Once again you surprise me with your extremely well put education, respect for other cultures and good palate! You are the best, keep up with the excellent work and come in Italy one day or another 👍
We love you!
Hehe, in Italian the h is put to make a hard sound between the letters c or g and a "soft vocal", the i and the e. For example: Cipster is pronounced chipster, while chinotto is pronounced kinotto.
Really glad you enjoyed most of the things :D Satoshi's face when he tried Galatine was priceless, ahahah! Even in Italy we have opposing factions of those who hate them and those who love them. To answer some of your questions: -Chinotto (pronounced kinotto!) is made with a really bitter citrus fruit from which it takes the name. -Cioccolato di Modica is a chocolate bar produced with an ancient recipe that the Spanish are said to have brought from America to southern Italy. That's why it is so rough and uneven. -Canestrelli are made just of butter, flour and starch. Sometimes vanilla and/or lemon jest is added. -Pocket Coffee should contain liquid coffee in them. The shipping probably ruined the original form, but the flavor is still there :)
Thank you Isos for these amazing treats! The Cioccolato di Modica was amazing and unique. Love the flavor and texture. Satoshi adored the Pocket Coffee! But really, everything was delicious! We have one more episode left for your Italian treats. Once again, thank you my friend.
Hey guys, I really enjoyed the series. Speaking of Pocket Coffees, you are not supposed to melt them inside an espresso; on the other hand, they are meant as substitutes for it. Basically, we are a country of coffee addicts, so those chocolates let you have about as much coffee as half a cup of espresso without stopping at a bar. It's a way to keep going during the day!
I loved when he said: "it reminds me of my childhood". For a moment I thought Galatine could remind you of your childhood even if you've never eaten them!
Hi guys, I love your videos, and it's nice to see you eating all those Italian snacks, and sweets, which reminds me of my life in Italy. Yes I'm Italian, but I've been living in London for the past 23 years. Your Italian pronunciation, is very good indeed! :)
Hi Guys, you've got a new italian subscribe! I'm so happy that you like our snacks, and i love the respect and the education for our country you put in this video!! Good job!
I can't wait for part3! Isos did a great job selecting snaks representing every part of Italy, from Sardinia to Venice, and you guys are doing an amazing job critically analyzing each product. Most of your questions have been already answered excpet the one about Big Babol "filifolli", fili folli means "Crazy Strings", because it's very "stringey". You guys are amazing, i love your videos!
Another great video! Really enjoyed it. And the Mickey Mouse T-Shirt is my favorite. It is stinking cute. I would definitely wear something like this. ^__^
What a grand food haul! I love the pronounced almond flavor of Amaretti di Saronno. I'd want to try Pocket Coffee since I'm a coffee fanatic. Thanks for a fun video and have a great weekend.
you will, my mother is as well, being extremely picky about her coffee, she made plenty of italian baristi retire her order because they weren't good enough, or very washed, but she loved to eat pocket coffees all the time, it just ticks with her, same goes for my father which has an even harder time, as he loves extra bitter coffee(he doesn't put sugar in it).
The Canestrello (pl. Canestrelli) is a ligurian cookie that is usually made with flour (and sometimes potato starch), butter, egg yolk and scented with vanilla and lemon. They are usually dipped in coffee or in strong wine (as for most italian "plain" cookies").
I've just started following you guys, I really like your videos! And, as an Italian, I can teach you just a little thing: the pronounciation of words with CI or CHI. Over here the pronounciation is exactly the opposite of how it is in Japan (I assume you're from Japan, is that right?). So when you see "Chinotto", it's pronounced as "Kinotto", while if you see "Cipster", it's actually pronounced as if the H was there :D
Modica chocalate Is prepared at cold temperature and not hot like the normal other chocolates and what crunches is the sugar because It doesnt melt at low temperatures. Ciao
Hi guys, I love your channel! 😊 For Canestrelli, we have different kind of them along northern Italy, above all Liguria and Piemonte. The one you tried in the video are the basic recipe from Liguria ( that’s why they’re called canestrelli liguri) and actually they don’t have particular flavor, they’re made just of butter, flower, sugar and eggs. What’s make them special in my opinion is the powder vanilla sugar sprinkled on them.. simply great, I love canestrelli!
Twix has caramel, kit kat is a chocolate covered wafer stick with a light chocolate filling, almost like a moose (not the animal). The coffee chocolate was filled with Coffee liquor (non alcoholic, similar to sugar liquor)
Everytime I see someone biting a pocket coffee, I hold my breath for a second :D You're so funny guys!! Itaria kara no aisatsu! (sorry if it's not right, it's from google translate 😞 )
Well in italian chi is read Kee (like key) and ci is read chee (like cheese) Cipster -> read cheepster Chinotto -> read keenotto You're so funny guys, I love u!
Love your channel (new subscriber here lol)!! Canestrelli is just a plain vanilla cookie with confectionary sugar on it! italians eat them with a cup of tea or coffee!! Please more videos of tasting food love them!!
Can I just point out - I come to TabiEats for the food and the snacks, but what I also end up getting, is a wealth of body language studies with the reactions.
Hello Tabi, i really enjoy your serie. I'm italian, let me say that the donor gave you some of the better products you can buy in a medium/high grocery shop. Those are not cheap imitations, IGP means quality and 'Terre d'italia' for example it's a standard brand from a supermarket chain fot the best local products. your italian pronunciation it's quite good, I can understand what your eating without looking at the screen. Thanks again for the entertainment! I wish i can bring you a bottle of prosecco. About the Nippon chocolate/rice biscuit, even if it's made in germany, it was and still is very popular in italy. Yes I also think that is called Japan after some qualities, it's good rice, practical, good and healty. Like we think it's life in the land of the rising sun. Bye!
