Nicka's attitude was golden all throughout the battle. She looked like she was having the time of her life and she even celebrated her opponent's win. Kudos to her.
She proved she is a true athlete. Even thou she lost the match, she is still 2e, which is not something to be sad/scoffed about. Its still a great achievement! Respect to both, they did great!
how would information travel through dimensions? cant the aliens be in the same 4 ( as of now) as we are? that would make things much easier. the thing is: if these aliens that are watching are on the nearest star to the sun they would have just seen the tokio olympics ( and i even dunno if breakdance was olympic back then =b)
Damn, so many Nicka supporters here, no one talks about Ami. I think people enjoy power moves more, but watching Ami here is like watching water flowing; her moves are just soooo smooth. She didn't do many power moves so it doesn't look as impressive, but in round 1 and 3, there are points where she was completely with the music. It just shows that she's not just doing her set. It was a close match 🎉🎉🎉
Exactly what I was thinking too. Nicka is obviously super talented and impressive to watch but even I, who doesn't know much about breaking managed to spot one mistake from her in the first round. Ami was really mesmerizing to watch, I cannot imagine how much work you have to put into for dancing so precise while also going with the flow of the songs.
Both of them are just amazing Break Dancers ! But B Girl Nika had som incredible moves I have not seen from anyone else in the tournament... I dig her vibe !
@@arunask.9646 well by nature of this format sometimes the scoreline doesn't represent how close a battle was. just look at the actual number of votes, it was insanely close
Final freeze pose. This is important in breakdance. To end dance, she should stop a while in the uncomfortable pose for few seconds. She did not have control on it. I amaze that she went to final as she lacked this factor. She even recognized it.
It is something that happens on competitions out of the olympics too, very often the more technicle breakdancer loses because of the other factors. First of all, it is breakdancing and by dancing it means you need to follow the rythm. Nicka didn't managed to do that good freezes and she was missing the rythm a lot compared to Ami. However, she is only 17 and I can't wait to see the next world championship, because the b-girls started to rock really hard core in the last 10 years.

Breaking is usually decided on orginality, musicality, control, power, stamina and technique. Nicka had alot of good moves but she didn't control it perfectly and even crashed a few times while being clearly gassed out at the end. Ami on the other hand pretty much did everything perfectly all the way through. I personally like Ami's get-downs way more as well while also thinking that she uses the space in her top-rock better as well. She was just cleaner and stronger
I loved them both, but Ami won it. Nicka did spectacle that I loved to watch every second of. Ami on other hand followed the music better, did better freezes and finishing moves, seems like she took in mind the scoring system for her performance.
As an observer, how the f do you even score this? "she twisted 2 more seconds then the other"? "She touched her foot when she did a tripple something something"?
She showed harder techniques, that is true, but how did you came up with the thing that Nicka was more in sync with the music, I can't get where this came from...
At least this is a sport that anyone can participate compared to this rich countries sports such as cycling, sailing, horse riding etc. So stop the hate.
Or golf. Why is golf in the olympics? Yes, it's about technique, but so is pottery and s3x, and at least those two also require creativity and stamina. Other than good technique you only need lots of money and free time to get good at golf. How is that an Olympic competition?
Nicka is so natural and when she is performing it flows and it looks like she is really enjoying what she is doing and she also has that ‘break dance’ spirit, also watching her dancing is so enternaiting that I think what break dance is about, she also builds connection with the crowd, she is the winner in my eyes
what do you mean ? I found her dance moves , warming up to the break dance moves were awkward and not flowing like she didnt know what to do . Its like seeing me being forced to dance and let me tell you i dont dance
@@gitnjur I made no comment or references to be presumed anything racial biased, your comment is disgraceful to people who actually are experiencing racism and there is really no need for this
Loved both of them, but I’ll have to disagree with my fellow commenters here, liked Ami’s performance better! To me it really felt like she was feeling the song, had seamless moves, feathery even, was creative… props to Nicka, but I think Ami deserved the gold medal here.
Yeah, I feel she was more in sync with the music, and while her moves where a little less big and flashy they felt more intricate and technical. So a deserved win in my books.
Nicka 🇱🇹 got robbed. Japanese judge gave all 3 points to AMI (obviously). How about next time NOT LETTING A JUDGE VOTE WHEN THEIR FRIEND IS COMPETING FOR THE GOLD???

