It's not Japanese exclusive; Godiva is all around expensive. There used to be one in the nearest big city shopping mall. It was so expensive barely anyone went in. There were a few, and I'm sure the desserts and stuff when you sat in were nice, but £37 for 20 chocolates in a box is a bit much for many people's budgets (nearly £2 per truffle 🙈)!
It's cheap because it's mostly rice, eggs, shredded cabbage etc. And because the Japanese fed never stopped money printing and is slowly devaluing Japanese buying power into nothing.
As someone that works with chocolate, there’s a good reason why mint isn’t something you want in a box of chocolates! Unless they’re already all mint-flavored, all the chocolates are going to taste like mint after a while. Mint just loves to flavor other things as mint!
we have to remember that while that's how much it would cost in USD if you were to visit, Japan wages and costs of living will change the affordability.
Tbh, buying an officially licensed themed mug alone can run over $30 in the US, not even including importing and shipping costs. This seemed like a steal
maybe it’s just my perspective living somewhere where things are relatively expensive but I was surprised at the price when I converted the yen to dollars😭😭for novelty items and fancy chocolate like that I expected it to be way more
Only $33?! As someone who is obsessed with fine pastry and chocolates, that is an extremely good price. I was expecting it to be much more. Also why does Japan get all the good stuff?! 😭 Godiva closed across the US

Wasn't Lady Godiva French? Either way it's a crazy story to base a chocolate company's mascot on. I wonder if Godiva ever created a theme park if there'd be a nude blonde riding a horse down the main thruway all the time...
@@Beairstoboy She was an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman. And I suppose their choice of name and mascot is supposed to indicate a more mature, grown-up brand. (Though it woukd be interesting to see how they'd incorporate the "Peeping Tom" part of the legend. Would all the other workers at the park just freeze in place?).
The chocolatier is Turkish owned and Belgium based. not that odd tbh - if any brand gets big enough it gets kind of separated from its origins and just becomes the name, at least for me! when I see Godiva Chocolate I don't really think of Lady Godiva, same as when I see the Ajax cleaner I don't really think about the legendary hero Ajax 😅
Godiva’s prices are just HIGH You have to really like chocolate for it to be worth it, one time me and my sisters went to their cafe and ordered an item each.. We sampled from one another’s items bc each one was so damn expensive

Fun fact Godiva maybe a EU brand but it haves the most shops in Asia specifically in JP. Reason is because Asia values chocolate as a luxury making it the perfect gift. Compare to US chocolate is just a snack for anyone lol its unfortunate after i left the company Godiva, during the pandemic many many closed the shop unfortunately. The amount you spent actually is worth it compared the price US wouldve labeled it lol

I ordered kitsune to lemon chocolate from japan for the same price & I love it. I thought it was pretty cheap considering that I've been wanting to try a certain box of chocolate for years but it's like $100
I came SO EXCITED to see this short, cuz i thought by the preview that it was going to be a stamp and journaling materials set of animal crossing, but no, it was only chocolates. Somehow, tho, i'm still, not dissapointed.
New Horizons released during pandemia, so people were stuck at home having nothing to do but play AC. And because they played that much now they say NH has zero content. I played AC New Leaf and it became boring after a while, because all I had to do is farm money for projects. That's it.
