Japow: Riding the Korua Shapes Dart 

The Korua Shapes Dart is one of my all time favourite powder boards, and it makes for an extremely nimble, agile ride. Its shaped like a rocket, and that's how it feels when your tearing through the powder. Its big shoveled nose makes sure the tip floats, and its notched out swallow tail makes sure the rear always sinks. Therefore, the board easily planes out of the snow, and is easy to ride very back footed. I love how the swallow rear is still fairly long, because it gives you enough tail to press back on when you're popping off of natural features.
This board likes to accelerate quickly, make tight fast turns, and still has a lot of stability on hard pack snow due to its camber dominant profile. I gave up some flotation by riding it in a smaller size- but over all that made it faster to "dart" around on- and I think its noticeable in my riding style.
On this day the powder has consolidated and settled into a more manageable snow pack. This means less snow flying up in your face, and better dampening under foot. This allows for some faster maneuvering in general because you aren't always waiting for the snow to displace around you. We continue to explore the off piste sections out of Gate 4 Hanazono, and I find some killer untouched pow!
The bad news is that I hit a tree in this one pretty hard. It got me just above the knee, and bruised my I.T band. The good news is, in the grander scheme of things, this injury wasn't that bad, and although I was bruised, I was able to keep on keeping on. The next day I was sore, but not sore enough to not snowboard!
Another super awesome thing about this day, was getting to meet and ride with Casey Willax and Daly Wear! These guys are pretty much exactly the same as you see in their vlogs; hilarious, over stoked and always ready for more action! Stay tuned for more footage with these homies!
All in all it was another fantastic day of riding in Niseko Japan, and the Korua Shapes Dart made it one for the books! Can't wait to jump on it again in the near future!
