Japanese veteran arrives in NE China's Harbin to pray, apologize

Hideo Shimizu, a #veteran who served in the notorious #Japanese germ warfare army's Unit #731 during World War II, arrived in #Harbin on Monday.
Shimizu is scheduled to visit the unit's sprawling complex where thousands of Chinese civilians and Allied prisoners of war were killed from the late 1930s to the end of the war.
"I have always wanted to go to China to pray for the deceased and apologize to their families," Shimizu said at a press conference in Japan's Iida City in July.

@@Glacier7474 they have too because they are also using US military might. On their own, they will not get anywhere. They are cowards, china is not interested in them because they have got nothing to offer in terms of mineral, oil etc. lots of earthquakes though. Since the Ming dynasty, they have been trying to conquer china but to no avail. The one thing I admire about them is their patriotism. They hardly ever betray their country or fellow citizens. Chinese has been fighting amongst themselves for a long time. Pray they will change. Chinese always talk bad about their own race. They need to change.

If you understand Japanese and their attitude and behavior towards hierarchy, you'll know that most of them doesn't have the power to retaliate or rather they'd rather commit seppuku than to surrender. Nonetheless their war crimes was so horrifying, like here in my country Philippines. In those three years of occupation, my country was left with a big scary but to not repeat those horrible times, I want to see this in positive light and an approach that peace can still be mended without the need of killing machines.
