I bet most Americans would save so much money without having to deal with car payments, insurance, gas + maintenance. Not to mention the health benefits of walking so much.
Just an FYI - Nozomi and Hikari trains are generally not different. They use the same train class (N700). Just think of the Nozomi as a Limited Express (fewer stops than Hikari) over regular trains on three citywide train system.
Such a cool channel. I was so close to visiting Japan one point myself. I had experience with modeling and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity to visit Asia...🙁
@@Omni0404 Hi, I actually like Leon from the original RE4. They gave him that Jason Bourne-like quality. Still a normal guy, but with a lot of cool skills.
@Omni0404 that could be anyone look at his channel So you're telling me this guy's entire claim to fame is this and thats why he posts about it everywhere Like come on lol move on and also it could just be a neet/incel pretending to be someone there not lol
When I booked my return trip from Osaka back to Tokyo, I somehow managed to buy our tickets at the kiosk without the base fare. Good thing we went to the gate early, and got redirected to the agent to add the base fare, else we would've missed our train.
I know the oversized baggage rules for shinkansen. I know my bag is under that. I know the luggage racks are large enough. Problem is, *I* cannot lift something that heavy. Yes, I can and would potentially sacrifice legroom but say the person in front of me is reclined
Excellent summary Alex and Matilda, I think now I'd like to try the green car , I didn't know you get more space 😮 as for the speeds they must vary between trains ? Can I see better if I take the non Nozomi ? Sort of like what they call a scenic route, I haven't been on Shinkansen much , a few times
From what I've read, Nozomi is the fastest, Hikari comes second and Kodama is the slowest (has the most stops on the way). Not sure if you get more time to see other things than train stations though.
Actually, all Shinkansen riding on the golden triangle route (Tokaido Shinkansen) have already ended all onboard sales, with the exception of Green Car passengers riding on the Nozomi or Hikari, which can use the mobile order service to buy F&B on-demand. Just another perk for getting Green Car tickets I guess.
i think would be good to mention the process on getting the actual ticket which is different than the reserve, and that u have to pay an extra fee for getting the real ticket.
Thank you so much for the info and effort you put into this video. I’m visiting Japan this Monday I will stay in Shibuya 4 days then going somewhere else for 2 days. If you don’t mind giving me an advice if I should visit Osaka or Kyoto? Thank you 🙏🏼 ❤
Quick question, do you know what are the rules and procedures when carrying a bicycle? (Are bicycles considered under same category as oversized luggage?)
great video :) thank you. I was in Japan last year on business trip where our host from Japan have bought tickets for us. Every time he booked Green Car for us but without luggage reservation. We had oversized luggage with us in the space between seats. Cars were pretty empty so I guess it was not needed to reserve dedicated seats. Now, I'm travelling with the family and we will take a train to Kyoto (Nozomi). Do I need to reserve oversized seats for green cars?
Thanks for the video! From Osaka to Tokyo where is the best seat to view Mt Fuji, D and E too? Can we buy Shinkansen tickets online or through an iOS app?
thanks brother i needed this info question how do u know when to get off does it say arriving to osaka in 3 minutes just to know when my stop is coming up thsnks
Do I have to pick up Shinkasen tickets booked in advance on ekinet at the Station Ticket Office to go to Sendai from Tokyo. If so , can I get them at Shinjuku Station where I will be starting from? Thank you.
You'd have to buy a new ticket at the station in that case, so you should buy whichever ticket you want one month in advance from jr west, jr east, smart ex or klook. The disadvantage with an unreserved seat ticket is that you're not guaranteed a seat, which could be a problem at very busy times. This shouldn't really be a problem if you line up 30 minutes early but the advantage is that you can just take the next train, something that you can't do with a reserved seat ticket.
@@MyHugoboss12 Honestly I don’t know because I’m flying back to Tokyo from Osaka for the first time. Usually I take the Shinkansen. To make a long story short, I will also have a 14-day JR pass but the last valid day will be at Osaka. But look into Chureito Pagoda for a stunning view of Mount Fuji. Have fun planning!
