I decided to try this same tactic at work. I told my boss that I was tired, hoping that he would bench me for the rest of the week. But Instead he just told me to go to bed earlier😂😂😂
Well that's there fault and Shane gets some of the blame also if he doesn't get this team into the playoffs I believe he's done same with Chris Ballard
Its not super weird that a 1st round pick plays right away some do and some dont... some develop by playing. Whats more disturbing is that teams will overreach on QBs Richardson was labeled raw but went in the first 10 picks anyway
Quit making excuses for him and shifting the blame to his coaches. The Colts listened to all of ESPN's hype about this "dynamic athlete", decided to be woke and draft him, and then ended up getting a typical scrambling QB.
The prejudice organization quit on the team by not trying to develop him. Right before he suffered his last injury a few weeks ago, he was already hobbling, and then the very next play, the coach called a qb run that put him for the rest of the game. Yeah, they really want to see the black guy win.
@@jadebethel7556he literally did it for 1 play. Y’all are blowing it waaaaay out of proportion. He’s young, he did something goofy. Please stop acting like y’all are iron man.
It was a mistake for the Colts to draft him #4 overall after he did nothing at Florida. We all know why he was drafted there. When are these GMs going to stop paying these "dynamic athletes" and start drafting real pocket passers again? I could have told you that Anthony Richardson was lazy, entitled, and wildly inaccurate.
Yeah people get way too enamored with the 2-3 'electric' plays the athleticism can give a game and brush off the other 85% of the game where they struggle to handle basics. Not every player can be immediately 'coached' to fix fundamentals that they should have been learning for years before, because they've been able to get away with their raw talent at other levels.
Why do people think letting him play means he is going to become good all of the sudden, I mean it’s more often than not they dont, not saying he won’t but the odds are against him, why not live in the present and try to win games now and let him grow behind the scenes, they should’ve done that to begin with
Its not a mistake to bench him, it would be a mistake if its rest of season. Bench him, send the message hes gonna be held accountable, and give him the job back so he can continue to develop
Personally, I think Steichen starting Flacco with the potential to reach playoffs is Steichen trying to save his own self/job. Good possibility, like if he keeps losing with Richardson, his job could be at stake
The problem is the money with QBs. They have a certain amount of time before they have to pay them. So if you don't succeed and succeed early they move on to keep the cap low.
it was a mistake for him to leave Florida. the Colts did the right thing. “oh but he’s athletic he has an arm he has upside” is the only reasons people aren’t bashing this 2022 bust QB. they wanna bash everyone else in 2022 but keep praising this guy alongside CJ and Purdy who has proven much more than this guy. what a joke the same thing should happen with Milroe, Nussmier, Altmyer, and Ewers. they are NOT NFL ready, and if they go to the draft this year they will be considered busts and benched immediately if drafted to a team who starts them
That's my thing, there's so much money in NIL idk why these guys are so quick to want to come out. He should've stayed in college going top 5 in the draft is not worth tanking your NFL career before it starts by coming in and playing poorly.
@ NIL was slowly becoming implemented and really wasn’t in full effect until the next year but still good point. Florida has a boatload of NIL anyways he would’ve gotten his million
I have watched AD for 5 seasons. I’m a gators fan and a colts fan for NFL. I said don’t draft him. And now I’m saying PLAY HIM. HE WILL UNDOUBTEDLY PUT IS IN POSITION TO DRAFT SHADURE OR QUINN OR WVEN CARSON.
The rookie pay scale made things change. Now you cant develop a guy for years and then unleash him on the world. You have to get success quickly, gms and coaches are linked to a qb even more now than they were before.
It's like this, we're getting old & guys (especially on WRs) are coming up on the bag so if you want to develop Ant then make moves for picks to get young or take your shot, no matter how far that target is away
So many franchises lose all the time consistently bc they constantly are hoping for something instead of working for it!!! Give your young qb time get the coaches all aligned with a game plan. Stop removing a head coach then OFC then defensive then the qb again then erase the defense start over new qb in another year like??? What happened to developing a team??? Stop developing just the qb spot and even at that you’re not doing that. I don’t get teams in the nfl it’s so much chaos and not enough practice and communication
It's not a mistake. He's not ready at all. Flacco gives them a good shot at making the playoffs. If u keep Richardson, it's guaranteed to have a top 10 draft pick
I guarantee their receivers and tight ends weren't happy about their numbers shrinking. Only 1 receiver Josh Downs caught more than 1 pass last week. TE Mo Allie-Cox has 1 catch in 6 games with Richardson but had 6 catches and a TD in 2 games with Flacco.
I don’t understand the logic that he needs to play to develop. Sit him, let him learn, and pray he has a strong work ethic. That’s what development is.
