I didn't know yoru ni kakeru was their first song. Had a banger straight out the gate and has it really been almost 5 years since it was released? damn
They worked very hard to make Yoasobi a success. Things didn't magically work out for them. Just because an artist debut song is good it doesn't mean they didn't spend hundreds of hours to get good. It was their first song as Yoasobi but not as musicians.
@@EvaFuji yes especially when they both already making name by themselves. not discrediting them, but they are great duo, but not great newcomer. same case with Creepy Nuts, both are talented artists, but before duoing, they were racking prestige here and there before.
@@seallovers9038 you're the one taking the match made in heaven in the wrong way dude, the op don't refer them being a match made in heaven because of romantic or shipping reasons but rather how well they work as a duo that they bring out each other's musical strenght.
Hatsune Miku is just a vocaloid software. Whenever it says "(feat. Hatsune Miku)" that simply means that they used the software. There is no Hatsune Miku artist, it's just the voice, so it doesn't really mean anything. For instance, Ashnikko has a song "with" Hatsune Miku.
Indeed. Rin and Len Kagamine, Megurine Luka, Kaito, Meiko, etc are also Vocaloid softwares. And Vocaloid softwares themselves are parts of the virtual singer software, since there's non-Vocaloid virtual singer softwares such as Kasane Teto and more
its not about creating art with Hatsune Miku, but they are using Hatsune Miku fame as their catalyst. Featuring doesnt mean the one featured have to create, you can use someone famous name and call it featuring too though. its not as simple as "its just a software, so it doesnt mean anything" of course it means something, in this case, some big thing -.- Miku in japan is not something trivial, its a huge sub culture there
@@rainscents Yes I know, but I think in the video he made it seem like it was a big deal Ayase was able to collaborate with Hatsune Miku. I meant to say that it wasn't because anyone can do that pretty much.
I remember listening to Yoru ni Kakeru before they blew up worldwide in 2023, and I already had a good feeling they would become this popular. Honestly, they totally deserve it and I am so happy even shedding tears that they have made it so far.
Japanese duo musical duo is always somethin else, from ali project, do as infinity, to creepy nuts, yorushika and yoasobi, its simply magical also vocaloid influence to japanese music industry is massive, its like the space invaders boom which inspired a generation of japanese game creators growing up decades ago
The electronica proficient composer combined with a striking female vocalist through-line to Yoasobi is pretty strong. TWO-MIX, angela, GARNiDELiA, to Yoasobi is like watching evolution of the structure.
i discovered ayase through his miku songs back in 2019, listened to Yoru ni Kakeru on repeat when it first released, came back to it later to see it topping charts. so cool to see the progression of artists
Yeah, Ghost City Tokyo and Last Resort are pretty good. Also other modern mainstream Japanese music artists, like Kenshi Yonezu, Tatsuya Kiritani, and more, get their starts by being producers who make songs with virtual singers, particularly Vocaloid
Its him, he did everything, lyrics, composition and vocal, heres a few of his other sung songs 幽霊東京 (Ghost city Tokyo), 夜撫でるメノウ (Agate Caressing the Night), 飽和 , シネマ (these are all on spotify too)
I was shocked when I heard it the first time. Especially after you know the lyrics and compare ot with the anime’s storyline. Now I can’t stop replaying it lol
You probably forgot to mention this in your video but Yoasobi also did a collab with *Gundam* which is definitely the bigger overall IP than Beastars & Frieren. Btw Gundam IP was the first anime franchise that sold "anime OST" back in the year 1979-1980 IIRC & kickstarted the "anime song" industry. Ever since that, Gundam has been collabing with some of the greatest artists out there (even from outside Japan). Some artists' careers were even propelled by their collabs with Gundam like Hiroyuki Sawano, Aimer, Nami Tamaki & TM Revolution. And Yoasobi also did spectacularly with their OP for *Gundam - The Witch from Mercury* even though not as bombastic in popularity as Oshi no Ko or Frieren.
These two are are absolute gold. YOASOBI's music is just so incredibly energetic and heartfelt that everyone can feel connected to it as soon as it starts. AYASE is also such a great producer and knows exactly how to utilize Ikura's voice
I attended yoasobi's first solo show in LA a few days ago and it was such an experience to see them live. I listened to their debut song a few months after it was released and I had no idea it was going to be the biggest japanese song ever. I've mostly seen artists get recognition for their music through anime's but within the last few years japanese artists are getting western streams without it. Yoasobi, Ado, Yorushika, and Vaundy are the main artists I can name that gained popularity overseas without having done work for an anime prior.
I disagree a bit with the Ado part. Her wide international recognition came when she sing for One Piece Red film. Previously she is quite famous in Japan and have a small niece international fans.
