As an artist I have to say, nothing better than brushes with natural hair. They are not cheap but definitely worth the investment. If you take good care of them they will last much longer than the synthetics. My oldest natural hair artist brush is 32 years old! ☺️ Good to see you Michele! 💖

I totally agree. I've always had a large amount of synthetic brushes, but always gravitated towards one my mom gave me from Lancome. It is a natural bristle eye brush and 25 years old. I've had it for 5 years and it hasn't changed at all. After throwing away expensive synthetics that were only a year or two old, misshapen and frayed, I realized it was worth it to invest in natural hair brushes. I also find them a pleasure to use and they perform so, so good.

Very true. I purchased Trish McEvoy brushes 23 years ago; this was before she changed the handles from wood to lucite, made them shorter and began replacing her natural hair with synthetic. HUGE differance between those and the few I've purchased since.

I’m just so scared they hurt the animals they get the hair from. Not brave enough to look at videos to see how they are brushed, shaved and kept. Helena ♥️

@@potato2423 I get it, but I did look up Silver Fox and found out in some areas they have been domesticated and kept as pets, so it's possible they are treated well and brushed. Goats are also very domesticated. However, I do realize it depends on the owners. Wayne Goss' brushes are cruelty free and he has blue squirrel hairs.

I cant wait to go back to Japan. Okonomiyaki is also my favorite dish too. Japan is really great at taking foreign products and remaking it even better with a twist! I used to live there in my twenties. Japan makes me feel so nostalgic.

I’d use the Shaquda cleansing brush for the Tatcha rice powder, it foams it up nicely 👍The brush outlet sounds like a dream, you did well with your haul ma’am. I had to chuckle when you mentioned the whole can’t use the makeup you bought thing cause man that is an exercise of delayed gratification. I would hold them and sigh at the beauty that is inside and curse that duty free seal 😂

Hi Michele, i always love your videos. I'm Japanese and live in Okayama that is neighboring town from Hiroshima. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Brush festival. I wish I knew if you were coming to Brush festival, so I might have been able to give you more information, like where you can buy brushes..... I mean Chikuhodo and Hakuhodo are beautiful and big-name brand in Japan, but there are some non-famous craftsman brands which make amazing brushes. Hope there will be a next time for you to visit. Michele! I was so glad to have met you at the brush festival! I love how these kinds of things bring people together! I did a "make your own brush" experience at the main office of Koyudo a few days before Fude Matsuri. Maybe you'd like to do that too some time. They also had an outlet and I had to control myself. As I told you , I went to the Mizuho main office to "see" the Shaquda brushes and I'm kicking myself at the moment for not purchasing them. hahahah well, they are kinda pricey. I think it's wonderful that you got to go to Japan, and during the brush festival to boot! I love the wide selection you chose; I know you will really enjoy having and using them. I was raised as an Air Force Brat, and lived for a great deal of my childhood in Okinawa. My dream is to go back and spend at least a month traveling throughout Japan! I have such nostalgia, that I wouldn't mind living there(somewhere) for the rest of my life! 💖

i am going to tokyo next summer for the olympics. Going with friends and we are going to kyoto first then day trip to hiroshima then back to tokyo. Will look for the chikuhodo outlet while I am there!

They just opened a US Amazon shop. Announced it on their website and links directly to their shop. Has the whole collection at current prices relative to their website. Best of all, no shipping fees and quick shipping because they are shipping through Amazon

They carry Shaquda brushes at my hair salon here in Toronto. I’ve been eyeing them for the past couple of months. I may need to pick a few up at my next visit.

@@Melody-285 they were quite expensive. If I recall, they ranged from about CAD$50-150 depending on the brush. They also had a set available.