People are acting like they’re gonna kill his confidence when in reality he seems a bit complacent and overly confident, he needed this wake up call. He’s just not improving at the rate you want to see. His passing numbers stink. He should be sitting.
So every single one of these analyst will say qbs need to sit and learn the nfl but when it comes to AR he needs to play? Make up your minds do they need to sit or start?
It's fairly obvious the head coach was going to lose the locker room continuing to play Richardson. Dude was very raw coming out of college, the Colts reached, and he should have sat. Pulling himself from the game is also something I've never seen in my lifetime, it looks very bad. If you're going to start a young QB there has to be progress along the way even if you aren't winning a ton of games, and it seems Richardson has either regressed or not made much progress since being drafted.
I’m sure the goal is to satisfy the team. You might not believe they can win the chip, but I’m sure the people in the locker room want to believe there’s a shot for them to win. I don’t believe they’ll win, but if I was in that locker room-I’m playing to win.
Reps didnt do anything for the last 1-season college QB I can think of. Mitchell Trubisky was extremely hyped up for his "development" potential, and already had a better prospect rating than certian other QBs, and is now seen as a joke because he legitimately got worse the more reps he got. I cant even blame it on him, because his situation was godawful, horrible o-line, worse wrs in the league (none of them from his first 2 seasons were still in the league when he left the bears), and coaching that SUCKED. Why is it suddenly a death sentence to sit and learn when we have examples like Love and Mahomes that show rushing raw rookie qbs isnt a good idea. Heck, a single game hasnt been played since AR was benched and theres already 30 videos from ESPN on how his career has been ruined by the colts...
I think the only mistake was drafting him as high as they did. This dude had bust written all over him and now its starting to show. Im not sure why they are even talking about this considering they was all just mad that he quit on his team bcus he was tired. Thats why he got benched
Why is it that for years, QBs have been huge busts, and we've just accepted it, but now all the sudden we have another one, Anthony Richardson, and we all just want to make excuses for him??? It's the receivers, he needs more development, it's the coach, it's the GM... it's too much pressure from the fans. No, nope, naaaa, no he sucks. He's terrible, he has no awareness, no touch, and MUCH more importantly- CAN NOT HIT AN OPEN RECIEVER. He's got a canon that shoots scattershot. And a 45 inch vertical. K, goodbye, on to the next guy.
The Colts messed up in signing Minshew over Cam Newton. Cam would’ve been the perfect mentor for AR. AR is Cam without playing experience. They messed up twice by that young man: took him way too high & didn’t get him the proper vet.
@ AR got the same arm that Cam had, same size, slightly faster (4.4 at 245lbs). The difference is Cam played more football b4 the pros so his mechanics were further along.
@ & cam was naturally more talented period . Cam played one full year in major college football and won a Natty with Auburn . Came to the NFL and had a successful career
Jmac is right, you used a 1st rd pick on him to bench him in 10 games? You drafted for potential and you benching him after 10 starts? With no real weapons this season Pittman been injured…I’m not making excuses cuz he’s been trash I’m a gator I’m not surprised he sucks but you drafted him because of potential he got hurt and sat down behind Gardner Minshew like what he supposed to learn from him evidently how to be a backup and he supposed to come in and change a offense for the absolute better in 10 games? That’s crazy give these young qb’s time…the season is washed might as well leave him in for reps
I hate the attitude Mina has where it's like if you can't make a deep playoff run just tank the season and upset all the guys in your locker room whose numbers are dwindling because you're crossing your fingers hoping a player develops.
If he’s not your guy, maybe winning with a QB that’s unretired once already is just hurting your future. Leave him in, lose and be in a better position to draft for the future or leave him in, win and he gets better. Flacco is a band-aid like every other team old QB the Colts have brought in on the edge of retirement.
The Colts basically drafted a high school QB and now they are upset after 1 year. I do not feel sorry for the Colts. Who drafts a QB 4th in the draft with no college experience? (49ers *cough cough* they had a plan B and a good team already). Management trying to save face.
I feel like it’s common sense that you don’t bench young player that hasn’t played much especially on a team that’s not that good. Most teams get extremely lucky to get a guy that can contribute immediately. Most need at least 1-3 season ms to get good.
@ I understand that, but they are not setup for long term success. They having a lot of questions at Qb, they games they have won are extremely close and was a play or two away from a loss, the coaching at times is questionable, and they just honestly in my opinion don’t have a deep depth of talent.
@@KingPolo985 I mean he’s actually not that bad just needs time. People think young QB’s just because they were drafted high are supposed to ball out quickly. He was drafted as a project.
