skill at a very young age?