EVerything as absolutely delicious and like you said, very high quality. We are so thankful to our Italian friend who sent this to us. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy part 3
yup, for example lindt is considered arguably the most pricey standard chocolate maker in italy, with easter eggs that can cost upwards of 50 ueros, their chocolate is just that pricey and goo, they're most famous for their lindor, sam goes for the raffaelo, it is a variation on the ferrero rocher, which i like to see as depiction of earth:a hazelnut solid core, to indice the steel core of earth, nutella around it, to indicate the mantle(lava part), a hard shell of milk chocolate to indicate the sea, and sprinkles of nuts to indicate ground amountains. it's really good.
The chocolate you tried is from a beautiful city called Modica in Sicily. This kind of chocolate is supposed to be one of the oldest forms of sweetened chocolate. I tried it when I was there and I was also very surprised at the texture. If you ever get to go to Sicily.....do not pass up Modica. All of the food was amazing!!
Hi guys! I love your videos! I'm italian and you make me feel proud! I'll be in Japan next week and I'm so excited ;) I just wanted to tell you that if there is no H in "CI" the pronunciation is "chi" like "chimney" or "china". When you have the H, so when you read "CHI", you say "ki", like "kid" or "king".
a little note, in Italian the words are read as they are written. Returning to the video I recommend you taste the Apulian taralli (of baked bread baked pasta rings) especially those crafts are something unique, I recommend you also try the breadsticks, specialties of Piedmont.
Hi guys, i just want to point a thing. About Cipster, in Italian when you see an "I" or an "E" after a "C" you have to read the C as a "CH" in english, it is a soft sound. In all the other cases it is an hard sound, like "K". I hope you can understand the messagge, it is not easy to explain this without talking :] Love your videos and just subscribed, keep up the good work!
Canestrelli are basically just butter cookies covered in powered sugar, and the number 8 is actually spelled "otto", so Chin8 and Chinotto are the same thing ;) Anyway, amazing video as always, I can't wait for part 3! Greetings from Italy!
You are the only japaneses/ english guys who likes Galatine...a huge applause for you! Really good💋 ( sorry for imperfect english but i'm still studying and i'm not really good😅)
Hi guys! Nice video, I think yuo're very funny :D I explain you the word pun Chi8: this word is composed by Chi(we say "ki" like our き)+ 8( in italian is "otto")= Chinotto Anyway, you read italian, that's great! :D
Chinotto (pronounced key-no-ttoh) is made from the fruit of the myrtle-leaved orange tree. It resembles an orange but it's MUCH bitter. So much, in fact, that you can't eat that fruit. It's only used as a flavoring agent and as a component of fragrances. As far as I know, it's only found in central and southern Italy and some parts of North Africa. And yes, you're right: there's Chinotto in Campari. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citrus_myrtifolia
You are very cute! ☺ Well done, you have taken many products that are of excellent quality. If you happen to come to Italy, you will discover how many other good and beautiful things there are here. ☺ Good life.
Loved watching your videos so much especially when you try to pronounce some of the food. LOL The cookies that are shaped like flowers do have a touch of lemon in them. Canestrelli are simple, buttery shortbread-like cookies, shaped like flowers and covered in dusting of icing sugar most of the time. They are considered a Tea cookie and very popular around Easter time. Sent you a message on FB. 😍😘😋😌
Hi TAnia. Nice to see you here! It was so fun eating all the yummy food. We have one more batch of Italian goodies to try. YUM! And thanks so much for the recipe!
Hi, I'm italian! I love your videos and I'll try to explain us the doubts. 1. ''chi8" is a graphic name of ''chinotto'' and we read it like ''kinotto'', not ''cinotto'', because ''Ch'' is always read like a ''k''. 2.''farina di frumento'' means ''flour wheat'' 3.we eat ''pocket coffee'' in only one bite, because conteins real liquid espresso coffee 4. I'm surprise, they are the first not italian person who like it!! bye from Italy
Kit-Kat Chunky has caramel. But that TOGO chocolate reminds me of Cadbury Fingers Pocket Coffee is one of my favourites! I actually melted one in hot milk and it tastes quite good
I love you so much and I love how do you pronounce italian words! Sometimes you do some errors but it's adorable! i think that I would be worst with Japanese language. ♥
Is read "Chin-Otto": chinotto is a kind of citrus. Mostly in Italy chinotto soda is also called "Spuma nera". Frumento=wheat; wheat flour is more subtle than normal flour. Danish butter cookies are historically newer than Canestrelli! Canestrelli existed since '400. Lindt is a Swiss Company, so no italian chocolate. Shinichi who says "Banana" remind me of The Minions :D
You make an italian girl happy! :) After a lot of video of disgusted british, americans and whatever, finally someone that can appriciate our lovely biscuits and snacks! Btw, farina di frumento is wheat flour. The taste of Canestrelli is probably lemon skin+vanilla
Farina di frumento is a type of flour in fact farina means flour in Italian while frumento is wheat. Anyway chinotto is a plant more precisely a citrus so the family of oranges, lemons and so on ( like mikan also :D)
yeah, i was really disappointed when in the last episode they said italian chocolate is much much ebtter than japanase one... it killed all my hype for japanase sweets.
