This game is so s%#^ at telling when you’ve hit a wall. You can ram one at 150mph... no invalidation... but when you get millimetres close you apparently touched it. It’s stupid

Thats the way games work SMM. You see, being a game developer, my games need good systems. Altough it is Codemaster's fault, because they did not verify the system despite having a big team, I always make sure any systems that are there in my game are fault-proof or have a fault point (some systems do have this to make sure that things dont go out of control). But yea, I agree with you!

Monaco has the most inconsistent “track limits” in the whole game. Sometimes you smack into a wall and gain time and it doesn’t care. Other times you lightly brush the wall and get invalidated

same thing goes to Silverstone Copse (i dont really know the corner but the one where Verstappen crashed) if you go litterally out of the track it doesnt invalidate bue a few inches over the white line it invalidates

imo it just has stricter rules, and that is a consequence of policing track limits in code is much easier than in real life.

@@Thesoccerdood Thing is they really didn't, they follow the track limits guide almost perfectly. However, some tracks (irl) change their track limits all the time, and there's no point in codies changing it each time that happens so they just stick to the white line. In terms of stuff like this (hitting the wall) I think it's just a bug.

When a game is supposed to represent the real life sport, yet on the hardest track of them all, where the best lines are when you brush the walls with the side of the tyre, you still get invalidated when doing exactly what you are supposed to. Its stupid. F1 2020 is one of the better titles, but the invalidation system and the penalty system are shit and needs to be better in F1 2021.

To be fair. It's extremly difficult to do that because if there wasn't an invalidation for hitting the wall. You can just hug the wall the entire time which is faster in Monaco. So that' s the right option right now.

Codemasters logic, you touch the wall in MÔNACO, and your lap is canceled, not counting the track limits on the other tracks, you can't even use the zebras right on some corner exits

I hate time trial so much. I can go all 4 wheels off track to the point where I'm in another fucking country and it's still a valid lap, but if my front left goes 1mm too tight into a hairpin i've "Extended track limits" and have to start the lap all over again

Goes to show you cannot use the same penalty system for every track. Monaco needs a system where they measure how hard and long you ride a wall and time gained instead of just saying wall = penalty. Easier said than done when asking a computer to make that decision, but no lap should be invalidated solely on if a wall is hit or not, that's just not how racing works.
