he can do more with a guitar and his voice in a coffee shop than artists who have stadiums lighting shows an arsenal of gear and sound systems that could span a mile. just insane how talented he was.
this is one of my favorite songs, its the most played song i have. i once listened to it for days straight. its so beautiful that ive almost cried listening to it. thanks a lot for this.
Just heard the news...the silence is a bit more still tonight. Jason will be missed by many, but his sounds and expressions will continue to echo through time. One of the special ones was lost this weekend. My condolences to his family, and friends, and all who knew and loved him. His music struck me like few musicians can, and for that his sound will rest in my heart with the sounds of the few.
there's a genuine presence in every instance while he plays and sings. its a beautiful thing to see a musician and artist so thoroughly immersed in expression.
Tears running down my face as I watch this, I think that I listened to Jason's music every day for about ten years....I can't believe that he is in another world to mine...I refuse to believe it,..as the New Yorker wrote "the world should have taken better care of Jason"...perhaps we needed to let him know how much we loved him.k
so many people loving you... so many people waiting for you. Now you saw the light, and i can never meet the guy who gaves me, who gaves us all that beautiful songs, his entire heart in every song
What a pleasure to listen to a live musician performing without a bunch of people chatting in the background (or foreground). Never heard of Jason until today, he was a talent.
Fuck, for the past 12 years or so.. you have been a constant companion. Learned most of your songs, but never got that beautiful delivery down. Being a fucking raging alcoholic .. I hate it, but I understand. Rest in peace brother.
i have been listening to this on repeat at work for the last 2 weeks, all shift every shift. no song has lasted me this long on repeat. I love Jason Molina hooooly shit!
Could hear a pin drop. As MN nights get longer, revising Molina's catalogue tends to come around this time every year. He is a treasure that is missed deeply.
i recently saw him play here in my town, and a ton of people showed up. I was sure nobody here would know who he was anymore, but the place was packed.
This Guy is Talented and has a unique style of vocals like A pop star Neil Young. Rip Peace Bro, I love this song , I might want to record it with Frank.
For novice guitar players like myself, here's an easy way to play this...Capo 4: F,C,F,C,Am,Em,G,G. It's a lot easier to play than it is to sing, but as a general rule you should start each new line of "hold on..." half way through the second F chord. Something like this - F, C, F (Hold...)C(...on, Mag...)Am(...no-o-li...)Em (...a...)G(..,to that great highway...) F (...moon...)
