Saras was one of the smartest players in Europe at his time in panathinaikos and was a pleasure to watch him and the other guys in this team play. Transitioning to coaching, the zeliko influences are noticeable in him which is not a bad thing at all

It’s just injuries, who runs this season for Zalgiris. Last year we go to final 4, because the team was healthy all season. Now Zalgiris started play like last year it’s sad that we lost too many games because of these injuries earlier.

No, this coach had a legendary career EVERYWHERE... won 1 with Barca, 2 with Maccabi and 1 with Panathinaikos... and the Maccabi of Saras and Vuicic was one of the most legendary unbeatable teams to ever show up in Europe... 93ppg for 2 seasons and 2 back to back Euroleagues... and 2 Euroleagues that they won by being the ABSOLUTE BEST team from start to finish... they were the favorite and won by a landslide...

@@ArunasMi Dude, I don't care to go back and nitpick every single play... the truth is that Vuicic and Saras made magic happen on this team... Parker and Baston were the cherry on top that made them one of the most monstrous if not the most monstrous team that has ever played in Europe... if you kept them under 90 points you had a godly defense... Zalgiris back then still had great players playing for them (I don't remember the exact roster of course but I suppose guys like Stombergas still played for Zalgiris back then... so they surely were tough to beat) Anyway... I still believe that early 2000's Maccabi was the best team to ever play in Europe along with that insane Jugoplastika with all these young and upcoming Yugoslavian stars... And maybe on the same level I would put Panathinaikos of 2009 with Diamandidis, Spanoulis, Saras, Pekovic, Nicholas, Tsartsaris, Fotsis, Batiste.... they were a monster team too..

@@sportschool3537 just rewatch the ending. They were losing by 3 with 2sec left and zal guard were shooting 2 fts. Maccabi was basically out before top4.. And yeah magic happens. Zalgiris had Sabonis who came to Zal for his last season and he got Mvp that season in El but he fouled out and we got destroyed in ot.. Which ofc in no way shouldve ever happened

I would like to get similar summary of main set plays before every game. It adds additional flavor in watching basketball when You expect and recognize some plays, get more sense in off ball movement, etc. For regular fan it is not easy to break down plays with many moving parts on the go, but these full team plays are the real beauty of basketball.

Team and especially coach results speak for themselves - being the team with second lowest budget in Euroleague it finished 3rd overall last year and hopefully this year aswell! Since there's no 3 second violation outside of the NBA, a lot of these plays seem to focus on baiting the big center into overcommitting to attack the basket.
