I recently picked japanese back up after a 15 year hiatus. This time I've focused on kanji, and I'm actually keeping up 😎 thanks for the practice study!

Thanks for your comment and welcome back aboard soldier! 🫡 If I may ask, what cause that 15 year hiatus? I think the most important is to keep going, even if it's at a different pace. You're not racing anybody, but yourself, and it's rather a marathon, not a sprint. A lot of people compare to others, but it's unfair to do so as we all have different situations, reasons and time available. 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪

That's a pretty intense Anki list. As someone that's been through 2/6k and RTK, trying to pick up multiple vocab decks is going to snowball like crazy in the coming months to the point you might get overwhelmed; if that happens then just be sure to have one of the vocab decks be your main driver and drop another. It's honestly much better to increase the card count of one vocab deck than to have multiple. 頑張って!

Thanks for your comment and advice! Yeah there's a lot of cards, however a lot of the vocabulary from one deck can be found in another, so it's more repetition for me in different sentences and context. I just need to go at a faster pace at the moment, but once I finish some decks it will get a lot easier. 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪🏻

If i may, I'd like to ask a question I'm curious about Do you study Japanese grammar? Thanks for the videos and always keep going ❤
@littlepebble
@littlepebble 2 месяца назад
Thanks for your comment and support! Yeah I study grammar as well. I do it with Tae Kim's grammar guide and another channel called Game Gengo that covers Japanese grammar using video game sentences as examples. I know about other channels too, however these methods I enjoy a little bit more than others. Cure Dolly's videos are good info too, but audio is unbearable. Good luck to you as well! 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪

Thanks for your comment! Starting can be daunting and then the next challenge is showing up every day and being consistent, but you can do it! Just start small and slowly increase it as you go. 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪🏻

Hey! Last time I forgot to ask, are you using FSRS or the old algorithm for Anki? Thanks! 頑張って!
@littlepebble
@littlepebble 2 месяца назад
Thanks for your comment once again! I know about FSRS, however I am using the default settings of Anki for that one. The way I see it is like this: There are many people that got to a really high level of Japanese and they didn't use this algorithm and were using an outdated or older version of Anki's one and they were just fine. If I will ever see big problems with memory and I will find out that it's due to the algorithm, then I can give it a chance and try it, however until then, I will stick to my current settings.

just found ur channel through RU-vid algorithm and want to share sth to the fellow grinding. I have been grinding continuously since Feb last year (around 1 and a half year), now I am currently on tango N1 deck. imo, 1. Tango N5 decks and core 2k/6k is quite similar so pick only one maybe better as you will start to get a heavy load of the New cards due to a high amount of the card from your setting. 2. I think you should also spend time learning on grammar as well, I watched Dolly Sensei as I followed themoeways guide, not sure that you learn it out of stream timing or not, but if you do, I am concerned that your time grinding will be too much per day. 3. I divided what I should learn into 3 different groups for each N level which are Vocab, Kanji, Grammar. So after finishing tango N5, I try catching up with the rest of the group, however, as I am grinding, I notice that the most issue I got right now is 'listening' as I mostly spend time on Anki. Even right now my vocab and kanji is already on N1 and Grammar around N2. I find out that it's very hard for me to understand what people said instantly without reading a JP subtitle. The issue is because I can't translate JP fast enough in my head, this is what I still need to improve, I think my listening skill right now maybe only around N3 level. Well, I still have a long way to go as well, I am aiming for N2 testing by the end of this year if possible. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment and support! 1. I know about the similarities of these decks, however I'll stick with both even if they are similar as this way I will repeat the words in different sentences and intervals. 2. Regarding grammar, I know about a lot of different grammar guides and I watched Cure Dolly's first 4-5 videos and I will continue to watch, but it's pretty unbearable audio. I am reading through Tae Kim's guide and also watching Game Gengo's grammar explanations using games. 3. Well that's why I do immersion, and I believe it's the most important. I want to learn Japanese to be able to speak, listen and read any content for real life or online, both vlogs, gaming related stuff, Anime/Manga etc. You could try to watch 1 minute without subtitles, see what you understand, go back and watch with subs for 1 minute and see if matches then go again the same minute without subs to see if you can get it now completly. I wish you good luck and I hope that you can keep going! 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪

do you write down the kanjis ? or how do you remember them? i write them down 5x everytime i see a new one or when i didnt remember one
@littlepebble
@littlepebble 2 месяца назад
Thanks for your comment! I don't write any kanjis, I just type them on a keyboard. One day I want to come back and write all the Jōyō kanji, however at the moment this is not a focus of mine. When it comes to remembering them, I use mnemonics and pure insanity. The KanjiDamage deck that I have is designed specifically for this.

Damn bro you are studying a lot of cards everyday, I used to add 50 everyday and usually review 350 but i ended up burning out and giving up of anki for a while, nowadays i only use anki for half an hour and 20 new cards everyday.
@littlepebble
@littlepebble 2 месяца назад
Thanks for your comments! Yeah it can get overwhelming, but I can't give up. I just need a kick start into it and then I will slow it down later once I get passed a certain stage. I want to immerse as much as possible, but that's not possible with limited vocabulary and kanji knowledge since I will just use the dictionary the whole time and it will make the process less fun and frustrating. What you're doing is really smart and sensible with 20 cards. It's a really good number and it will scale really well. Just think about 1 year, that's 7,300 cards. I don't know what kind of deck you're doing, but that's a lot of cards you're going through. After all, burning out and giving up is the worst thing that can happen to us so we have to avoid it. 一緒に頑張りましょう。💪🏻