Yall are making too much out of this. AR wanted to rest in the midst of a drive , and coach said he’ll give him all the rest he can handle and additionally time to really think about this opportunity he has and take it seriously. A franchise is depending on you and if you can’t handle the job, you’ll be easily replaced.
They are not a deep threat for the playoffs right now.... but if they beat Vikings and Bills next 2 weeks they will ALL be like this was best decisin ever.
I dont think most of the time these guys really believe what they are saying. Some agree and some disagree just to have the "conversation" about the topic. Because im pretty sure if JMc was still playing he would definitely agree with benching the guy.
Anthony Richardson has got Justin Fields equity and idk why thats the case...for years ppl were saying Fields wasnt bad it was Chicago what has Anthony Richardson done to gain any equity from anybody 😂 Hes not playing well so he gets benched so what hes young and the future face of the franchise you would swear by the way this convo has become that the Panthers benched Cam Newton after an MVP or something 😂
It’s the Indianapolis colts !!! It’s not him ….. I’m telling you !!! They are a horrible organization, the only thing they have ever accomplished was drafting Peyton, after him they have done nothing !!!! They’re horrible at drafting, they don’t spend money on players, and the players are always injured
These guys are not smart at all.. if you’re developing him and he already sat and you send him out there.. he sucks and doesn’t get it mentally.. sit him back down and let him to continue to learn
wsnt a mistake. hes gotten worse as season goes on. he needs to sit like jordan love did. love sat 3 seasons and when he finally played he looked good and got a contract . he needs 2 work on them mechanics and getting in better shape since hes tired
Steven just naiked it, no team is gonna bash their draft pick on public stage. Something is obviously going on or they finally realize the process they are taking to develop him ainþ working
I think they need to say exactly why though. If it's that comment stand on that. If you are doing it passive aggressive though you just ruined this relationship
Sam Dadnold stats : 14TD 5 INT 79.2 completion % Anthony Richardson : 4TD 7INT 44.4 completion % Levis has been benched , O’Connell has been benched , & Rodgers is a HOF . Please use logic when saying stuff like
Why would you say the Colts wont do anything in the playoffs? Ever see a team get hot at the right time, get on a roll? What a stupid statement! Dan was spot on!
I Will Say It Again The Reason Why We Have a Lot Of Spoil Brats Out Here, Is due to Grown Folks Like that at ESPN, the Kid did not even play in College, Came in the NFL and He is a Business, We want Men to be Men and This Young King Messed Up and We are Here saying giving Up. The Colts have to worry about the Locker Room, not one Player and He Is Not Just One Player He is Your Franchise Player and He is Not Starting out good and We Gonna Say He Should Not Be Bench. Yes he Needs to Sit, His Inexperience is Causing Him to Mess Up, He Needs to Be brought down to Earth and that’s how it start. Let’s not Ask for Differences If we ain’t Ready for it or If we Want to Baby Everybody even when Wrong. Let’s All Stop The Bull
It is a mistake. Colts not going anywhere either way but Flacco can only take them but so far. They're still in the mix of that sorry AFC South even if the Texans swept them
Media sure spend alot of time on a team who it dont matter who plays qb😅,yall talk bout dak alot 😢dont hear to much criticism on j.herbert or t.lawrence why they always get a pass?
@KingPolo985 I was stating that they should move on from talking bout AR😅 n Indy all together they ain't going nowhere, the media always criticizing dak but don't hear to much on her ert or Lawrence there trash also
@@JosephBoone-j2tLawrence is 🚮. Herbert is decent just doesn’t have a winning record . Still doesn’t change the fact AR IS 🚮. 44.4 completion %, 38.7 QBR, 4TD , 7INT .
Take the snap. 1 Mississippi. 2 Mississippi. Throw. Run. Throw the ball away. Scramble to buy time. Take a sack. Those are the options on every pass play. If you can't get that, grab some bench.
The coach should be fired. How do you draft a QB and 7 games later you bench him? Smh. These coaches need to go. Not only that but he is being replaced by flacco of all QBs. Smh what a joke. Double standard.
Are you slow? The GM, owner, and coach all work together to draft a player . Not just the HC. Also AR is terrible ain’t no double standard, Flacco is better. Period
If you get to the level of NFL and your having issues with being tired, you need more cardio. “Train like you fight”, in the Army you train like you fight. So if you skip out on PT and making excuses. Then when it is time for you to do what needs to be done in this case on a football field and you underperform. Well that is on you, no one else no other excuses. I think with most youth their is to many excuses in sports, the handing out trophies and ribbons to everyone concept. Also then got to think have these QBs in college basically lie on their applications. I feel you got five years when given a starting role to keep it. Once past that it’s harder to get a starting role in NfL
