It sucked when Jason left MT, it sucked when MT left RU-vid, it sucked when MT on demand dropped Ignition and H2H, but at least Jason is bringing back some of the magic here and on Hagerty!
"...not exactly pleasant, but it's honest." Man...we need more of this in the automotive world. That is SO spot on and, in our current world of fake engine noise, touch-screen everything, \and soft-limiters, a car that isn't afraid to "be itself" really is an amazing, unique, glorious thing.
One of my all-time favourite car reviews. I've watched it several times over the last few years, which is weird. Who watches a car review more than once?
It’s crazy to me that it took engineers so long to figure out that people care more about the experience then about the stats. Good to see it’s finally happening.
Engineers knew the whole time, the accountants didn't. Mercedes lost the battle to the accountants, they aren't drivers cars anymore as they now appeal to the general population and keep solid margins.
Besides Jason and the Throttle House guys, there's basically no one else I'd rather watch review these cars. It's rare to find people that are so natural on camera, skilled behind the wheel, knowledgeable enough to present the finer engineering details, and charasmatic enough to keep you watching and wanting for more. I can't get enough of these episodes.
This is the reason why Porsche has always been and will always be the benchmark of sport cars. They understand what makes our ❤ tick. That 911R is absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks Jason!!!
Can we please make this man the mandatory tester and reviewer of ALL awesome performance cars????? No other tests/reviews even come close. I must have watched this video at least 20 times. It's like watching your favorite Hollywood movie over and over :)
I was thrilled to see that a bunch of Cammisa reviews from the past had been uploaded...certainly my favorite automotive journalist, as most others are as dry as a popcorn fart.
My first thought when you rotated the car, before taking the right fork was "Jason, you madman!" Love these videos! Don't stop. Brings joy to my heart!
Thank you so much for reuploading these Jason, they remind me of my early days as a car enthusiast!!! Also, how would you compare the 991 GT3 Touring Manual to this one?
There's just something so special about the 911. I've only had the pleasure of driving a 996 Carrera 4, but even that is an incredible machine. Amazing video as always, Jason!
@@e36s50b30 so true..... He will probably jizz his pants and gain mental illness when he drives any good 911........ That's also a Testament to how good the 911 is..... That even the worst is still amazing....
One of the best pieces of automotive content I’ve seen is Jason revisiting the Bugatti Veyron, went into detail about facts about that car that I’ve never heard before. This dude is seriously underrated as a motoring journalist.
Great…now I have a new “unobtanium” dream car. Felt like I was right there with you at every turn. The 911R hits all of the right notes and is a tribute to what a true driver’s car should be.
And one more thing about the specific 911R you were testing: no black wheels, no special bright color (the green stripes are pretty cool though). Like you are saying, it’s about the driver’s experience, not the voyeur. Beautiful!
...never a boring, off the mill, review with Jason. Most of us will never drive or see this car, but hey, at least we could hear the all the funny noises it makes. Interesting approach on that one!...:D
Thanks for this, Jason! The only reason I was getting those trials on MT was to watch these episodes done by you. Very few other automotive videos illustrated and described the experience of driving a car better than your content.
Jason, Thankyou from the bottom of my heart. These are some of my favourite pieces of content in existence, and Ive done everything i could to watch them whenever i feel down and need a quick pick up or whenever i get nostalgic. Unlimited praise for your work on these videos (especially this one this might be my 11th or 12th re-watch) and for putting them here
Oh my god it's on RU-vid free now. Thank you Jason, this was one of my favorite videos of yours and now I get to enjoy and share it with my friends. Absolute legend.
amazing! thank you, Jason! missed all these great reviews when it came out initially. And I am watching them all back to back now. And I still get to learn many new things about these great machines through you!
Two people who have been never been so excited about this car- Matt Le Blanc and Jason Cammisa! Great energy...they are like that nerdy kid who enjoy every little bit about this car!