Far from that. She repeated a lot of things and her sets weren‘t clean. Ami on the other hand danced to the music, was extremely clean as always and made the more difficult power moves

@@hasse_ss Yes, but she's only 17 years old.....and Japennes girl is 25 years old 🤦 how cool Nicka is. We are very proud of her🫶🫶🫶 P.s and we had no Lithuanian references in this match like Japan(they had one) what is in my opinion is not very fair 🙄🤷
A Japanese judge giving all the points to a Japanese participant. Impartiality and fairness at its best! Nevertheless, both participants were awesome. I hope to see break dance in the future Olympics too.
As a breakdancer in the zeros and avid watcher of dance, I think Nicka had it just for me because of her musicality. Ami had the bigger moves but couldn't connect them. Both their freeze games werent very on point. But I just absolutely loved Nicka's energy and top-rock flow. Great battle!
Nicka was better and should have won. I feel like Japan mostly used the legs, while Nicka did more advanced stuff wising her arms more. In the 80's I was a teenager and Nicka had fmore of the old vibe and did more variations.
@@pingwinner_ unfortunately when both are very good you have to pick them apart on technicalities like this. I liked Nicka more too, but you can't really score objectively on "who looks cooler". I also feel like Nicka tired herself more by being a bit more extra with her moves, which is very cool to watch but makes her sloppy when finishing up her round. at the end of the day though they were both amazing and neither lost, one won the silver, one won the gold. each one of them brought their countries a medal
Am I the only who thinks Japan was clearley better? Lithuanian Nicka needed two rounds to warm up and there were no eye-candy freezers from her site. However, I am no expert whatsoever.
unexpectedly starting balling crying at the end there..! How far women have come in the last 128 years... from not being allowed to take part in the olympics, not encouraged to take part in sport generally, encouraged into very rigid, servile lives... to now... where beautiful young women can express themselves as their exuberant, athletic, individual selves... and be applauded and celebrated by large audiences ❤

