If you have the JR pass, you can just go to the booth next to the entrance gates to pass through without getting any ticket if you're going for unreserved seats. No need to get a ticket for unreserved with the JR pass.

Just want to say thank you so much. I just came back from a two week Japan trip and I was so intimidated by trying to put together a plan to enjoy the different areas. You and your wife made it soooo easy. You demystified what I absolutely could not figure out on my own and I had the best vacation of my life. I got to experience being a tourist with all of the hacks & preferences you shared. Going to Japan has been a bucket list item for years and I couldn't have made it happen without your making it so easy!

I love the shinkansen, its so smooth and relaxing to ride! I came from the northeastern part of the USA so our public transportation is so-so and you have to have a car to get anywhere. I love how in Japan I can bike everywhere local, take the trains and buses farther away, and feel safe doing so alone. I seriously love living in Japan.

I am glad you did this. Before our last trip to Japan in October 2018, I searched for a video on this topic and found some rather poor examples. I was able to make our way to the shikansen from Kyoto to Tokyo last time but knowing more now may help us save some money for our next trip back in February. :)

Heyy, I hope you had fun visiting Japan. I’m planning to go in July I’m just curious how was your trip? And I’ve got one more question I’m also planning to go to Osaka from Tokyo how was the train experience also got big luggage with me 😅 I believe there is some companies that do provide to handle your luggage and deliver it to your hotel, I don’t know how much will cost tho Thanks❤
@untamedheart6820
@untamedheart6820 Год назад
@@therealbukharieven the hotels handle forwarding your luggage to your next hotel, you may want to inquire on that too…& yes, there’s lots of services here that you can either store your larger luggage (3 days) or coin lockers (smaller luggage). We are here in Osaka right now & prior to coming here I store 2 luggages for 3 days & for 6,000 yen. We’re going back to Tokyo to catch our flight to the Philippines that’s why I decided to store our excess luggage…😊

Love the video, I’m coming to Japan this July and would really like to know a bit more about the alternatives to the Japan rail pass as they don’t have a 10 day option. thanks

LUGGAGE TIP: When you want to put your luggage at the ends of the car, I've seen locals extending the luggage handles and slipping it through a railing in the wall to stop them from rolling around. That way you can store them upright and have more space for other luggages.

Definitely book those tickets in advance if you can! Once my JR pass expired (21 days), I had to stand in long lines to buy shinkansen tickets
