This was the first acoustic guitar I ever owned. Got it as a Christmas gift in 8th grade and played it until Sr year of high school. I bought a newer Taylor guitar but still have the Jasmine. It's a nice solid guitar that's good if you're starting out. Nice review man

Got mine on sale for 90 dollars I have owned two Taylor guitars, and will never buy another expensive guitar. For the money you can’t beat it. If you break it you aren’t out a ton and just go buy another. Ironically my hard case costs more than the guitar I protect with it. Beautiful sound on this guitar. Highly recommend

I just found one of these in my shed 5 days ago and I asked my parents where they got it and they said they picked it up at a yard sale for $10. Let’s just say I haven’t put it down yet unless I’m sleeping or at work and I already learned how to play Ed Sheerans version of “Love yourself” and a couple other simple things. I truly feel like this guitar is a gateway guitar and will definitely help you start playing and wanting more.

You hit all of the pros and cons of this guitar and they are worth every penny. Keep doing these reviews. I’m trying to catch up viewing the ones you’ve posted. Thanks!

I've had two Jasmine's over the years, great bang for the buck when you find em used for under $100. One of them I bought came with a hardshell case...I wound up selling the Jasmine but kept the case for my 1969 Yamaha FG-180. The tuners on the Jasmine are made of typical cheap pot metal. I used to string my cheap acoustics with electric strings too...so much fun to bend the hell out of em with bluesy stuff! I stopped doing it though, cuz there really is a big difference in tone. Great video, man!

Just a quick point if I may, Takamine sold off Jasmine to KMC Music back around 2005. The companies have no relationship now. Even today people think Takamine still owns them, but that is no longer the case. Still high value for the money.
@CoyoteDuran1

Yep. And that's a reason the headstock design changed. I bought Jasmine in 2010 but it must've been "old new stock" because it was brand-new but still under the Takamine umbrella. I've used mine as an upgrading platform, replacing the saddle with graphite, the plastic pins with brass, the but with a brass nut, new open-backed tuners, new pickguard and a pre-amp and Piezo pickup.

I’m a pretty good player and actually prefer cheap guitars like Jasmine compared to Martin’s or Taylor’s. Something about a guitar that gets the job done and makes me not worry about it getting dings. I have an older Jasmine and it sounds amazing and stays in tune really well.

I used to own a Takamine Jasmine with a cutout but seems with a less rounded “butt” than the one in the video. My friend own one too. Recently I bought a non cutout “dreadnought” Jasmine Takamine. It’s quality of superb for a amateur like myself but it’s deepest 2 strings, the 5th and 6th are creating such a deep sound. Not bad sound. It is soft and wooden sounding. I read that Jasmine/Takamine make their guitars with a matte finish because of the special tree from Indonesia which they use and everyone likes it.

I just bought this guitar at a pawn shop for 75 bucks which include the hard shell case. I really love this guitar. I bought $1,000. Mexican Martin and this cheap little Jasmine is better. Having a pickup installed as we speak at the local music store. It plays and sounds like a dream.

Ok you basically had me sold when you said it was made in Indonesia. Lot of good quality coming out of them. No Takamine is the parent company to Jasmine. You said Jasmine was a parent of Takaminie. Same font almost of Takamine and they make really good acoustics. Sounds like Jasmine is killing it on low end guitars. To make everyone feel better, I've played guitar for 25 years, I've had some crap in my time, however I have never owned any guitar that I could not make sound like it was expensive. As a matter of fact my USA made strat sits around and I don't play it much because I like my Indonesia made Schecter better. My experience is that the cheap vs expensive is a mute point when you learn how to setup a guitar correctly. If it is an instrument that has good intonation then it can be made to sound great. Oh and by the way, when I do want to play a strat I pull out a stupid bullet strat I own that actually sounds better than the Fender. I am blaming the stupid vintage noisless pickups in the Fender so if I trade them out it should sound right, its just a weak sounding guitar.

I also got a cheap guitar from my dad in the 90s which he bought for me at a cheap store for $99. Either it was one of those Rogue or something. I sold it to my roommates in college but later regretted it. Should have kept it as my first guitar bought by dad.

The Jasmine guitar company was originally founded in 1962 as an offshoot of the highly respected Japanese guitar brand Takamine. Although being associated with such a reputable brand would surely have helped Jasmine’s branding early on, they quickly gained their own cult following for producing extremely high-quality guitars at a fraction of the price consumers were used to paying. In 2005 Takamine sold its controlling share of the company to KMC, leading to speculation that the quality might decline, but we are happy to report that it is not the case! So, let’s explore what we consider to be their best acoustic offerings, so you can be sure to make a perfect choice!

How can you do a guitar review without proper strings? It sounds like either the guitar plays too stiff or like crap with traditional strings and your trying to push it as a great guitar. I'm not saying that's what you have done but it leaves plenty of guessing. A lot of Amazon vendors pull that stuff often. Put some real guitar strings on it and give us an HONEST review please.
