Thank you again to those who applied for 5 pilot users to our very first online course ( www.shinagawa-japanese-cooking.com/online-course )! I really wouldn't be here without your support. It's easy to say but it really means a lot to me. So thank you!! 🙏arigato!

You're welcome, Miwa-san!!! Thank you for allowing me to be one of the pilot users, I'm sooo excited and can't wait to get started! It'll be great to have a structured change to my diet and cooking habits, as I tend to be pretty lazy and sometimes eat only once a day... sometimes because I'm busy and forget, sometimes because I'm lazy!!! You know I love the food you make, so I'm really excited to see what we're going to be making on your online course! xxoo

Hi Miwa-san….when I visited Japan many many years ago, we went mid to late March. It was still cool but very nice. I remember my friend telling me the humidity can be overwhelming if you’re not accustomed to it. Today in the metro Vancouver area it is hot today and temperatures are going up to mid 30’s this coming week. We do not experience much humidity here. I love the onigiri you always make. I’m going to start adding edamame to mine too. When I used to make a very similar egg omelette for my kids, I would start in a pan like you then when the bottom was cooked, I would place under broiler in the oven and the omelette would finish cooking on top and actually be kind of “fluffy”. But perhaps turning on the broiler is too hot in this weather. Arigato for your many ideas for all your viewers. You are teaching us a better way of eating and how important gut health is. Take care 😊🇨🇦

Is the breakfast with Rice, Soup and 3 Side Dishes called: " Ichiju Sansai " ? - Gohan (ご飯) - a bowl of plain steamed rice. - Shiru (汁) - a bowl of soup, which may contain vegetables or tofu. - Okazu (おかず) - main dish and 2 side dishes composed of vegetables, tofu, fish or meat. - Kouno mono(香の物) - a small plate of pickled seasonal vegetables. What would 3 side dishes be called instead of Okazu (1 main + 2 sides)? It is very inspiring, a concept for breakfast: Rice, Soup, Sides. It feels like a very balanced but substantial start to the day with good nutrition, digestable calories and delicious flavours. My 3 main breakfasts are: 1. Coffee + Sourdough Toast with Marmite 70% of my breakfasts 2. Porridge (in Winter) 3. Fruit and Veg Smoothie (in Summer) This would be excellent to reduce my dependence on bread and coffee in the morning and have Miso Soup to replace coffee and rice and sides to replace bread. Thank you! ps: Your website is well designed. I am very critical of most websites as their organization, layout and navigation are imo terrible for the User Experience. But you have used logic to make it clear how the recipes CAN work according to what the User might be looking for. In addition the House Style and colours are very well chosen and it has a beautiful atmosphere demonstrating your cuisine very well. Secondly and importantly, it is clear what people might be interested in purchasing as well and what these contain is clear. That is important too to reassure customers.
@MiwasJapaneseCooking

okazu is a collective term of side dishes including main dish and koumono. I'm glad to hear that you got some inspiration from videos. Also, thank you very much for your great feedback on my web. I'm very relived to hear it!

Hello Miwa! In summer I like a salade of cucumber, endive, scallions, arugula and sometimes with avocado too. I like fresh lemon juice if I'm having it with avocado and a lemon - Dijon vinaigrette if without.

This was the hottest week so far this year with almost 40°C, but only for two days or so. I find myself still very hungry, maybe because it is so straining for the body to handle the heat.

Sorry to hear it is still so hot in Tokyo. Here we had a couple of days of record breaking heat, almost 40 degrees. Now it's back to barely 20 degrees. When I can get good okra I usually make a clear soup with it. You can add chicken or tofu or abura age. It's has that nebaneba texture that thickens the broth, my daughter loves it. And I recently saw a recipe for okra kara age. Really want to try that. In summer I always looking forward to fresh corn. And I wish we could get fresh edamame here I miss that. Hmmm as a substitute for cheese in the onigiri I would probably use some tenkasu tempura crubs.
@MiwasJapaneseCooking
@MiwasJapaneseCooking 2 года назад
I saw the news! it's so unusual to hit 40℃ in your area right? I'm glad to hear it's back to normal now. tenkasu! What a genius! it's gonna give the richness for sure!

@@MiwasJapaneseCooking yes it was the highest temperature ever recorded.Ussually it's hot when it is around 25 degrees but a few tropical days are possible but never that high. Our houses don't have airconditioning in general (now people are installing them) so inside it was also 32 degrees.
