Fun fact: This song was written specifically for Jason Danieley. John Kander told Jason that this song was inspired by his relationship with Marin Mazzie.

I thought this song was from Curtains, a show that opened in 2007. Marin Mazzie passed away in 2018. Even so, I cannot believe that he could get through this song without choking off, I almost burst into tears in the middle of it.

Saw a touring version of the musical in Houston in 2012 and this was my favorite part. I don’t think there’s been a year since that I haven’t come back to it
