Not a good idea for the 'wild card' additional quota at 4CC/Euros/Worlds. There's Grand Prix final for that, when it's completely merit based and the entire discipline *can* be composed of teams/skaters from the same country. Expanding quotas at the championships will for sure lead to complaints. Imagine if 4 Russian women could be sent to Worlds in 2020 & 2021; the complaints would have been endless.

I thought of the Russia factor, too. A wild card quota kind of works in theory when international podiums are composed of skaters from a variety of countries, like the way things are now. Say, for example, Japan could send 4 men to Worlds. Realistically, there's zero chance that Japan would claim gold, silver, bronze, and the 4th place spot. But in the days of Russian female dominance, it would have been a likelihood that they would claim the top four spots. Gone would be the chance that another skater could podium if one of the (Russians) struggled. Looking forward to a few years from now, assuming Russians are allowed back in ISU competitions, it will be the pairs discipline that will be turned over to the Russians. Might as well forget about other countries like Japan investing in a pairs program, when that happens!

Hana's FS is one of my favourite programs this year too. Some of the moves in the step sequence are brilliant choreography. I'm super glad to hear Mai has been named to 4CC, she has a traditional connection with that competition by now.

2 hours on the Japanese national...terrible. There are many other valuable things in figure Skating you could have focus on. This is why figure skating have been loosing audience due to the cruel bias against the other countries that participate in Figure Skating. Everyone looks the same in their programs and there is no artistry or inventive moves, its lack luster.
