After about a week, the splendid local pine staircase had been constructed.
The woodstove will be installed next to the staircase. It must be a stylish stairwell.

The kigorushi is a brilliant technique. It looks far superior to the Western method of driving wedges into the groove slots to lock treads and risers. I plan to adopt this technique in my next stair build.

@@89Ayten Same thought, except it's that old school dado blade that is turned to 'wobble' on the shaft. Can be tricky to work with, which is why we love our ' stacks'. I own one, used it on my first Crafstman table saw.

Japanese wood workers do a lot of pulling towards themselves. The saws cut pulling toward the body as do the planes. The pulling towards the body seems like it wood make cutting and planing more controllable ( and the planes seem extremely sharp ).

These videos are both entertaining and educational. Thank you for putting them here. I have a request though; can you stop putting background music on them please? Music is very personal so no matter what music you choose it will annoy some people. In addition some people watching may be autistic, like me, and for me this means I find it very difficult to understand what is being said while the music is playing, even if the music is quiet.
