I've been away from Japan for a while, so it's fun to hear the background for this type of current slang. You mentioned <ガチ勢>,but didn't break it down like the others. Stuff like this is really helpful. I try to practice Japanese by tweeting and repeating the things I'm doing in Japanese. Lately I've been playing a lot of an MMO and it took me forever to even learn how to say "this is my character in..." and even then, I can't be sure it's totally correct...! I could be meant to say 'avatar' or something similar.

It's always a trip seeing something I take for granted in English written in Katakana, like Smash Bros. I would've thought "Oh! スマブロ is how your write it obviously" Obviously Brothers in english has an ah sound in the first vowel, but the shortened Bros has an oh sound. Never even stopped to think that the shorthand Smash Brothers would result in スマブラ. I can't not pictures a fighting game among bras now.

Flag is a programming/development term. Synonym: trigger. Using variables to signify something. Typically a boolean (variable whose values are only true or false)
@Yotanido
@Yotanido 5 лет назад
I have to say, the first time I saw フラグ used like that, I was quite confused. I do say flag sometimes, but I generally just refer to a boolean variable with that (or maybe a single bit in an integer; depending on how that int is used) In a game, I always say trigger. It triggers a flag, perhaps, but I wouldn't call the trigger itself "flag". That said, once I understood it, フラグ did sort of make sense to me, even if I'd never say that myself.

I didn't know Otoge could be written with the kanji of "sound", it's interesting! I always knew otoge was the abbreviation for Otome Game in general. Japanese internet slang can get quite complex I guess, in italian we mostly use simple abbreviation, unlike even english which everyday makes up new weird words! I had to look up "stan" and still don't get it... atleast japanese slang has some kind of sense.
