so January 1st is kind of like the black Friday for japan, only instead of getting specific things for a heavy discount and worrying about people breaking into fist fights or worse over socks, you are getting bags at a set price for bags full of random goods that would have been for much more normally and the worst you would have to worry about are the bags running out before you get there. I like this concept much better.
Lucky bags are the best thing about New Years! Thanks SOOO much for buying tons of bags for those of us who live vicariously though you opening them! As always, much love for you, your family, and your channels.
You're such a professional lucky bag shopper! Haha I need to take notes for next year ;) This was my first year buying them and I didn't know the stores or brands well enough to buy any clothes. But I still got some cool stuff and had a lot of fun! 😁
It used to be a lot crazier when I was a kid but the Japanese stores/companies came up with tickets and other ways to make it less crazy because there were too many injuries and other problems with just letting customers run and fight with each other.
I like your plan to migrate all of your new and ongoing content over to your Sharmanda channel, and keep this channel just for when you do Japan videos. I think it is a great idea, not only because this channel has such a dedicated Japan following, but also because I want to see you evolve to Sharmeleon!
Got the notification while shopping for Fukubukuro here in Honolulu! (We celebrate all Japanese holidays and traditions here on O’ahu). Got some great things! And some not so great.....😅 the luck of the bag! Happy new year and good luck on your next journey!
The Fukubukuro bags started on the 31st at International Market Place. So we went there on the 31st and got 2 bags from Fossil, 3 from Mistuwa, 1 from Harley Davidson, 1 from Godiva chocolates and 1 from Sugarfina. The Fossil and Mistuwa ones were totally awesome!!! Highly recommend for next year. Then on the 1st we went to Ala Moana Center. Got a bag from Microsoft (waited in line for more than an hour), 2 From Animation Magic (got a Pokémon theme bag and Tokidoki theme bag), 2 From Sand People (a beach accessories and beach house themed store) and 2 from T&C (a local Hawaiian surf shop). Then I needed my Japanese fix, so we went to Hakubundo and got 4 bags which were stuffed with Japanese stationary, Pokémon stuffies, and accessories. Next year I’ll defiantly go to Mitsuwa, Fossil, Microsoft and Hakubundo again.
Tigerlilycoconut Those sound like really good bags!! 😁 Yeah kinda good the IMP started a day earlier. What did the Mitsuwa one have? They have similar stores so we only went to Ala Moana. We went to Animation Magic too! Were you in line for them? They ran out of the big one by the time it was our turn. We usually get lucky with a Pokémon bag but we got Paw Patrol this time, which my son doesn't watch it, but at least we got a bag for next school year! How's the Tokidoki bag? I saw Hakubundo had but my family was starting to get tired so I skipped it. lol There's was less than 50% value but sounds like it was still good though?
Keyboard san got an underwear lucky bag!!?? How dare he wasn't Taylor's elephant G-string good enough for him this Xmas lol Can't wait to see what you get this year. Happy New Year Sharla!!! xx
so I know this is a pretty old video now but I'm going to be in Tokyo over new years and want to grab some lucky bags- pokemon, probably adidas same as you and then some clothes probably. Husband wants a bic camera bag but I feel like that's a tall ask lol. Is it sunshine city you went to here for the pokemon centre or is there another/better mall to go to? Any tips or suggestions about where to go or what time to start would be much appreciated, I want to make sure we don't mess up!
I have a 5 week-old rescue kitten that generally loves watching movies/youtube with me.. but she went ham at the part when you were filming the other little kitten; she puffed up her coat and let out the tiniest hiss. Wish I could've filmed it, it was hilarious!
Favorite time of the year! Seems like your lucky bag thing is kinda equivalent to the US black Friday shopping (with the waiting in line etc) except WAY better!
I’ve been refreshing my RU-vid periodically throughout the day waiting for a video and of course it’s when I decide to take a nap you up load lol. That’s okayy because it meant I still got to watch a video, I miss your daily vlogs so much already 😭 Anywho, I can’t wait to see what’s in all the bags!!
i just watched kim opening her pokemon center bags! since i know what's in the poke bag, i am more excited to see what clothes you're going to get than the poke stuff (especially the adidas one). one day japan, i will be there for new years to get a fukubukuro!
I hope you move to Korea goes well. I know from lots of personal experience that relocating and making friends, finding a routine, etc. can be really tough at first. But just hang in there and you'll be fine!
I had fun with mystery bags! I got some really cool stuff. At the arcade in Sasebo the stores had bags with different values, 50 yen and up. The 100 yen stores were fun, and the weird young adult clothes stores were probably my favorite.
I love how excited everyone was that even they ran to get the Pokemon lucky bags 💖 Good luck in this new chapter in your life, Sharla, I've been a follower for both your channels for a long time now and I'm excited to see what you'll be showing us about South Korea 💖 also I can't wait for the rest of the LB videos, I've already watched the Pokemon Center one. 💓
I can't wait to see what's inside the bags! Would you ever sell some of the things you don't like online like on eBay? I know I would love a lot of things, especially since I don't live in Japan and the quality seems to be really good!
so sad that your main channel is winding down 😔 but i’m excited to see what videos you’ll be making in korea! also yes the lucky bag videos are my favorite videos to watch every year lol
That's such a fun idea! I can't ever imagine them doing that in the states for some reason. Seems like the retailers and big brands here would see it as a risky promotion. But I bet people would love it. Enjoy your channel Sharla! Happy new year!
Yay! I'm looking forward to seeing you open all of these. I have always enjoyed your Fukubukuro videos. Thanks for sharing this experience again. Happy New Year to you, Sharla and I hope you have much health, much luck and an awesome year... and easy move! ... and Beautiful upcoming Wedding!~
Happy new year Sharla!!! I've only been subscribed for a few months so i'm totally discovering the lucky bags!! What a cool tradition! I love surprises!! Can't wait for the opening especially the ing bag!
Happy New Year Sharla!! I moved to Okinawa 3 months ago and I finally bought a lucky bag!! I was so excited when i saw them. I loved everything I got in my bag
I remember watching your lucky bag video last year! can't believe time has gone by so quickly~ happy new year and good luck with all future adventures in Korea, as well as the lucky bags! (and did I just hear "Oh Little Girl" from Produce 101 in the beginning of the video playing in the car?)
Yes!! My friends and I were lucky enough to get lucky bag tickets. We were near the end of the line and got some of the last tickets available. Very stressful, but very worth it. I'm curious to see which version of the bag you got!!!!
I'm living in Japan and went to the department store (and the Pokemon Center) on New Year's Day, but I didn't buy any lucky bags. I got there so late that they were mostly sold out anyway, but I doubt I would have if they weren't. It's fun watching other people open them, but I'd be too nervous about spending money on things I don't want.
Yey, I love watching your lucky bag videos! I picked up one for myself this year and got so many great clothes - I hope you have more luck with the ING bag than the Moussy one last year ☺️
Sometimes I feel so jealous because my country doesn't have any kind of lucky bags but at the same time I would be to afraid that the bag had nothing I like XD. I can't wait to see what's inside, especially the pokemon ones ^^
lmao I love how sharla is like ohhh it's only 3 thousand (30 dollars) I mean, I would be like damn 3 thousand? that's way too much. hahaha I aspire to be like sharla