OMg i miss this video... This just showed up on my feed. It was probably a highlight of ur nerdiest moments at the time and it made me a true fan of your content. This was when you were WAY ahead of your time.. best part is when you were quiet to listen to the Servo motor, the injectors, and hear the throttle opening. Ill never forget it
I saw a 911R at the Exotics meet in Redmond, WA a couple years ago, surprisingly nobody really noticed it but I stood there staring for quite a long time.
Wow. Jason is back. One of my favorite American reviewers (Randy Pobst ranks up there as well). I don’t know why guys like Jason, Chris Harris (my absolute favorite, Because he is a proper driver), Randy, or even someone like Tanner Foust don’t have BIG RU-vid deals with regular channels/companies that go for more than a year or 2. Everyone is jumping around, going silent for large periods, etc. seems like between the streaming services of netflix/Amazon etc and the youtube channels and how much people love cars, there would be more organization and order to it all
Seen your other videos....came across this while getting ready for bed and had to watch. This car......on an audio level....is like the 90's and 80's cars I grew up driving in and some of the older ones....I LOVE this car...and it's MANUAL!!!!!! Love the video man
Jason, I’m not going to lie I was disappointed when I saw you originally replace Carlos, but your humor and passion quickly made me forget about that. You’re the best car reviewer I know and you made me want a Scirocco but I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen.
I've been looking for this video for a few months and I felt it was totally removed from the internet, I opened my youtube today and I find out that it is re uploaded and waiting for me in the recommended section 🙌, one of Jason's top reviews.
The 911R predicts the future. When electric cars completely take over, ICE cars will become the mechanical watches of the automotive world. In 15 years, I predict that virtually all new ICE cars will be made in fairly small numbers, will be specialized things having tons of personality, and that they will be _expensive_ .
Oh my, Jason did a really good job to bring up what's enjoyable of the car. I never see anyone shows the engine noise in such details, but I love it! Good job Jason!
Jason, awesome to find you on RU-vid, I’ve missed you on automobile magazine from many years past. Your review felt like my review of a Porsche 911 R - You’re mean review being great much better.. I’m still driving my 944S. It’s an awesome car.

This is the best review from Motor Trend. Ignition and H2H was such a great show with Randy, Carlos, and Jason. Roadkill, DED, even Epic Drives was great. Good ol days, now they pretty crappy. Jason, you should do a Epic Drive reboot. Road trips in enthusiast cars. The Grand Tour does it all the time, and their huge, why not you? You're probably the only person I can think of that can pull it off. Comedy, creative, informative, entertaining, and with the quality videos you're creating lately, it'll be a film of cars, nature, and history. Who wouldn't want to see you drive to the Grand Canyon in a 911 GT3 or cross country in an Aston Martin or a C8 Corvette. Make it happen, Jason and Hagerty.
Really great video, loads of great angles and engine noise. I was lucky enough to take a look inside and out of one for my channel, not quite lucky enough to test drive one though. It’s such a raw sound, and the gear shift motion is the best in any car, made specifically for this car. The only thing I was surprised at was the soft limiter at 4k rpm, on a car like this, it’s a crime. Anyone who can afford one should own this car at least once.
Thank you SO MUCH for reuploading your videos at MT, now that I can see them again I realized that I’ve missed them quite a lot. 😃👍❤️ So you can tell us now, what did you break for the intro sequence? 😁
😂 The sound test at 7:03. You can have all of that and more 1/10 the price in a Miata, and I love it. I can hear the gear lash in the differential if I'm on or off power cruising on the freeway. 😂 Thanks for posting these classics! 👍
Is absurd how people are fooled by the brands. Here is the car with a bunch less parts and no sound isolation, we save more money making this and you pay more!!!... Seriously, ridiculous
@@JP-xd6fm Yeah porsche has made an incredible business offering you less for more money. You can basically have this experience in any manual 911. Do the rear seat delete. Option out the brakes to ceramic and replace your badges with stickers. Viola :)
@@mak23997 exactly. It would be fun to see how much weight could be stripped out of a base 911 manual. Carpet, sound deadening, hvac, audio system, airbags, etc.
