@@Pirustae they got a better bassist, but I think we can all agree that Jason had more presence and power on stage. I love Rob tho and I'm glad he's with metallica
Ow fuck off😂 the guy still gets all the respect in the world being the most populair bassist for metallica... throw a poll on RU-vid and see who's name comes on top... dude isn't underrated or non respected... Jason will always be known and credited by every metallica fan
Metallica’s relationship with Jason is a prime example of why you shouldn’t hold any type of hierarchy in a band and pay each member the respect they deserve. Never let ego get in the way.
Also it shows how Jason is like one of the most kindest people to exist he mainly left Metallica because James and Lars wouldn’t let him work on his side project echobrain he couldn’t care less about how they treated him before he just wanted to do his side project but wasn’t allowed to so he just left and throughout all that time he never held a grudge or anything he says that he was happy to be in the band such a forgiving guy and I’m glad James and Lars understand that they treated him badly and feel bad about it
He's a fucking Metalhead! You can see and hear it always! No one screams "DIE" in Creeping Death with so much passion 🤘🏻 I grow up with Jason in Metallica and maybe it's not fair, but for me Rob will always be the Newkid. If i think Metallica, i think James, Jason, Kirk and Lars. Of course never forget Cliff!
His voice was always as loud as James’ live, and he sang in tune. Loved it. Rob always sounds like he’s 10 feet away from the mic, and he’s pretty much tone deaf. And you can never hear Kirk, unless it’s “Purify”.
Undeniable, this guy is sorely missed in the band. No knock to Robert. That guy is awesome, he excels at whatever he does. It just seems like he is a free agent. He gives it his all but still seems like kind of an outsider even with them. (except Kirk, I think they genuinely enjoy each other and that is awesome to see).... Just one man's opinion here...
This is what i miss the most in Robert's backing vocals. The harmonizing. And all the passion that Jason always have...That dude is amazing! Miss you, man
He brought so much intensity & power to th stage with his presence & vocals! I got to be there & see it 1st hand Thanksgiving night 1991, Kemper Arena KC, MO & it was epic!
tbh I'm kinda excited for the 30 years of load and reload, and I hope they'll release a shit ton of unreleased demos, lives and rehersals like they did for the 5 first albums. They're not thrash at all, but I still love them for they are, a welcomed breath of fresh air for this band even if it wasn't to everybody's taste, for what it is, they're kickass. If another band other than metallica would've released them during that same era, they'd be conscidered great albums in the rock/metal world.
I've just learned to ignore the haters because it's all bs. Whenever I talk to people in person it's "oh yeah, those were great albums" then the second you get on YT it's "LoAd aNd ReLoAdE sux bAWLS"
…And they are considered great albums, too. They sold quite a lot. But yes, if they were the only albums some other band did, they probably wouldn’t have got so much hate from the only-thrashers.
theyre overfed dad rock now. first three albums are classics( except for lar's shit drumming) selected songs from justice and black album. the rest suck.
Metallica with Jason Newsted....man I miss those days. PS...you're right about the band Newsted....those are some epic tunes...great songwriting, great execution of the music, and heavy.
A good level headed, hard working dude in a dysfunctional family of immature substance abusing dudes living in the reality warping lifestyle (or deathstyle) of rock stardom. The normal rules of reality don’t apply to us common folk…I’m sure he doesn’t regret a thing and will live his life quite happily and quietly. Being in 3 legendary cornerstone bands is a pretty good run for a career…
It makes me so sad when people try to promote Newsted now, I remember when he launched that project and how little support they received even after Jason did the 30th anniversary with metallica. He disbanded newsted because of the lack of support, flash forward almost a decade and now younger metallica fans are actually embracing it, where were you guys?!
That's exactly what Jack Black asks for his movie Pick of Destiny. It's a HUGE cult classic today, with a HUGE fan base. But when it dropped, it utterly flopped. No support when needed, but now all the support in the world. I saw an interview, and he asked the same exact question: *"Where were you guys then when we needed you!?"*
@@risenfromyoutubesashesagai6302 I find myself asking everyone else the same thing because I actually went out of my way to go see pick of destiny in theaters, bought it on dvd and cd at Walmart when they came out. I was also there at red house in Walnut Creek, ca when newsted toured with hysteria on the west coast in 2013 only playing small clubs for less than 100 people. It’s just so bizarre to have lived through that and now seeing how much people love stuff like that and call it classic when very few people cared back then.
There are 3 eras or Metallica the Cliff, Jason and Rob eras . Jason was the era I got into them and I fucking loved the band then. So much passion, they had so much originality and so many great albums. Lost interest in the band when he left 😕
i love and hate this video 😢 I miss the Metallica that had Jason in it. But I'm also glad Jason could move on and get to do things that made sense to him.
The "really f**king lame" quote was about the psychiatrist Phil Towle that helped them "bond" during the events of Some Kind Of Monster.. The guy that looks like Bishop from the film Aliens..
I miss Jason, but hate people making it a competition between him, Cliff, and Rob. All three bring their own styles. Cliff was a technical wizard who loved to cross over with other realms of music, from classical to prog rock to other heavy metal bands (the famed refrain in Orion is actually from a Steve Harris bassline), Rob is his own ball of energy and is more bass-oriented, but Jason is just this nonstop ball of metal that kept Metallica alive even during the Load days (Die, Die My Darling and Devil's Dance, anyone?) All three are awesome. No one is better than the other, cause they're all virtuosos. There will never be another Cliff Burton, another Robert Trujillo, or another Jason Newsted. Cause they all effin rock!
The part where he says lame and weak is wrong. He was actually answering a question about the band taking a break. Also, James wrote King nothing bass parts.
@@grimfist79 What ?? Na metallica is cool… i think they should stop now before they get too old but you can’t deny that Jason was a big part of their rise. Saw them 8 times ( 2 after jason left and it wasn’t the same.)
Metallica is not what it once was with Jason Newsted. They should have given him more credit and let him do his own shit. Should have let him have his creative outlets when Metallica was being a bitch. Metallica would be much better today if Jason hadn't left. A different chain of events would have taken place. I hope he comes back to Metallica.
As much I love your videos, what's "lame and weak" is actually the band being unable to overcome their problems on their own (Some kind of monsters documentaty, available on netflix)
Jason is legend (I'm a huge Flotsam fan) there is no way to replace Cliff Burton. We have no idea what it would be like to try to replace a legend like Cliff. Must have been hard af. Edit you CANNOT replace Cliff Burton sorry.
