Absolutely the best conversation and explanation of why only a few artist can cross over into and do Country and be openly accepted. And why Darius Rucker, Kidd Rock and Post Malone have been so good at it and so welcomed by the majority of Country Music Fans. Great job explaining it Jason.
Post malone , Kane brown can sing traditional country music. Post malone just put out a traditional country song . And Kane brown performs Randy Travis songs and sounds amazing. Jelly Rolly is current country . These dudes don't care about haters . Love these dudes. They are definitely Country music artists. You need to listen to their traditional country performances.

Darius Rucker sounded like a Country Artist doing rock with Hootie. Post Malone has a timbre in his voice which has a strong flex, he could release a song in ANY genre and it will probably sound great. Less we forget he did a song with OZZY.

Jason aldean deserves to go into the country music Hall of Fame . 30 Number one hits and counting. Numerous Top ten hits and artist of the decade and all the awards to go with it. Jason Aldean is awesome. When you bridge from Jason aldean to morgan Wallen. My top 2 favorite current artists. Unbelievable talent.

Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, and Kid Rock all have country in their background and genuinely love country which is why they have had success in country. They didn’t make a mockery of it like other people that will not be named.
Post Malone has always been a HipHop/Pop guy with a country vibe, so his country sound is totally fitting! I live in Pendleton Oregon (home of the Pendleton Whiskey Fest and the Round Up) and everyone here totally loves him and he came and did Whiskey Fest back in like 2017 or 2018 and it was a major success. So him transitioning into country really does make sense.
Love Oregon. Just no jobs in the small towns. Went to Reedsport. Winchester Bay Area. Stayed for a month and pretty much lived off the land. One of the best times of my life. So beautiful. I would have stayed if there were more good paying jobs. Now back home in upstate New York.
Post is from my hometown of Grapevine, Texas. Granted a few decades after me. My mother-n-law was his first grade teacher. Over the years it’s grown exponentially, yet still has that small town fill. I now reside outside of Houston travel to Grapevine every few weeks to visit (actually I’m spend a few days being her handyman). Turns out Post is quite generous to his hometown, especially the school children. Not really a fan but then I think real country music died around 1990, sans a few and I men a few artists that actually play country.
He's written some GREAT songs...has a BEAUTIFUL voice...I listen to some of his less mainstream stuff... Felling Whitney...I fall apart..I just love his voice... And I love his attitude/personality....

The only thing I like or use in social media is, that we can get breaking news (and most often more truthful) than having to wait on news outlets on tv to come on and tell ‘their version ‘ of the truth. Kid Rock and Post Malone are artists that like Country and people like Darrius , kid and post are making music that they like writing their own songs and the then the sound board guy makes it sound rock, or country et. But they were writing country music all alone, that’s why Jessica Simpson didn’t make it.

Post malone is a legitimate musician. He started off a guitarist, has always been a country fan. It makes sense hed make an album. On top of lot of metal musicians are in Nashville writing country for the biggest names in the genre
I've been a country fan my whole life. I legit believe Post just dropped one of the best country albums in 30 years. Modern day country writers can't write a catchy chorus to save their lives. Couple songs on new album are whatever, but the majority are bangers.

Some of his rap songs have country themes, I always thought "Paranoid" by him was a country song at heart, doesn't sound like a country song at all, but the theme is super country, it's about the govt wanting to take you and your land

Arguably happens in every genre and every generation. This happens in hip hop too "that aint real hip hop" etc. Fact is, it may not be the country you grew up on and probably not superior but regardless there is no other way to categorize what country is today except the label "country" lol You wouldn't call it anything else. For example, "Pop-country" like its unnecessary. Its gonna be called country because of how it sounds and the roots it derives from. Nobody is gonna call todays country "bubble gum pop". It is country, its just not your cup of tea. It wasnt so long ago that anything besides gospel and hymns was considered "trash". Theres a whole generation that detest any radio music like Elvis. Hes deemed a legend, yet in those days, it was "Devil music". I think people just need to relax and realize they are just getting old and genres are evolving.
Well you have cowboy country, country pop, or Outlaw country like Kid Rock and Aldean. Aldean tunes the guitars down and basically sings honky tonk over a Metalica backing track.