It was awesome event to watch, I have never seen any breaking competition before and I could say that's the most fun event so far in the olympics! But I did not like scoring from the judges, very subjective.
They were bigger for sure but they weren't more complex. The gold medalists transitions and musicality were exceptional, and she made some really difficult things look effortless, but that doesn't mean they were.
Ami has a great flow and her moves actually align the with the music. The other candidate is doing great individual moves, but I don't like her transitions between those moves
Girl from Lithuania against Japan in breakdancing should have won the gold medal, but took second place because there was a Japanese person on the jury, how is that possible?
I feel like Japan deserved it, like- Nicka relied on the strengh of the trick and Ami relied more on flexibility and speed of the moves, throwing a few tricks that relies on strength. And uhh, I feel like there is more to the points than just showing off skills- like how clean the are, etc. So yeah (I am Lithuanian)
@@artmaknev3738 There are Olympic sports that have acquired movements from breakdancing. So the amount of practice and sporting discipline necessary to consider it a sport is not debatable. On the other hand, evaluation criteria have been created, which is why it has been incorporated.
I'm no expert on break dance, but can anyone explain to me how the Japanese girl won this? The Lithuanian girl seemed to me t the better one in every aspect. Her moves were spectacular.
Lithuanian girl had really slow first 2 outs. She didn't have as good flow as Japanese girl had. You cannot have bad flow, 0 explosivnes and expect that 1 powermove will win you battle. This was clear win for japan. You will see man's battles where everyone is explosive, have sick flow and does cool powermoves. Then there is problem who is really better.
I'm not a b-boy, but I am an enthusiast with experience in other dance styles. So, this is just my humble take: Bigger moves are not necessarily harder. They might look impressive from the outside, but they aren't always the most technical. I think the Japanese competitor was more technical and precise. This is especially evident in how she transitions from move to move. Those transitions are incredibly complex to pull off while keeping them in time, and she executed them perfectly. On top of that, she had all the best finishing poses, which is a very important element of breakdancing. The Lithuanian competitor didn't seem to pay as much attention to her finishers, and that definitely hurt her final score. All things considered, I think they are both amazing, and I wouldn't have been upset if the Lithuanian had won. I think it was close, but I understand why the Japanese competitor scored higher. The thing with events like this is that taste matters. It's not cut and dry like a 100m race, where whoever gets to the finish line first wins. Breakdancing is more of an art form than a sport, and you can't really quantify aesthetics with a point system. Subjectivity matters.
@@domagojklupac4873 i mean moves that japanese did in 3rd round is like smth you would see in regular school.. her whole flow was that she's pretty that's it.. far far lower difficulty.. to let same country people judge is beyond degeneration.. and your 2digit iq argument about flow is beyond me.. did you watch 1sr round and think that japan did better also? don't be pathetic.. she looked like a rug..
@@OG.Gianiiithe only reason there are "experts" judging their performance is because this dance got popular and the only reason this dance got popular was because there were simple people like markycupko who said "that looks cool" and "that person has cooler moves than that other person" and so on Without people like markycupko, there would be no breakdancing, so by your comment, it's clear the person who knows nothing about breakdancing is actually you
Flicking through the Olympic program last night, I came across the B-Girl competition. I know absolutely nothing about breaking, but I was mesmerised!! These girls were stunning & the music was mega! Well done Ami ❤
I know nothing about breakdancing but when I think about breakdancing spinning on the head always comes to my mind and Nicka did more of these "typical" moves I have no clue how it works with points but imo Nicka did a better job
For anyone complaining about breaking being in the Olympics: What do you think of dressage? Shooting? Rhythmic gymnastics? Speed walking? Are people honestly evaluating the physicality of breaking, or is there some kind of bias going on? 🤔
so many people saying nicka was better. i thought they were pretty close but i don't think nicka was better. bare in mind i have no knowledge on breakdancing

I trully agree that people dont realise the skill, stamina and effort break dancers need to deliver. Probably because its art together with a physical exercise makes it look unolympic, but I like it that it promotes breaking to the youth who might not be interested jn other sports.
I am 100% sure the haters would say the same thing about speed walking. We are not prejudice against the one event, we are prejudice against many events. At least breakdancing looks cool. Speed walking looks like they’re all trying to get to the toilet.

Yeah and you don't understand about final freeze pose. Lithuanian did not have it. She can not end the moves well. This is the most important part in breakdance
I'm just in shock! the elements of the Japanese dancer were two heads weaker, except for the moment when she rolled on her hand in the 3rd round. According to the complexity of the dance, Lithuania won by one goal. I wonder how the judges evaluate 🤦♂️ Maybe they're tossing a coin... I'm sorry. This is not normal
Was skeptical at first. But I'm now persuaded. This was pretty damn entertaining. We accept artistic gymnastics and underwater dancing. So why not this ?
They're both great but I loved Ami dance moves much more, she made me naturally have a rythmic move to my body, I wanted to dance along with her. She made everything look so smooth and easy... Kudos to her 👏🏻
As a random bypasser who is clueless about breaking and was curious as I had no idea this was an olympic sport too, I vote for Nika. Greater diversity of moves and overall just liked it more, was engaging to watch 🤷🏻♀️
Damn, they are super talented, never in my wildest dream would have i thought there will be breakdancing at the olympics, but it's most welcome. Congratulations to the finalists!
Being 1e or 2e is so often just a small difference. Both did great and are deserving of an Olympic medal. I love that we have a new olympic game where everyone can shine, now waiting for the Olympic Breaking Youth :) Ive seen some pop off!!!
Nicka has the right vibe and energy when dancing. I saw many different moves. The Japanese girl did dance good, but I saw a lot of pausing as if she was trying not to mess up or fall. I know some of the pausing was part of dance but others looked like she was trying not to mess up.
