When I wanna cry I watch this video. I watch this video every time I cry. I bought Jason those chucks for his birthday. And the first time I watched this video was the day he left us.
Never met him, I'm only 22 now so didn't get a chance to go any of his shows. Listening to him makes me feel what it's like to be alive and what it's like to face death. It's so absurd how much I miss a person I've never met....
Everything about this video and everything about this song is amazing. Thank you Jason. I wish I could see you and tell how much you and your music mean to me. I just want to cry but I can’t …
This guy is a World Treasure on the level of Georges Braque. Unless you studied art history, the average person has no idea who Braque is, but his contribution was immense. Picasso is a household name that bootstrapped his fame off a far more talented, disinterested, socially clumsy peer. Only through exquisitely raw talent is Braque even recognized in the history of art, despite himself. I can only hope that Mr. Molina gets his page in the ledger eventually, because it's very clear he's a unique bird the first time you hear his song.
Jason is an icon and one of the few great voices in modern music, along with guys like Will Oldham and Vance Gilbert. All of his stuff is very much worth a look.
This man should have been one of the best known singer songwriter of his generation. But ''twas not to be. He had a great voice and his lyrics were perfectly suited for his voice
He wasn't well-known, but he was still one of the best singer-songwriters of his generation. His music is recorded - preserved for later generations - so future people will have the opportunity to find inspiration and solace from his songs, in perpetuity.
You can tell how much pain he is in through his music.Too bad someone couldn't have helped him climb out of the darkness and find happiness in some part of his life to save himself.
One of the absolute best I have stumbled across in terms of song-writing for me. A true genius as a musician in so many ways. Every man has a flaming star, it just happens some legends burn out faster than others. Gone but never forgotten.
@content generator Would you consider either uploading this video anew, or otherwise sharing the original file? The whole thing (image and sound) goes out out of synch halfway through. I’ve watched this so many times. Even with those technical issues, what a blessing that this performance was even captured. ❤️
Dug into comments looking for this. I’ve watched this video so many times, and it may be my favourite live Molina bit, yet like you, I wish the audio and footage didn’t go out of synch.
Just 1 dollar from each of you. "Although no one can be sure what the future holds, we feel very encouraged by the recent steps Jason has taken on the road towards becoming healthy and productive once again." The post ended by asking fans to donate to a PayPal account that would fund Molina's recuperation."
I bet this won't go over well with most Molina fans (besides the fact it would be historically impossible), but I would love to hear a collaboration between Molina and Jerry Garcia. Flame on, brahs!
I worry about that. But who wouldn't take happiness if it was offered? It's just people seem to need to take different paths to get there. Jason gave a lot on his way.
@porterashleyd hate to comment so long after yours, but i had to say you answered your own question. his work is too true, and reminds people of all the things that hurt, and the things they long for. it's too heavy for most people to stand up under.
don't ever ask anyone for chords on youtube. You'll get nowhere with anyone I've been there. Nobody wants to give you a straight answer you'll get a lot of "check this website". It's the equivalent of saying: "If you have to ask you'll never know".
inth erein not really... Such means to our true ends were shunned for a few generations.. There were and always be the lost among generations because of the non-definitive definition of generations and the lack of not only inviting newcomers but also embracing their unique points of vire
@@thejmz all I can imagine he means is helping him through financial support, maybe with Jason Molina as an opener or even a split EP. Strange comment though. I don't think self destructive behavior is easy to heal, and I don't know why Neil young would be the one to help...see the lonely boys, out on the weekend...
I'm sorry, I get all the infatuation, but its not like he was Elliott Smith or anything. He plays open chords and has a decent voice. His hurt soul does not supersede his sophomoric musical approach. rip though. seemed like a good guy and i wish he was still alive.
I actually viewed a good many videos. Not claiming to have mastered his catalog or anything, but I got enough to make an informed musical opinion. The word genius was smattered throughout the comments of a lot of the vids. Sorry, just don't see it. To each his own.
@leaded blue flamer..Always takes a dick to input his worthless drivel.. that would b u. I was seeking out and experiencing live Bela Fleck, Chick Corea and Buddy guy when THEY were old and I was young in the early 90's . So put the math together, and get bent with your insinuations and supposed "musical superiority" .
Dak TirQue I'm glad that someone that was young in the 90's is into bela fleck. But you are STILL young, and it shows. Now, get back to your moms basement and play that springsteen record that has you so wound up.
