In this video, we will go over the 12 note system in Japan!
The "Juuni Ritsu" (十二律) refers to the 12 standard pitches used in traditional music in China, Korea, and Japan. These pitches are based on the "San Fen Song Yi" (三分損益法), a system that divides one octave into 12 tones.

Is all traditional Japanese music in 12-tone equal temperament? Since pitches like C#/Db share the same name. (In european classical music prior to the 19th century there were temperaments where C# and Db would've sounded different, thereof their different names.)

No they are divided with the Pythagorean tuning.
