I had no idea they were so materialistic, consuming 25% of the world's luxury market. That is insane. Also, if the Japanese are so discerning and have an eye for superior craftsmanship, how come there are no world-renowned Japanese luxury brands?
I noticed comments here judging how others spend their money. What do you care what someone buys! Because your judgmental, noses ass and jeleousy eats at you. Also to the idiot who comments on how the money can help others. First- those with $$$ contribute far more $ to charities/the needy/the sick/etc. than those who have less. The rich create foundations and raise money for the poor/research for illness and OMG purchase luxury goods too!
I think real luxury is when you have a bag or piece of clothing made according your instructions. you can choose a style, details, fabric. that is luxury, I hope people will understand that. you have a unique piece in the world:). and that is your taste. because everything goes nowerdays you can also not be out of taste or fashion. because your own design is the style:). and that also leads to lessened consumption, because it takes time and money to think and made that uique piece. less I more:)
TheTripstraps the only problem with that that there is no more artisans that truly know how to work with leather, fabrics, etc. Everything is mass produced and not much is handmade. Also, those that are talented ask too much money for what they offer. It’s difficult to take the route that you’re proposing, but I can’t agree more that it would be lovely to have exclusive handmade products tailored exactly to our needs. That’s why I love shopping vintage because it’s a better quality, unique product and it’s a way to recycle products that are already produced.
Interesting documentary. Only was hoping it would answer this question: How do luxury brands justify their prices when their merchandise is mass produced and by workers making a meagre wage?
Wondered why most of these luxury products focused are European. I thought this video was going to be about native luxury brands from Japan like Mikimoto, Comme des Garcons, and Lexus.
First of all , you would need the right body type to pull off these style of clothing and the style is self looks dated and un casual at most places unless you live in a filthy rich city area
diamonds luxury often means out of reach for most people not necessarly high quality or high craftmanship. On that level à Lévis pair of jeans can often be more luxury than expensive crap which wont stand test of times.
