It's also important to highlight that STSS cases are not common in the big cities, it thrives in rural areas with lakes and is not easily spread from one person to another. And the rise of cases can be linked to the rise of 1. The highest amount of travellers ever 2. Post-covid people are being less wary of hygiene 3. Most cases are seen with japanese people, not tourists

apologies need to clarify my 'tap in/tap out' comment. In my situation, I used my suica card to tap into a JR station, then proceeded to use a JR hokuriku arch pass for the rest of my trip. I was able to tap out using the arch pass because it's unlimited but when I when to use the suica card (separate trip), it said we were 'in transit' and wouldn't let me into gate. Station attendant took care of it. Again, user error but I'm certain this happens often.

Nice video, as always! Random thoughts: ripping off tourist is never a good idea... I mean: locals should pay less for certain things (especially landmarks and some attractions, because their taxes are already used to maintan them) and also for eating out because the yen is weak and they are potential loyal and returning customers.... surely more than the occasional gaijin... BUT this should not translate into a complete rip-off...😅 Kegon Falls should "heal" themselves soon, right??? My conclusion is that Japan and Japanese People should really reflect and organize a little bit more if it is true (and it seems so) that the Government is expecting to have 60 MILLION of tourists yearly by 2030.... they are VERY capable of organize themselves... they have shown it... so they will eventually find a way to accomodate, regulate and make tourists pay "the right price" without exaggerating or ripping-off or similar... I hope...😅
@NinjaMonkeyguy

@axios101
@axios101 29 дней назад
@@NinjaMonkeyguy Of course! I was just thinking that a little bit more from tourists is expected (because, given the yen situation and infation, they cannot lower the fees from locals... so the only option is to make tourists pay a little bit more... provided they try to adjust a little bit the services and DO NOT rip off them!!). P.S. do You know if the onsen tax could be "enforced" even if the clients' rooms do not use thermal water or onsen facilities?

I mentioned the dual price to a expat in Osaka i know, and he really didnt think it was going to get to bad, but we're seeing more and more of it. I do get that certain countries does have a huge benefit due to the weak yen, problem is all the countries that doesnt reap that benefit because their currency isn't strong. I will certainly avoid all places i see that make no attempt on hiding there is different prices for locals and tourists. Chris brought up there are allready many spots practicing point cards / award programs, meaning for the locals it is cheaper anyways since most tourist wont get the benefits and that would be a better way of solving this issue compared to crazy inflate prices for tourist. They allready have a bad rep for beeing xenophobes and this isnt helping that. @@user-gx4wd6sv8f When landing, immigration will ask you in what hotel you’ll be staying, so at least have 1 hotel booked before arriving. I only mentioned 1 hotel but I stayed in three different cities during my trip. No issues. Use your good judgment.
