Those lines or channels on the bottom of your flattening stone are really useful to help your stone not to stick to the main stone while flattening. I had to create some small channels on my negaro (or flattening stone), otherwise it just sticks to the main stone.
Hi Chun, they are not flattening stones, they are slurry stones.. To create a slurry it is easier to use the corner/side to create a slurry. Thank you for watching and commenting
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with jants. For the past several months I have been working with my jnats. In a recent video you commented that jnats do not remove very much metal, that hit home with me. I have been puzzled about that as my stones do not seem to create metal scarf like a synthetic stone does. As I am new to honing, your comments on slurry are very helpful, I would love to see more videos about honing. Thanks again.
i watched that first video to mate . and concluded you are definitely one deep fella 😂😂😂😂😂 but in a good way . absolutely fascinating subject i find . and i don’t think it’s about you being right or wrong but what you have personally found in your quest for not an edge but “that edge” if that makes sense . i tell you you ask 100 honers and you will get 50 or 60 different answers. however i like the cut of your jib . and i have not used jnat but what you say certainly rings a bell with me . i find honing (and i say that very loosely because i really am a total novice ) not a means to an end but a journey the stones take you on . really enjoyed that video . man must have been gutted when you found that camara was in photo mode 🤪🤪🤪
2:18 Everyone who puts those channels on their naguras ultimately regrets it. Suction from the base stone always pulls bits off like that and it'll ruin you day. I'd consider that a sunken cost and remove them, otherwise they'll be there to remind you every time you pick it up. 7:20 - I restore razors and he unrestores them - Classic 11:46 How are you determining the edge after 15 or 9 laps without a shave? I don't think I've ever just done 9 laps and gone "there it is". I'd be really interested to know this. Looking forward to the bevel setting video, pity you lost the footage.
Hi T. I determine the edge buy checking the level of Kasumi finish on the bevel, and looking for a chipped or wonkey edge under the scope. Then strop and re check under the scope, if the edge is chip free and straight and passing the HHT, we can shave. On any other jnat i wouldn't have to shave test but this thing is an anomaly. I have a new theory and i will discuss it in my shave video , coming soon to a RU-vid channel near you.. Cheers Joseph
@@EdgeDynamicsEnglishRazors I saw the thumbnail at the time, clicked on it but it was gone at that stage. You must have just deleted it. Now I'm dying to see it lol.
