Thanks for dropping this vid. Just in case I decide I absolutely have to visit during holidays, I'll probably just be seeking out the long bike routes anyway. I love to ride!
In Osaka, Nakanoshima Museum of Art and History Museum will not be crowded ... in Kyoto, Shimogamo Shrine and Kanji Museum will be the same way. The Kyoto Railway Museum is fun and not too crowded but the children always take over the hands-on displays.
Enjoying our 7 week trip around Japan, planning a 9 day self drive around Kyushu over golden week and hoping we can get away from the crowds by NOT going anywhere near capital cities… so far driving around as opposed to taking a train which has been really good… have seen so many amazing places south of Nara this last few days. Have enjoyed your videos and some have been very helpful. Dave, Australia.
ooh a 9 day self drive around Kyushu over golden week sounds so nice.. just be aware that in more rural areas some things might close :) but still totally awesome! Shikoku would be even quieter I think!
🍜! your videos are always helpful! I watched your videos before travelling to japan last October - super helpful! Heading back in 2026 to do more of "off the beaten track" travel outside th emain cities !
I would still be hesitant to go during golden week, but you make a good argument about longer hours. Although for me, I can’t stay up late unless I’ve been in Japan at least a week anyway. Business rush hour traffic on non-holiday weekdays is unpleasant too.
4:45 Be patient and flexible. I found it useful when looking up train routes to make sure it’s a line with frequent trains and that I’m not waiting on (or barely missing) a once-per-half-hour express or commuter train. Most metros arrive every 5 to 7 minutes at busy times, so these are usually better options, especially when it’s not the first leg of the trip.
Now I wonder ... do you have to go back to Japan this year? (^_^) ... My relatives want to go to Fukushima Prefecture Aizu-Wakamatsu but I think the people there are somewhat weird ...
@@OnlyOneNights no,... is there a website I can visit? ... normally I really don't like Kyoto and Kyoto people ... though, if you go there, I always love Doshisha Cemetery,... the graves of Joseph Hardy Neeshima and his wife Yae are there ...
I stayed in Saitama one night during cherry blossom season, and it was very nice and affordable. The only bad part was the commuter train to get there, but during a holiday it may not be as bad.
@@jessesnyder5105 hmmm,... in Golden Week, generally, tourist places fill up,... Obon is for visiting family,... New Year is just endless cleaning, sending cards and stuffing money envelopes for the children.
Well, I have to extent my stay to April 4th due to airline reasons. But I haven´t sceduled anything for my time in Japan anyway, so I just keep watching all the people buzzing around or leave the town I may be at that time to visit a place somewhere else. Anyway, arrival is this Tuesday and I´m exited to see what will happen
@@NinjaMonkeyguy To keep it short: Hotels might get expensive, so look for cheaper ones or pay the price if you want to stay in a specific hotel. I got a good offer for the first weekend in Hachioji, but had to pay a little bit more than planned around the second one because I wanted to stay near the bus terminal in Hiroshima for my flight back home. The Shinkansen got more crowded, espcially around the Saturday before the 29th, so book your seat in advance. I didn´t, so I had to cancel my plan and reserve a seat on the Komachi for Sunday. No problem there if you don´t really have a strict plan you have to follow and so I went sightseeing in Tokyo instead. Got another good offer for an APA Hotel in Osaka for the first have of the Golden Week, less than 13.000 Yen for two nights and from there it was back to Hiroshima. All in all I don´t see why you shouldn´t visit Japan during Golden Week, you might miss some nice festivals and events. Yes, the trains get crowded Yes, some sights are closed Yes, some hotels get more expensice But I had a good time being there
Good job making the Spanish language channel. Sometimes I heard more Spanish than English. I felt like I was back in California at times. Next time I’ll practice Japanese and Spanish to prepare for my trip.
@@theknightswhosay Many people say Japan was a " closed country " during Edo time but this isn't really true ... Dutch were still allowed to trade and Japan learned science and medicine through them. Now, of course, foreigners are everywhere ...
I am planning to go in November for 2 weeks, I will be visiting the main cities, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. The question is, is the question when the best week's to choose? First two weeks or last or middle?
I have to catch a domestic flight from Aomori Airport to Tokyo Haneda to catch my flight back to the USA on April 30th. I hope the holidays don't get me stuck in Japan. 😮
@NINJAMONKEYGUY, My trip to Japan, successfully completed, I'm back home and back to work to pay for my next trip... to Japan, LOL, really. I would like to thank YOU very much for all the incredibly useful information and the answers during the Q&A and other videos. You are THE BOSS. It all went smoothly thanks to the information provided by you, I visited amazing places thanks to your advice. Japan, I fell in love, with the country, but especially with the people. I was very nervous and anxious before my trip, especially for the language barrier, it was all nonsense. If no English, google translate, but the Japanese, are always willing and always very kind and welcoming if you approach with the right attitude. Snow in Takayama, not a cloud on Fuji san, amazing tours in Tokyo and Kyoto, great weather for the F1 race in Suzuka and to make it even better Sakura in Tokyo on the last day. Only thing missing was yelling NINJAMONKEY!!! but it all went excellent in great part thanks to your guidance, information and advice. THANK YOU!!! (anyone new to this channel, listen carefully and make your trip to Japan much more enjoyable by paying attention to NINJAMONKEY)
Awww thanks so much, this makes me so happy and makes it worth putting all that work into videos! .. Looks like you are already planning your next trip so there will certainly be another chance to yell "NinjaMonkey'! hehe :) you caught the Japan bug, you really are a team member now!
Is it true that there is very very long queue for Disneyland these days? I saw a video posted recently with massive queue for Disneyland. Not sure if it is taken on holiday period or normal days
Quick answer,... yes. You can reserve a time to be on the ride ... school begins in April so I think if you go during weekdays, it will probably be less crowded (except for all the foreign tourists) ... I guess if this is important to you, maybe go on a rainy weekday in June.
I've heard that it was pretty hot in japan during October/November last year. Is this every year the case or was it a one time thing? Having around 20-25 degrees Celsius during that time of the year would be a pretty good reason for me to visit. Last year I went during summer and it was waaay to hot. I usally really enjoy hot weather but Jesus last summer in Japan was definitely to much
hmmm,... last Summer was especially hot. With climate change, it seems to get worse every year. I guess I would recommend going to Matsumoto Kiyoshi drug store and buying an ice necklace. Also what I do is always carry a fan, umbrella and tenugui.
@@aleksandarnjegric6873 If you don't want to spend about 円4,000 for an ice necklace, there are special neck fabrics you can use which work almost as well.
To me, the New Year time period is extremely busy with cleaning and family chores. However, there are traditional performances of Beethoven's 9th Symphony,... I think performances at Suntory Hall in Akasaka are the ultimate best.