@@JS-oi5jt vaundy was popular way before he made the CSM song. The point I was making is those artists got extremely popular overseas wiith songs that weren't made for anime
i legit crying watching this. YOASOBI accompanied me through my most difficult years. being for them since the beginning and watching them grow this big truly send shivers to me
It seems like most of my favorite artists have started to go live fairly recently. YOASOBI have started going international for a bit already, Ado just started her first world tour and yama recently done her first asia tour as well (which I was able to attend to!). With the recent international tours that have happened, I wish HIGE DAN and Tatsuya Kitani would start with theirs too..!
My first Yoasobi song was kaibutsu i got instantly hooked to japanese music even though i didnt understand the lyrics haha i love the energy and sound of Yoasobi so much
I went to Yoasobi’s live in Shrine Expo near USC, Los Angeles this past Thursday 4/18, and my god was it a mesmerizing experience. Every single song they performed was just like knocking on my soul and the crowd energy made it absolutely insane. Hope they continue to do tours around the world!
Idol was a hit, because Yoasobi managed to capture our attention as how Akasaka Sensei (the mangaka) imagined how Ai Hoshino captured the audience's attention. Showcasing ultimate eye and eargasm while hiding a melancholic story in the song.
I like listening to japanese music, listening to a lot of random stuff, whatever Spotify recommends and not really mainstream stuff but I'm always surprised being reminded just how BIG yoasobi is. My fav of theirs is probably the opening for Gundam tho lol. Great video btw!!
Mihimaru GT was never as good as YOASOBI and it’s because Ayase is a way better melodic song writer. There actually bunches of female singer duos in J-pop that are good, but just haven’t blown up like YOASOBI.
nice video! yoasobi is a band i'd really really love to hear live. i'm glad your channel's doing good, i consume these videos about music with a burning passion
For me Yaosobi has lots of great individual songs (basically each song) but the songs in each album express so many different feelings that I find it hard to listen to an album without going through too many different emotions one after another. (For instance with Linkin Park - Meteora the album feels more consistent then any of the Book albums)
Thank you for this videl. Imho Japan has an golden age with their music bands and Yoaobi is a realy bright star of it. Love the music, the voice, the band, the lightshows just everything. Also their music and performances have always such a positiv Vibe . ❤
japan is not obsessed with yoasobi. they have the strongest label backing them. this is the equivalent of a japanese person making a video of "the wests obsession with ice spice". the power of advertising wins in the end
Ayase is well on his way to achieving Yasutaka Nakata level notoriety (kyary pamyu pamyu's producer), and honestly probably surpassing it; dude is cracked out of his fucking mind and while Ikura's voice isn't the most forceful, it's strong as hell, evidenced by how she performed near-perfectly in front of the yokohama gundam **in the cold** add in that their band is 100% rock solid and you have such a ridiculous combination i've been head to toe immersed in the ins and outs of japanese music for well over a decade, and the dynamics of "fresh/creative/weird priority" have never stopped benefiting the region's output
Actually they had a couple of albums out before the anime openings of Frieren and O shi no ko. Also some movie songs as well. They are really good and they have a lot of songs out.
I don't know if you know but the website they get their songs from is operated by Sony. They are talented for sure, but a huge part of their success is because of Sony's backing.
I remember finding their first song before it was a trending song and I was like YAH ON MY PLAYLIST NOW. AND THEY HAVE NOW TOPPED TAYLOR SWIFT (i love Taylor too) ON BILLBOARDS ONCE WITHIN A COUPLE YEARS, JUST AMAZING!! Happy for them :)
I knew them because of Alter Garden in 2021 for Caligula Effect 2 being by Ayase and I didn’t think they would become extra popular at all but they did so like that’s great
I thought Idol was "okay" , in comparison to their other songs especially when you compared it their other songs especially my favorite song of all time Yoru ni kakeru
I always like a singer when I find her/his voice kinda unique but not with Ikura. 1st time I heard her voice I feel very calm and mesmerized. Straight up in my mind the only thing I could come is her voice is so beautiful, feel very metallic but soft at the same time and before I knew it I listen to their 2 album straight without a skip. Ayase did a brilliant job managing Ikura voice thru his song and also Ayase vast understanding about music what make this band on top.
I really not that much into yoasobi, but people in japan know this night trio (Yoasobi, Yorushika and Zutomayo) and Yorushika and Zutomayo are really is my type, idk whats up with yoasobi for me.
I’d love for videos like this to do more call-outs to other J-pop groups. YOASOBI is amazing, but J-pop has a long tradition of great female singer/male composer duos from Angela, Love Psychadelico, and Do As Infinity to the more recent Yorushika, FantasticYouth, and GARNiDELiA. There are also bunches of vocaloid producers who have transitioned to main-stream J-pop success. The world is sleeping on J-pop which while not as flashy and highly produced as K-pop is far more diverse and high quality musically.
